6:23 Your results look good. But for those who are here for information on the process, (I am here for the finished color shots). Cerakote specifically recommends one thicker coat and not several light coats. They actually cite that as one mistake folks make when using their product. As it’s not the same as regular paint. Hope this helps someone. Great job man. Looks great. And THANK YOU for not showing a cleared weapon. lol
You were supposed to bake it and in the oven man lmao after you paint it to set the paint onto the gun parts wow some people just can’t read directions don’t follow this guy your cerakote won’t last a week period
As stated in the video, this is not the bake on version of Cerakote. This is an air cured version, it is not as durable as the bake on stuff and takes several days to fully cure. It still holds up to this day.
Great vid. I am new to bolt action rifles and am planning on getting a Savage Arms axis 110 Magpul Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is advertised at 8.90 pounds. Do you think that is too heavy to carry around?
Can anyone answer my question. Does this particular gun keep a tight grouping with a hot barrel? I am interested in getting myself a rifle that will stay consistent with a “hot barrel.” I find it annoying having to sight in a basic deer hunting rifle with a cold barrel. I’ve only recently learned about cold and hot barrel shooting. Thank you in advance! Really sweet group at 25 yards but it would be awesome to know what the grouping would be at 100 yards + with the same amount of shots. I understand most rifles you use for hunting you will not be popping off that many shots 😂
This particular gun has a thicker barrel. As a result of this, you will be able to get more shots off before your barrel heats up compared to a standard rifle barrel. You will never be able to completely elimate the hot/cold barrel effect of a firearm. When I sight in a deer rifle I usually just shoot 10 or so shots and feel the barrel to see how hot it gets. Around my neck of the woods you are lucky to get a shot over 150 yards, so it is less of a concern for me.
It's a great rifle. Mine is the 20" version but 308 is a pretty efficient round and 20" will still enable you to establish a long distance relationship. My scope is a bit more basic, 3-9x50 Leupold but it gets the job done. I'm very new to long distance shooting. Being a city guy, most of my shooting for over two decades was limited to 25 yd indoor ranges but I finally joined a outdoor range to stretch my legs and got my first scoped rifle. It's a lot of fun to challenge myself with longer shots. I'm only at 100 yds right now but the outdoor range I joined goes up to 600 yds so plenty of room to grow. Take care.
I poured the recommended amount on the inside, put the cap on, and slowly moved the can in all directions to try and line every nook and cranny inside of it.
@@Gamerj2014 You bet. I have a WW2 can my grandfather gave my dad, who passed away in 2010, I was very close with my pop and this can is in bad shape so I want to give it my best to restore it and out of all the vids Ive seen yours was by far the best result. BBs, sob, what a great idea. Thx buddy.
@@Protectiveedgetraining as shown in the video, I used Cerakote and put it in a Preval spray bottle I purchased from the hardware store. The Cerakote did not come in the spray bottle.
Thank you! The music used was built into my video editing software, I have since switched video editing porgrams and honestly don't remember what the song names or artists were sorry!
Hey, great review, thorough, honest, and informative. I've been considering this gun myself. Your review closed the deal for me. One question: I've only seen it with a 20-in barrel. Where did you get it with a 22-in?
Thank you, glad I could help! The 22inch barrel is a Davidson's Distributor exclusive. Meaning your local FFL would need to have Davidson's as a wholesaler to order their merchandise from. You can see this on Ruger's website.
Very concise and we'll done! I'm very impressed with the presentation, body, and conclusion of this fine firearm..I already have a Ruger American in 308 but I really like that Hunter Model. Please try the 180 gr. Winchester power points cause my 22 in. Barreled Ruger American pokes em into a single jagged hole @ 109 yds or 100 meters. I shot a group at 200 meters that miked out at 1.28 in! Always give the barrel 7 minutes time to sufficiently cool between shots for optimal results and good fundamentals of marksmanship will turn you into a formidable, single round hunter! No need to put two rounds in the gun, semper Fi
Great job! the only recommendation would be to take your spray strokes lengthways rather than strokes across the short width...will make the finish much smoother and eliminate any spatter...either way looks great. Thanks for sharing
@@Gamerj2014 couple of follow on Q's where did ya buy your preval sprayer kit, how much did you have left over and if ya had to do it again what would you do differently.
@@rhino67 I ordered the Preval Kit online, but it can be found at most hardware stores. I hardly had any paint left over. If I did it it again I would make sure to go slower on the trickier spots, such as the picatinny rails and small crevices.
I have 2 pair of these one pair for upstairs bedroom and 1 downstairs family room and like them very much. They sound really nice best thing I bought in awhile.
I have a stupid question if you don't mind. I was in the military and pretty much only deal with AR-15's and pistols. I want a hunting rifle and this caught my eye. It looks pretty big and I'm a smaller dude (I'm 5'6"). Can you shoot this standing up ? Or you have to be in the prone ? And I just want to confirm if the stock is adjustable if you don't mind. Can you also tell me what scope you are using ? I really appreciate it !
Hi Snakes, You could shoot the gun standing up if you wanted, but as with all long rifles it would be better resting on something. The stock is indeed adjustable for different lengths of pull. The scope I have on it is a Hawke Vantage IR. This a great rifle for sitting style/ light walking hunting. If I were mountain hunting and doing a lot of walking I might consider something a little lighter. The weight doesn't necessarily bother me, but everyone is different. It isn't crazy heavy or anything, but it is a little heavier than a run of the mill hunting rifle with a wood stock.
