Just two friends on old sleds looking for a good time. We found it in a 3 ft soft snow culvert.
Riding Old Forge, NY - Trail 1 headed North. Trails were great but the corners were super soft. Groomers and fellow riders to the rescue. No one hurt. Sleds fine. Memories made.

Couldn’t they have hooked the strap to the groomer??

That’s what we thought, ha. They said they weren’t allowed to; liability for damage. They were happy to help though.

If hooking up to the groomer wasn't possible, the xc700 had more than enough power to pull the sled out.

It becomes a liability if some damage is done to the snowmobile by the groomer

This happen to my buddie in Halliburton Ontario it eventually took 8 men to literally lift the sled out the woods everybody passing on the trail just kept stopping then it turned into a big old group ride !

Ha, man, those are the rides you remember. I’ve never met someone who rides who isn’t quick to jump off and help. Gotta love the camaraderie. Hope he and the sled was alright!

@@nate_kaiser there was so much snow when it rolled it didn’t cause any damage but it was definitely hung up in the sticks haha

I live about 2hrs north from there and we have no snow at all ,I have a 1995 Yamaha 600 that needs to be rode.

Nice! Sounds like it could be decent riding in OF this weekend. Hoping to make another trip up in March if there’s snow. I’m from Lancaster, PA so it’s a bit of a hike.

this is embarrasising dudes Crank it and pull forward
@nate_kaiser
@nate_kaiser 7 месяцев назад
I hear ya. The left ski was bent into the hill so pulling forward wasn’t an option unless we wanted to break it off. Even when we tried to pull it out ass end, the ski was cranking. At the end we were able to pull the sled up with the tow rope to free the ski and ultimately pull it forward but took a few guys to be able to lift it.

Good suggestion Always carry a foldable shovel and nylon tow straps with you
@nate_kaiser
@nate_kaiser 7 месяцев назад
Tow straps have saved me a couple times, especially on these older sleds. Couldn’t really take advantage of them until we had more guys to actually lift the sled, the ski was bent into the hill. I try and keep a few tools, a set of plugs and a belt as well. Usually have a small hand pump siphon too. That XC 700 eats gas.

Jeepers, that took so long everybody lost their alcohol buzz,.. oh well, Daiker's isn't that far where you can take some shots to re coup it and be on your way to the next crash.

It’s an awful feeling when you stop and the person following you isn’t there. Why didn’t the groomer hook up the tow strap to the sled ain’t just pull you out of the ditch?
@nate_kaiser
@nate_kaiser 7 месяцев назад
It sure is! The groomers were happy to help but said they weren’t allowed to use the equipment to pull us out due to liability reasons. Seems like more physical liability straining a back than anything that would happen to the groomer. Eh well, we got it out!

What was that you said as the groomers pulled up? 😆
@nate_kaiser

I think it was something to the tune of, “I think these guys are stopping to help…” and then they drove past and we were like, “I guess not haha” The guy said he can’t use the groomer to pull the sled out but he was happy to try and help.
