That looks so good! I love it when you can cook the pasta right in the food. Definitely going to make this.

Don't forget to salt!! I remember one time I was real hungry and I came back to my grandma's house and she had a huge pot of goulash and she said the famous words "I think it might have a little too much salt" my Grandma loved salt so I knew if she said that there was something wrong the pot was about a half an inch from the top because she tried to add some extra cans of tomatoes to try to knock down the salt but it didn't and it had too much salt and it was actually practically inedible and I love salt 2... I never knew too much salt could actually ruin such a great meal, and I was so hungry. I wish you were still here today so I could make a video of her making thank you for your video and reminding me of my grandma 😊

I do save lids - but NOT to re-can either hot water bath or pressure canning with. There are plenty of other use for them. (Stashing aside dehydrated food comes to mind.)

Well, if you call it "old fashioned goulash" it should be at least authentic. Just saying. Not being a 'recipe policewoman" just liking things to be called what they are, whatever this is. (It does look tasty but it ain't 'old fashioned goulash').

perhaps you call this goulash but has nothing to do with the original recipe gulyás. First Paprika ( came in with the Turks ) and bell peppers, potatoes ( not macaroni) and third just beef not gound

@KatyInNH

Maybe add a jarred alfredo sauce with extra water instead of the tomatoes. I would add so extra mushrooms. It would sort of turn into something similar to a beef veggie stroganoff but without the sour cream. You may have to adjust the spices and herbs
@cynthiafisher9907

Just use water or chicken both, beef broth or non tomato vegetable broth in place of tomato volume (2? cupe) Mom used to basically do a brown gravy version

Just like Curry,,Goulash just means Stew My mom just used to call this refrigerator stew which she made on cold rainy weekends growing up The alternative was mixing some Biquick with water, pressing it into a pan and the stuff in the fridge becoming a refrigerator pie(Pizza) with a pasta salad on a hot day

So, I am Hungarian and lived there until I was 17 years old. Old fashioned Goulash is a SOUP. What you made and the "Gulyas" soup has 2 ingredients that are in both: water and salt. Sorry.
