Thank you for this exquisite video! My husband started with one 18 th century leather bound French book 25 years ago and now they have taken over every bookshelf, cabinet and table in our house. What wonderful company they are… witnesses to historic events, advice givers, dream makers. I just love your old bookshop! I hope to visit him in person one day! I really appreciate your and am inspired by your magical world, thank you for sharing it with us. ❤

Can't live without them! I have so many that I have had to build libraries in my last 3 houses! In my present home, after more than a year long wait I am ironically FINALLY getting installed the bookshelves I had custom built and fitted for a new library. I am not rich..books are just so important to me that I prioritize them in my life:) Libraries have always been my safe place. My father used to take me to used bookstores as a special treat and I was always allowed to bring one or two home. I carried the tradition on with my children. We all count those treasure hunts among our most cherished memories. My childrens favorite birthday tradition was that on their special day we would go to the biggest book store in our area and they could have whatever age appropriate books the could fit in their basket. Books were the one thing i never scrimped on, and my children have all developed a deep love of learning, a wonderful curiosity and are fantastic story tellers. While i have been waiting for my new library to be completed all my precious books have been in boxes. I can not wait to clean them, organize them and become reaquainted with them! I have missed them like old friends and I agree nothing tells you more about a person than their books! I used to tell my son almost exactly the same thing..that in a book, you can go anywhere, experience anything, be anyone and learn about anything without any kind of external judgement. You are only limited by your imagination. My sister once said when someone made a snide comment about how many books her children had , "we read in our family". Well said, I thought. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who did not get the encouragement to read when it most matters..as a child..but then I remember that books are the one thing you can enjoy for free..via public libraries or even the internet. Name one other item where an entire system, organized purely around trust, will just give you an item only with the promise to bring it back. No cost, no questions asked. They will loan you something precious purely for your own enrichment..just by showing a membership card. That gives me faith in the future and the hope that societies without the will or means to fund libraries will eventually find a way.

I understand you so well having you dreamed built in bookshelves as a priority!!! yes sometimes people can start to built a real interest later in life as teenagers or young adults even when tehy didn't read much as children, but it's less common, it's so true, books are really the only thing we can have for free, even with the free book boxes.We need to stay optimistic!!! Thank you for sharing your stories with books, I enjoyed reading your message Mara !

❤Hey Sweetheart. Books are a must for me. I'm reading a lot of poetry and I write a lot of poetry. I'm also reading Alice in Wonderland, I know, I'm an adult, and I have read Anne of Green Gables 3 times in the past 3 years, it is so magical. KATIE ❤️ KENTUCKY!

I have been told off so many times and been told to get rid of my treasured books whenever I have to be transported to hospital and they can't get through to me in my bed because books are blocking everything. But that will never happen, I'd rather die in my books than get rid of them so they can save me 😂
@fionasimagination

My mother is exactly the same. There is always a cavalcade of books when they transport her to hospital too. It must be inherited😂 Our tiny flat looks rather a lot like the bookshop you toured in the video. Our haven but not very practical for two highly disabled people that can barely walk a straight line, let alone dance around precariously stacked mountains of books😂

My soul also needs old books 📚 ( and trees) to thrive. I love the feel of an old book in my hands and the different sound when you turn the page.📚📚 Today I found an old garden statue with a boy reading intensely a book on his lap. I am still smiling about the fortunate find. I tucked it away between my houseplants on an old marble top table. ( I was worried raccoons would possibly knock it over outside, and it may break.) You would like the little town called Snohomish, filled with antique stores up and down Main street 40 minutes from Seattle. Your new old books are a lucky find to add to your treasures. 🍃 Thank you for a beautiful inspiring video.

This is one of my favourite videos of yours so far! Yes, I have been amassing a rather large collection of old books. More than I have been able to keep up with reading, but it’s a fun hobby and I love connecting with the past times. I just ordered my very first book printed in the 18th century “Fables by the Late John Gay” from 1792 and I can’t wait until it arrives. I’m jealous of that bookstore of yours so close by with all of those treasures…thanks for sharing!

Oh Im very grateful to have this bookshop so close that I can visit anytime I want tthough I don't go there every month because I cannot resist all these temptations when I'm there , and usually stay 2 hrs at least each time. Thank you for your message !

I have lots of books. Not the old ones you have, but books I have for about 55 years. I bought them when I was about 13-16 years old. And later in my life. Not many books to read, but herbal books, books about making dolls and clothes, quilts and other things I like to make. Sometimes I see photo's of bookshelfs with books and decorate with lovely other things. That are not my bookshelfs, they are full with books, nothing else.

Three great passions I have, books, art and music. Coming out of Covid lockdowns I set about correcting my book and art overflow problems by building an extension onto my home dedicated as a library and music room, with a wine cellar attached. I collect first edition, preferably signed, editions. More modern than what you have shown though. Your home looks absolutely beautiful. So glad I have just found your channel. Thank you.
