I enjoyed your CDT quest so much I thought I'd watch the other two hikes. Your editing skills have improved. We are glad you took the time and energy to vlog your quests.
Very impressive first day, I’m 72 and hiked the first 210 miles 2019. Averaged only 12-13 miles per day. Got diagnosed with lung cancer in August, bummer. I’m getting treatments and my goal is to get back on the PCT 2021. I so love the trail. God’s speed and I will enjoy your journey with you. Thanks for sharing. I agree with you on the trail difficulty down to Hauser Creek 👍
Steve O ..... Best of luck with treatment for your illness. I plan to hike the PCT next year at age 72/73 after the covid postponement this year. Maybe we’ll meet and hike together, ... who knows. Ted from Michigan
I am SO thrilled that you have begun this trek! Been hoping for a few months it would develop. Us, unable to trek this year, need this mental and moral uplifting. Keep blogging to keep the rest of us sane, in a rather unusually un-sane world sane. Good luck.
I'm 55 and from the UK. The PCT has been a dream of mine for a long time. I am determined to do the trail (Rattle snakes and all!!) one day but may have to wait a while longer, hopefully not too long though! These videos are really so inspiring and do help to keep my dream alive - thank you!
saw you on THE TREK, and was hoping you'd get back on the trail. Just found your channel, so I've got some catching up to do! Best of luck, git r done.
I followed you off and on during ur hike and was amazed at the miles you were putting in. I have a upcoming start date on 4/5 and was wondering if ur just a fast hiker or hike longer days or both. I'm very concerned about my miles per day which is slow at about 11-13 p/d atm and was wondering if you could give any advise about how to get my mileage p/d up?
Walk at a relaxed pace of 2-3 mph, don't take too many breaks and try to hike for about 12 hours a day. Best thing you can do to get in more miles is hike for longer as there is a practical limit to how fast people can hike.
Your comment box on your first video was turned off. Thank you for your service. I'm also a retired vet, I was supposed to do the PCT last year, but I helped launch a cigar lounge in Redlands, CA. Anyway, I'd like to see your resupply plan and maybe get ideas for mine. I also planned, even for my plans from last year, not to go into towns much.
Nice to see you out there living the dream. I've been wondering did you have any problems stepping away from the military mindset when you started getting gear for this trip ? What I mean is that "2 is 1 and 1 is none " thinking and making sure , by carrying everything, that your prepared to adapt to any situation.
There's just SO many places to get absolutely surprise nailed by snakes on those paths. Eek. I know the tend to move away by the time you're on top of them which is my experience but yikes.
Like all others, the PCTA granted my permit in October 2019 before COVID-19. Since the PCTA grants the permits on behalf of the US Forestry Service, who never invalidated any of the permits last year, mine remained in effect. Additionally, the trail never closed in 2020.
