It is the worse when you remember some of the best moments in each area but some of the memories you forget exactly what happened and it starts fading away and forgotten forever.
I think they should add ability to choose a version of the game that you want to play. Minecraft does it very well, you can choose if you want to play 1.16, 1,18 or any other version.
You can still install older versions of Siege on a PC, even the very first one. I think you should be still able to play them on LAN with friends, or over hamachi.
night maps were the last thing keeping this game tactical and realistic and also the last thing holding it back from becoming a competitive esport. coastline at night was beautiful, i remember i used to turn on jackals goggles and look at all the lights on it at night whenever the match started, was great.
I started playing Siege in Y5S1 (Void Edge, in early 2020), quickly became one of my favorite games. Never really got to play on old Kanal, Oregon, Kafe, Hereford. Makes me sad seeing old maps & missing out on this era of Siege. Old Chalet was one of my favorite maps. It was the first map I learned in & out. Then it got reworked & I finally felt the pain that veteran Siege players felt. I’m thankful I got to play on House a few times before that also got taken away. Thanks for the video, Old Kanal fascinates me more than any older map. It just has a realistic & eerie vibe to it especially at night. A NATO base that everyone quickly got up & abandoned. Such a good theme.

I recommend you search up Operation Throwback to find out more! Also, I agree with you. Old Kanal, Hereford, House, and Coastline were amazing maps but Kanal had a particular vibe to it that wasn't matched by the others.
I just hate the rework of this map, even tho OG canal Was my favorite one. I'm from Germany and the map felt so familiar and I loved the design, it also felt more based in reality. But in the rework they turned it into some high tech Nato base, it's so over the top and fantastical. I wish ubi would keep (and add) more ordinary locations cuz that's where most terro*ist att*cks and special operations happen irl. But the game went from guy with sledgehammer to albino space women with Holgrams, the new operators aren't realistic nor really practical in fighting terro*ists, they turned it into a hero shooter and seemingly forgot that originally the operators were fighting terror*sts and not each other. Its sad what happened to this game, it went from gritty and realistic, too over the top fantasy.... I just miss the old R6 and Canal man 😢
ah yes the day before map "rework" is designed for tactical aspect and realistic building design and not plainly for competitive gameplay, still miss the old consulate tho, that map makes perfect sense of what a consulate should be
The rework isn't bad, but man did this map have some epic battles. Especially in basement, holy shit it got hot. I really wish I could play the old maps; it was when siege was best (to me)
really loved the old aesthetic of siege maps, it made you wonder what happened here, who are involved with this place etc. but unfortunately, realism doesnt equal to competitive gaming :') if these maps were some sort of singe player mode/PvE, it would have been extremely interesting. I do miss the old maps for sure, and I do want them to be playable in custom matches, but I dont really want them back in competitive map pool (maybe in Arcade once in a while?)
It does suck, but the old head of the dev team for siege just left and the new head has been playing the game since it's alpha which means some good changes might be coming to the game. I don't want to get my hopes up though
I quit the game for about 2-3 years and came back now and Im having a blast. I forgor how good this game was. Miss these d maps too. Starting playing during velvet shell.
I deffinetly agree with you. The changes made to this map were nesscary but they shouldn't have sacrificed the theme/feeling of the map in order to do so.
