Great video! Im about to start on mine but had a few questions. 1) For the coating inside you are still able to use it with gas? 2) do you fill it with anything for long term sotrage?
Thank you for the kind words! The coating I used is called "Red Kote" you can absolutely store gas in it after, it's actually made for that. For long term storage of the can itself you can just leave it empty. For long term storage filled with gas, I would use an additive such as "Startron" which increases the shelf life of your gasoline.
TheFaithornForge no problem and thanks again! Also, for the red kote did you pour it inside and roll it around? Or did you use a tool to apply the coat?
Hello, I am wondering what type of replacement lid that was you used on one of them? I have a good used Jerry can with the spout lid, however I need a replacement lid to seal it shut?
The spray paint on the outside holds up about as well as you would expect, if you spill on it and don't wipe it up immediately, it will eat the paint. You would need a special paint to avoid the corrosion, I just took the cheaper route. The Red Kote on the inside of the can holds up though!
I poured the recommended amount on the inside, put the cap on, and slowly moved the can in all directions to try and line every nook and cranny inside of it.
@@Gamerj2014 You bet. I have a WW2 can my grandfather gave my dad, who passed away in 2010, I was very close with my pop and this can is in bad shape so I want to give it my best to restore it and out of all the vids Ive seen yours was by far the best result. BBs, sob, what a great idea. Thx buddy.
Frankie, thanks for your feedback. As it states in the video, I lost some of the footage that I shot because my SD card in my phone was corrupted. That is the reason why it wasn't shown.
Why do so many YT content creators insert weird, awful and just plain annoying music in their presentations? It really adds nothing. Just a distraction to the viewer who most likely was only interested in information - not crappy music. If you're looking for music there's plenty of other, better options out there ...
