You guys must have fun making these videos! Thank you for normalizing such "imperfect" results, this before/after is what we should all be after for polishing a daily driver, and for discussing the health risks of polish dusting.
As someone new to DIY detailing my own cars, thank you for showing real-time speed of using the DA polisher, very helpful! How does it compare cut-wise to 3D One? TIA!
Wow, that hood seems really flexible. Looks like the hood was deforming just under the weight of the polisher. You can see that Yvan isn’t using much pressure.
Very eager to get my hands on this. Never used a polisher, my wife's car is 2010 black VW Golf and is very in need of a shine and protect, always though I would go with Meguiars for my 1st time but I think I'll wait to get my hands on this system here Europe
How often do you recommend cleaning the pad as you go through polishing a vehicle? It seemed like you did not need to for half the hood at least. Thanks for all the wonderful videos, love the straightforward and direct way you present detailing information!
@@diydetailofficial Thank you, so it would make sense to clean the pad after each 3x3 square section you do. I see why a pad cleaner might be useful now 😉. I appreciate the follow up.
This gold standard polish is outstanding! Watching a master at work. Amazing results and explanations. I enjoy watching you two work. And Nick playing the devils advocate 😂. Quick question: the black buffing towels or (gray) to remove polish is it the same as your standard buff towels? Just a different color?
@@diydetailofficial One of the viewers were curios awhile back. Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I missed the answer now when they ask I can tell them they are different
Thanks for another informative video. Nice job! You guys realize that you are making minds go kaboom! Why? What? No need for a paint prep!!?? WHAT!!!!???? So, my question is if I am applying DIY Paint Coating, and not Ceramic Gloss, do I need to wipe off the polish and then use a paint prep?
Anybody who isn't watching these latest videos is just missing valuable information!! Polishing does seem scary but also it does seem simple and satisfying now!
Will this process work for a new car I just got (White Tesla?) - paint looks pretty good to me but a few areas like the hood look hazy/cloudy. Keep in mind I've never polished are car before. Should I go with a Random Orbital DA - or pick up a Rotary from somewhere like Harbor Freight to keep costs down since I'll only be doing my daily driver once a year? Love watching and learning the different processes. Found you guys by watching Yvan demonstrate Rinse-less washes with ONR with OPT-Seal from way back lol. Nice job breaking out and doing your own thing!
Right - I'm just so new to all this explaining each step helps me verbalize it, but also running it by you in case you mention something I didn't think about. I've watched so many detailing videos and your channel I've learned the most from. You guys are killing it i think. @@diydetailofficial
Excellent video. The thing that surprised me the most was the arm speed Yvan used. I've always seen polishing demonstrated with a much slower arm speed. What's the reasoning for moving fast vs slow?
With a 21mm stroke machine you can move a little faster. Most RU-vidrs use a 15 or 8mm stroke machine, those require a slower arm speed to get results. Also unfortunately many will exaggerate movements and “play it up” for the camera. Our goal is education, so we show how we actually do it in the real world.
@@diydetailofficial thank you! I have both an 8mm (where I started) and a 15mm machine and know that I can move a liiiittle faster with the 15, but I don't think I've ever seen someone move that fast even with a 21.
What percentage of the scratches do you think were removed by using this product and technique? Really awesome videos by the way, I am starting my detailing business and I enjoy watching your videos just to relax and learn.
Hi Yvan/Nick, if I applied ceramic gloss but wanted to use gold standard polish how do I strip the sealant ..today i applied ceramic gloss coz I got excited but saw the swirls after the fact 😢
Hey Yvan & Nick. Very important question I am doing a haul on your website ordering and restocking. 💪 I wanted to ask what’s the difference between the red chemical resistant brush and the green flag tip? Are they both the same? Just the red is chemical resistant? I want to know to see which I should get for the body and wheel? Thanks
@@diydetailofficial gotcha thank you very much placing my next order now 😅. So I shouldn’t worry too much about the green flagtip brush degrading quickly with the all clean?
How many passes can you do before you start damaging your coating? I left a a lot of high spots on my car and it been about a month so I am thinking about just going over the whole car with the Gold Standard.
@@diydetailofficial thank you. I just purchased the gold standard, Rinseless wash, incred suds, and ceramic gloss. I can’t wait to test out the products.
It takes very little to polish off a high spot. I'd suggest using a soft polishing pad by hand rather than machine. Check the high spot every few strokes. Good luck.
You can polish however you would like, but this demonstration shows the way yvan recommends you polish. Inevitably people will do what they’re going to do :)
Hmm 🤔, Yvan didn't clean the pad between sections ... 😂 No worries though, on paint like that, I might not either, but IMO maintaining proper procedure is important too.
I’m a DIY’er, and want to know what you recommend for a good quality, fairly priced polisher is for the gold standard I’m about to order. Also what size should I use? Thanks!
