Agreed, thats not goid for anythinh that dirty snow in your undercarriage, not good for cooking or keeping hyfax in good shape. Go find a good ditch well marked without cattails, challenge yourself a bit with some inclines and crossing fun. Learn how to handle that sled
No shit! I appreciate my sled too much to subject it to that crap! Especially if I was riding a newer one like these guys. When the trails look like that, I'm done sledding for the year and it's SXS and quad season! These guys must have more money than brains! 🤪
Those trails are pretty smooth compared to what the OFSC in Ontario gives us. $250 dollars for trails that are groomed once a week, if your lucky. Might as well join snocross cause it's be about the same. I stopped buying trail passes for two years before I hung it up 3 years ago. Sounds bad of me but I was fed up. After paying for them faithfully my whole life I watched as the organization slowly got worse until it was not fun anymore to ride the trails. Some serious corruption going on in it I'm sure cause the money isn't going to grooming.
Fellow New Yorker.. sad season for us this year! All those trails in the video are dirt! 😢 I’m out of Buffalo here.. trails didn’t even open more than two days, and that was down in Cherry Creek. I’ve got a cabin but further north than Tug hill. Conditions were amazing there this year. Still considering taking another trip before it’s all gone.
Wow. Very marginal conditions. We haven’t been that low on snow up here in Saskatchewan since early Nov. I know it’s been a crappy sled season in southern Canada tho which would be close to your latitude.
For crying out loud, you blew right through the stop sign at 4mph! You hit a out of control top speed of 27mph! You're riding a snow machine on dirt! You're videoing all this insanity! You're lucky they don't throw you in the looney bin! I usually don't say this but you're welcome to move to my proud state and ride the trails. We don't ride them anyway. Just one thing - you have to be proud to be American!😉
Niagara Mohawk had a yard there in old forge right next to the train bridge. Beautifully countryside, use to enjoy delivering poles there any time of year.
WTH Shi&&& trail and police harrassement? Why? My sled would be overheating so bad on that mud. Then you have to stop and get harrassed? So Sorry I will stay in Wyoming. :D
Times have changed from the 70s 80s 90s.. This is a money grab...Old forge will never be the same again.. . Never again . Paid passes for 30 plus years never again with all these check points.
The camera is a GoPro 9 Black and I just use the GoPro app on my phone to trim the video and add what they call "stickers". I'd like to start using the GoPro desktop app for editing but haven't gotten there yet.
I was stationed at Ft Drum for over 7 years. In 2007, I bought a Rzr, got in an atv club where everyone drank and we never went over 20 mph. I didn’t & still don’t drink, but I’m a pothead now lol. Anyway, dnr was on the trail around midnight and I got a dui alcohol bc I failed the sobriety tests. Id been diagnosed with ptsd and a Tbi, before this. I can’t walk a straight line on a sunny day! Blew a .000 there and at the station. Cost me almost $300 to get it dismissed the next week. I was angry AF, immediately sold my Rzr for a loss, and bought my old banshee back. Then I played fuck-fuck games with them pricks for the next 3 years.
So many quit drinking and smoke weed instead for that very reason. grow your own and stay out of those expensive shops. You can pay more to get high than buying beers at a bar ffs! Crazy!
That’s the thing, they think everyone is on something. I don’t drink either and they tried to get me once in Old Forge. I will say, many of the riders do drink and drink hard but it’s not everyone.
@@dereksroomrepair the trails and the lay out are close to the same as here in Polk county wi we have 18 to 24 inches coming starting on Tuesday to Thursday
It's funny how he let you go with your exhaust but decided to give me the tickets instead lol...Needless to say the one ticket I got was dismissed and I'm biting bullet and paying the small fine for the exhaust ticket.
That's a good place to avoid. The last time I was up that way the chief of police made a bunch up a bunch of bogus charges against me, and after hiring two attorneys I was informed "if a cop in NY says you did it you're guilty" The 2nd lawyer also informed me the judge and the chief were buddies. Only cost about 3 grand.
Ouch! Sounds like typical corruption from eastern politicians!..smfh get out of that state! My family is from upstate New York, in the finger lake's area, I've tried for YEAR'S to get my family to move away from that overtaxed shithole! Only one female cousin has moved out west, she loves it out here..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
Thats funny I have had them try the radar gun on me before, jumping out from the side of a trail on blind curves. They dont own a 900 Kingcat that is short tracked back to 136" and a big bore kit. I was outta there.
Rode a buddies 04 king cat 900 with a can, clutched perfectly, tuned perfectly, and a 162 in the mountains. Considering modern chassis's, it ain't that great, but it's a freaking rocket outa the hole and up the hills
They suck and have issues for even being on the trail. Go stop an actual crime. Like maybe trying to save 1 of the 300 kids dying everyday from fentanyl poisoning. Oh that's right, the isn't any money involved in doing that.
Bad riders who stand up. Bad riders who destroy they snowing in the dirt trail. That trail would be shut down in Michigan. You really see how smart these guys are that stop blocking the trail while with a cop.
Lol the cop has a check point stopping everyone. Pull over for the other people he is also not going to let through, makes sense. This was was just a town connector trail nobodys land was hurt in the making of this video.
@@grantdubridge7995 I completely agree with you. This area had a pull-off area in the road which is why he was stationed there. Allowed him to harass everyone at once.
@@grantdubridge7995 that would be like saying you should always move over to the shoulder lane at every red light you approach in your car or to move off the trail at every stop sign while riding. A stop is a stop, and then you carry on.
@@dereksroomrepair no it's not, because I'm coming down the trail at 50-60 mph, plus, and you don't scream to a halt on a snowmobile. Keep your ass out of the middle of the trail when you stop.
Yeah my buddy in the green cat got an exhaust and insurance ticket. His insurance was valid but the cops system wasnt working and he was a dick so bam. The insurance ticket got dropped, exhaust ticket stuck
@@dereksroomrepair I try to make it a cheap hobby as I might get 500 miles max . Trail permits alone are $52 and I don't ride groomed trails . I just enjoy exploring hard to access areas in the winter. There is room for all of us - enjoy the trails
I don't ride the trails anymore. I had days we would get stopped 8 to 10 times. Sure if u have everything it goes smooth but it gust gotten ridiculous. Buy the way I'm talking about Ontario Canada.
Why do they stop you so often? Is snowmobiling becoming illegal? In Norway, snowmobiles are completely illegal except a "very" few trails we have. Riding in the mountains far from anyone, will give you a 1500 dollar ticket if they catch you
A windshield? What was it about with the windshield? Is that mandatory, with all the rest of the rules & laws around here? & ya get stopped all the time too huh? Ice fishing is the same way! I don’t want to go.
The trail passes go on the windshield and i had switched from the X package windshield the previous owner had put on it to the proper XRS windshield, so i removed my old sticker with a hair drier and was on my way to get a new sticker for the new windshield Windshields arent necessarily required you can probably put the sticker anywhere on the front, my XRS windshield is too small to do anything anyway
I've had my fair share of run ins with NY police. I prefer not to see them. Last time I saw them I was riding an 1132 Triple Hooper Race engine, I went straight across the lake to avoid a pipe ticket.
Yeah its my third time on this sled in two years, being respectful and having my registration and insurance handy has helped so far. Haven't received a pipe ticket, yet..
@Derek's Room & Repair Thank you! I need to get it out on the road, been 6 yrs since I've driven it. After 25yrs of owning it, I need to get on it and drive it again.
As a guy who rides ditches and fields I still don't understand completely why trail riding is a thing. I understand that no skill is really needed, you get beautiful views, and it's a relaxing time but I like to fly threw fields and get my heart going. Love the adrenalin when hitting a ditch at speed and doing something crazy hahaha
depends on your group really some people like to slow ride other guys like to ride the trails as hard and as fast as possible deferent strokes for different folks
These "stops" are just a way to grab money 💰 🤑 💸 for the state, town ,village whatever. It's fu@king disgusting, and an abuse of power..smfh..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
And bearings, hifax's, rust damage from the stupid salt 🧂 that is used on the roads back east is just stupid! My family is from upstate New York and the thing's that rust away is crazy, we have more snow, longer winters, and colder temperatures that NY using salt is used to destroy your vehicles!..smfh..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
@@dereksroomrepair I guess that's a positive, considering what they put on the roads over there 🤔, I've got a conspiracy about why your vehicles rust away underneath you, in the rust belt..smh..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
personally i usually run but not the brightest idea had the cops looking for my sled for 2 weeks they were also bribing people to give up my name, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
