Old Firm Legends pay tribute to Andy Goram at Airdrie Workmens Club: Wed 22 June 2022 

Peter Grant summed up how the Old Firm used to be. They loved their club and we loved our club. That's the way it should be. Respect. The pettiness of today is tiring.

As a Celtic fan I hated Mr Goram because as you say he was "the goalie" best I have ever seen along with Neville Southall he broke my heart many times and that save from van Hooijdonk baffled me how the bloody hell did he save that. My thoughts are with his family,Friends & everyone at Rangers. Hail Hail sir & YNWA.

As a kid I remember the season he won the tenants Sixes with Hibs, and I thought he was outstanding and turned to my old man, and said, "da, I think we should sign him, for Celtic next season". I wasn't his biggest fan after that season. but total respect one of greatest keepers I have seen and his love for Rangers got to respect.

It's only a 90 minute game. After which opponents can become lifelong close friends. A lot of humanity here. A real credit to you, Andy, and also to every one of your pals.

Way back in the 80s I had some mates who followed Oldham - Andy Goram was their keeper then, fine shot stopper and very agile as I remember. RIP.

We can all hate another club or detest rangers like most off us do 🤣, but can’t hide the fact that when legends deserve the credit it all comes down to reality 👍… cracking keeper

I got to know “the Goalie” through my good pal Ted McMillan who organised darts exhibitions with BDO professional players in Scotland. Ted introduced the goalie to the late Andy Fordham and the 3 of them became great mates. I always helped Ted set up and when the goalie turned up, he found out that I used to run the line at senior football, well that was it, I got it in the neck from him, it got to the stage, I said to him, “goalie, 2 words, wee Robbo” referring to John Robertson on Hearts. We got on really well and every time he arrived at an event that I was at, he first words to the audience was, pointing at me, “he’s a fuckin referee”, I wasn’t bothered, it was good crack to start the night. Goalie, you were there for me when I lost my sister to cancer in November 2019, we both lost a great friend in Andy Fordham last June, and now, I’m going to lose a good friend in you soon. You have a heart of gold, you were a great auctioneer and somehow you managed to get people to dig deep for the lots, it didn’t matter to you if it was Celtic items, your main thought was this is for charity so let’s get as much as we can. You will be remembered by me, never forgotten.

I had no idea he had passed, I used to play cricket with Andy at East Lancs Paper Mill. At 14 he was in the 1st team opening the batting, great keeper. I'm really saddened by this. RIP Andy👏

He got me chucked out at a Leicester game v Oldham at Boundary park for sticking the V's up,got put in a police van with 10 Oldham fans on a stag do who were sound to be fair. Sad news indeed. Mon The Gers 🇬🇧

I can remember going to the dancing in edinburgh in the seventies and John greig Danny magrain coming in after a game best of pals and great respect for each other .but down at the waverley station the numpty supporters were kicking lumps out of each other . .
