@@Tomwilliam777 first Album George Miller aka. Joji cooked up under that name He had made at least one album before but he never released it and Burbank only ever got released on soundcloud
don't get me wrong, joji's newer music is still cool, but his earlier work during the chloe burbank and lost instruments era just felt so magical, it elicits certain emotions that I never knew I even had before, whenever I'm feeling down or alone I normally play some of the songs in this playlist and it does wonders. now that I'm older, whenever I listen to these songs they hit me with a lot of nostalgia, taking late night walks and playing joji and waiting for the ballads 1 drop. Its sad to see the route he's going with 88rising considering that he didn't really write any of the songs on smithereens, as well as it being a relatively short album after waiting quite a while for him to drop a new project, but hey, at least his older music will never get old.
Yeah facts bruh, i miss his old nostalgic vibes from Chloe Burbank and In Tongues, his new music just feels really commercialised, he should just go solo tbh
@@delusionalnoodles Just want to let you know that you have no idea what you are talking about. Cumstain8389 was a popular rapper who used to be part of 88rising and he exposed their ways in a recent interview. So, just know that he knows what he is talking about.
There’s this ongoing outcry by pink guy era (I don’t really know how to describe it) artists that is so misguided. Best example I can think of is demon dice; her music used to be so different before she joined hololive, and the drastic change in style is easily explained by they’re new management. This assumption, however logical, ignores the fact that these artists aren’t bound as strongly as it seems. They already have established alternative personas they can make music under, but instead they’ve taken an opportunity to start over and chase a different path. Same thing happened to Eminem/slim shady, they wanted to change they’re art and they found a way to do so
i used to listen to these songs years back when i was depressed and mentally drained 24/7...now i listen to them with fond memories somehow and a better state of mind. it gets easier with time, keep going.
I'm currently 23 and I remember coming across this version of Joji by accident when I was 16. It took me a couple seconds to realize that he was filthy frank, I was so shocked to even think how a man who made the most out-of-pocket content could make such chill and relaxing music. I often associated this era with some chill and good memories from a simpler time. I don't want to sound like a hater towards his newer stuff, but it seems like I just resonate with older works better than his newer projects. Just looking back, it brings a sense of melancholy for a time that is long gone. Either way, I am happy that joji is making it big.
Same bro I’m 23 now and I remember being 16 listening to this during my summer break in school, so much time has passed feels so nostalgic listening to it in 2023
Shiiiit, I guess ill jump in too. I'm 22, and I was actually introduced to this side of George first by a friend back in 2015 via his sound cloud. I knew of his filthy frank/Pink Guy content but wasn't really a fan of his until late 2016 when he was pretty much at the end of his RU-vid career. needless to say, I got caught up on most all of the content I missed and became a full fledged fan right at the beginning of his official transition to his joji persona, and away from his FF and Pink Guy personas, and the rest is history.
just turned 24 and i still come back to the chloe burbank tapes, my friends and i constantly talk about how he should drop another chloe burbank cuz honestly smithereens left a lot to be desired about his music but at the same time if this is where he is mentally the healthiest, i cant hate on it
Same thing happened to me. I was on my SoundCloud lofi and dubstep phase, and it took me two songs to Google it and find out my favorite youtuber was the same singer! Depressed now that all the yt leaving shit happened, feels like he never gave fans closure but don't think he realized how much we loved him, it's like he disappeared, living his own life without us yt fans existing. He's still my favorite music artist
Ahh good olé mid 2010’s Joji, reminds me of Highschool, the morning rides on the bus to and from school, going out for lunch with the boys, meeting new people in class, teacher lore, falling in love, skateboarding in the hallways, Joji was there for all of it. We need more of that Chloe Burbank style to come back and it’s pretty clear the old boy loves these songs to this day.
i adore these old tracks. such a tender personal feel to them. i love that lofi style of production, where you dont hide the seams of your creation, you can hear joji hitting the spacebar to end his recordings lol. when i was like 16 his stuff got me onto so many other artists. got me producing too, his stuff is relatively simple, but capturing that romantic/melancholic vibe is the very difficult part. by the end of this year i think ill try to put out some stuff like this, like an ode to chloe burbank i guess.
i remember biking under light rain in 2017, playing these songs, "and as far as we go, as little as we know" always used to hit so hard. being 21 now, these songs represents some kind of heritage, they are so precious to me, they feel utterly nostalgic. I truly wish joji can end his contract with 88r and slowly claim himself back. I live for the day another chloe burbank-like song is released.
God when I listen to Chloe Bur Bank and I close my eyes. I can vividly picture myself in my middle school art or theater class, drawing my little heart out. Or feel my body become lighter in times of anxiety, sadness, or overstimulation. I've taken this album with me by hand into adulthood. Feeling like the warmest blanket fresh out of the drier everytime I replay it. So warm even after all these years it can still lull me to sleep when I'm having a rough night. Truely comfort in its purest form
Chloe burbank hit so different back when i was 16 with my good old Friend Juan. we used to skip school hang out mahattan just chilling and being like any other teens would do in high school, at that time as well i was working in brooklyn as a waiter i was a struggle for me but my friend always got me back up. some of the songs now stick to me becuase of now nostalgtic it is that can never be repeated. Loved his early works even Ronald McDonald im glad i got to experience what joji had in New York City. Im glad it connected many fans from the FF days
oh absolute not, even if he leaves 88rising and joins a label that lets him have freedom he wont. but itll sure be better than whatever smithereens was
Joji has been a huge part of my life ever since pink guy era too it was just magical watching him transform from hilarious videos to making such beautiful music. Im glad i got to witness that ngl
memories of the beginnning of middle school with the chloe burbank album and now im going to start my senior year.. cant believe im still addicted to this album, but still i dont regret it .
When these came out, Joji was almost unknown, on the other hand, Pink Guy and Filthy Frank were at the highest level of notoriety, I remember those times with so much nostalgia
I used to listen to the Chloe Burbank album very often after breaking up with my first girlfriend, it was ugly. Now, i listen to the album as a married man to my beautiful wife and i have 2 beautiful children with her, time moves fast so make the most of it.
tbh I've always felt the same. I guess it's just the amount of time that has accumulated with the feeling and the recognition of a lifted ignorance that makes it seem different from before.
@@vviimmi So true, back then I did not know things that I know today, but at the same time I lived in ignorance while being "happy" happiness is ignorance in some cases since you were not too concerned about some things from being a teenager to adult life in short lol
Dude I’m glad you brought this up because man I remember listening to this when someone said you suck charlie sucks and I gave it a listen and dude I still love that song till this day and was perfect because I was also listening to lofi at the time 👏❤️🔥
i dont mind things like nectar and smithreens but, i just wish he was more involved in it. nectar was still hella solid cause he had plenty he did but damn smithreens he literally was heavily involved in like 2 songs. which is prob why those are the best ones. anytime i say this people just think im mad cause of change. i dont mind the more pop approach hes taking. i just wish it was him doing more of the work in it.
I thought I'd heard everything on CB and never heard Rain On Me! Have to go back to that album to see if there's anything else I missed. Thanks for uploading ❤ Fav: You Suck Charlie. Mans knows how to create an atmosphere. (They Don't Understand is runner up bc it gives me old PS1 Castlevania (symphony) vibes lol).
Always think about this, they truly do "Hit Different" Joji's older music has left such a big impact on my life and who I am as a person, the music is outright beautiful and somewhat nostalgic to me. His newer music is great, but nothing can compare at least in my opinion to his Chloe Burbank era, the amount of times I've relistened to this mix of music is so many times I've just lost count. I'm glad others sorta understand how I feel in the sense of how timeless Joji's earlier work is. Much love, thank you for the epic playlist ❤❤❤
1st found out about joji through filthy frank when i was like, really little. Atleast 8, I'm 15 now and his earlier work just take me feel like im a kid again
I got my first chance to see Joji back in September here in Dallas and he performed a couple sound cloud songs, one of my favorite memories of 2023 😭, btw Where are you finding these nice visualizers ???
@@BrokenNoodle I'm not sure what you don't understand bro I said thanks for showing me these songs that I didn't know about, and that this video was gonna get hella views.
Just to note, a complete version of "They Don't Understand" (not just the looped version) was found and its on youtube. Heres the link to the complete version of the song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZCOBjgA1WHA.html
