A failed attempt, in fact a very early failed attempt at The Old Coach Road, Cumbria. In hindsight I would have been better starting it from the opposite end, having said that I shall return in the next few weeks and do just that. 👍

Well done for having a go at it , Practice standing up more on the pegs if poss , this allows the bike to move around underneath you and a bit more speed will help the bike to go over those boulders rather than deflecting off them at lower speeds. Momentum is your friend 😀

Many thanks, I completely agree and normally would be up on the pegs more but I was totally freaked out by the size of the hardcore. Surely they could have just put a light smattering of gravel down just for me. 😂 I absolutely love the freedom this style of riding offers and I’m going to persevere and improve as time goes on. Thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment, I’ve watched many of your videos. 👍

@701 Adventures yes can be daunting as none of us want to get hurt so self-preservation kicks in, keep up the good work 👍

Well done mate. I agree with my ktm adventures. Standup. Go a wee bit faster. Training helps a huge amount. And makes a good video. (Think you said something about that last year). I’d also add - accept falling off. Or over if you’re not going to fast. You might surprise yourself and not fall but get past the problem. That gives you a real confidence boost. How about this the next time you fall off I’ll buy you another chocolate 😅

@@24rare A friend and I have some training booked for May which I will be filming, we’re really looking forward to it. So if I fall off you’ll buy me a chocolate, hmm, you know that could well be worth it. 😂

Well done for giving it a go. I think you would benefit hugely from some training. Also it would make a good video 👍

I'm doing exactly that. I'm booked on a session with the Yamaha Off Road Experience in Wales this May. I'll be filming it and sharing it. 👍

Well done for giving it a good go mate....I think as you said the amount and size of the 'rubble' that has been deposited on that incline have made it very difficult to overcome ....but you did your best and no harm in admitting defeat on this occasion ....maybe next time ?
@701Adventures
@701Adventures Год назад
Definitely next time. I'm sure many wouldn't have struggled on a bike the size of the 701, but possibly it's more suited to a lighter, smaller bike? 🤔

Don’t beat yourself up steve ,I tried to ride stuff on my 701 that I rode on my enduro bike and you definitely feel the weight and loose a bit of traction easily….momentum is on your side but mostly weight is against you with the 701 it’s a heavy bike. You don’t want a 350 you want a 501 there’s nothing between the two weight wise but a 501 has longer legs more linear than the 450 that will get you there and over the trail and then back home. Maybe not as comfortable as the 701 on the long roads but it’s a good light adventure bike with a few mods.look at the oz vids on utube they love them

Jay, many thanks for the support and encouragement 👍 I've been watching with interest MAD TV who have been 'building' a 501, interesting stuff.👌

I think one you definitely need some adventure bike training it will be money we'll spent, two ride with another rider will give you more confidence in difficult terrain, and three momentum is your friend 👍

Neil, yes I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve got a lot to learn, I’ve got some proper training scheduled in May down in Wales with a friend, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also hoping to do some light off roading this year with others of a similar ability to me and hopefully we can learn off each other and encourage each other as we go. 👍

@@701Adventures that sounds like a plan 👍, we've all got to start somewhere, but as I said when trail riding anything can happen sometimes, especially if you're riding alone, so would strongly recommend not to, if you have no local friends who ride, join the trf local group who take beginners out and you would learn so much quicker, all the best for the future, safe riding 👍

You are going to slow on the rough stuff and making it harder for yourself u need more momentum to keep moving

Yes I should have started at Dockray. I'll have another go at it next month and will do it in the opposite direction to this attempt. 👍
