Old Man Lion-O Origins - Aged, Brutal & Ruthless Lion-O Has Alied With Mumm-Ra To Defeat Bigger Evil! #thundercats #80scartoons #saturdaymorningcartoons
I still remember the very first day Thundercats premiered when I was a little boy.. I was so excited to see that first episode when I got out of school that afternoon..
The audience were utterly utterly wrong about the 2011 series. It was bloody fantastic and I loved the changes. It was a real fresh take, it was gritty, dark and awesome.
I consider myself a pretty big fan of the OG Thundercats and I couldn't agree more! Everything from the art style, to character design, to the Silverhawks tease was incredible. I think the biggest reason that showed flopped was that for the most part the toys were bad. Most of the 3" figures were actually pretty good but the larger figures, playsets, and vehicles tended to be lack luster imho.
10000% true. Loved watching the original show on casette at my grandmother's house when I was a kid. Rewatched as an adult and loved it. Watched the 2011 and OMG fell in love with it for its more modern storytelling with more mature themes and complicated episodes & dialogue.
The reasons given why the reboot series was canceled are bogus. CN cancelled the series because it wasnt selling enough toys, the audience numbers didnt hold (because they kept changing the time slot), and because “too many girls” were watching the show (which, who cares the gender, people are watching)
I seriously wish they would make this into a movie already. Liam Hemsworth as Lion-o, Donnie Yen as Tygra, Quintin Rampage Jackson as Panthro, Kate Beckinsale as Cheetara, Liam Neeson as Jaga. Just make a whole mixed universe with Thundercats and Masters of the Universe, and let Chris Hemsworth play He-man.
@@johnmontgomery2321 well, the original really gave us back stories of the characters like the 2011 version and they took a lot of the old stores from the original, just put them in a different point of view think about lion-o and the original, his body matured before his mind and the new Clearly made it understood that his mind had to catch up with his body
The 2011 show had a lot of potential but it's very clear that Cartoon Network didn't know what age group they wanted to appeal to... some episodes were well written, some were dark, and the rest were directed at young children. They needed to pick one target demo and stick with them.
Really sad that Lion-O didn’t end up with Cheetara in the comics. That is what I hoped for since I watched Thundercats as a child. Instead, she ended up hooked with Tygra.
Even at the beginning of the original show Tigra and Cheetara showed signs of a relationship (though it seemed to cool off over time). But people would still complain since Lion-O was still a 12yo in an adult body
I'm so glad to see the world rediscovering lost and forgotten archetypes such as The Old King and The Necessary Evil (of which Soldier Boy is both) even if they are unaware of it
“We need a character name for the leader of the Thundercats. He’ll be the king, like the lion is the king of the jungle.” “How about Lion… O?” “GENIUS!!!” 👍
@@james89302the lion is just a poser. He just has that majestic look and roar. Tigers, on the other hand, look like large kittens. Remember Las Vegas? I hate to be any kitten's chew toy.
The more recent cartoon wasnt cancled because it deviated from the og story. Thats what made it interesting. It was canceled because they kept moving its show time to show Lego Cartoons and was userped for the cheaper lego chima
Kind of. It was canceled due to bad toy sales. Lego was working on Thundercats branded sets but when the show was nixed, lego retooled the sets into Chima (or whatever it was). I agree the newer show was more interesting.
I was around when the OG series came out and I also enjoyed that new series. I hate that the new one left us on a very dark conclusion that Mumm-Ra wins but I guess ultimately, Earth was his for a reason. What always creeps me out about the TCats is the fact it is actually similar to Planet of the Apes. 3rd Earth is actually our planet Earth but the setting takes places millions of years in the future after mankind is all but wiped out. The mutants are called that for a reason because they are humans who over that period of time mutated into these animal-like creatures.
Willy is completely different word that what's in the book. Willy and Wylie, spell and pronounce themselves totally different. it's like that Simpsons Quote.... "I wonder if this Homer Nixon is any relation...?" "Probably not sir. They spell and prounous their names completely differently."
I need the narrator to have watched Thundercats to know itself WILY Kit/Kat and not WILLY Kit/Kat. PuMYRA and not PuMEERA. CheeTARRA and not CheeTERRA. SNARF not SNURF or whatever he said. This video was torture because of it and you won't get my like.
This channel has butchered the names of others characters from other shows as well I just don't mean animated characters I mean live action characters as well
Nice I liked the Thundercats though I didn't care for cat or feline like characters in my DND days. The only or rather my one Thundercats comic involved superman. The animae was nice and I missed some of the last episodes and the revamp though nicely animated didn't really do it for me either. I could of hoped that a fan work kind of like what they did with dragonball fan would come up with a storyline featuring a good animae artist would start the fun over again but I don't know how that would work with copy right laws and permission but I am hopeful for some kind of reboot maybe show other tribes on 3rd earth and new enemies
One of my favorite shows ever about exotix humanoid cat people just trying to find a new home & the adventures they go on. I saw this comic in a store I should've bought it if I see it again I'm getting it.
this narrator's voice and cadence is very distracting. i think you guys need to find someone else to do this video and then re-upload it because i couldn't make it past 5 minutes.
Not bad. Could've been better. Mumm'ra being a nuance rather than arch enemy is lazy writing. All the years of fighting the TC to become team homies for one day doesn't make sense. Mum'ra should infuse his sorcery with technology to travel to there galaxies search of other powerful relics that could help him take over 3rd earth. Turning his pyramid in spaceship abandoned thoes ancient spirits of evil and find more powerful deities.
The problem with the remake was LionO insisted on making the same exact mistake every episode. And sometimes twice. "No. I have to do this alone" then "from now on we do this together" is a horrible way to move a script. Kids are not that stupid, and it was irritating to watch that over and over. The art, voice actors and concept were really good but pulling the "bullheaded loaner" routine got old quick.
Eh while the comic knowledge is fine, the information about the Thundercats reboot is completely wrong. It was cancelled due to low sales on merchandise which was meant to sell.
I'm a little confused. he keeps saying the Thundercats are 90s and I only remember it being on from 85 to 89 and that was only because they aired re-runs
ehh.. leets put it this way ,if it was the original creators/team ...if changes was for the sake of more consistency in a re-imagining i'd would have taken that.
Also Clearly i never read those, but thats almost definitely Rob Leifield art. Secondly whoever wrote those has zero imagination. Really? Dober Lord and the War Dogs?
Honestly when thundercats 2011 reboot ever gonna revive the same way it revived samurai jack young justice and Star Wars the clone wars so not only we see lion o in his older form after timeskip In season 1
Can it be any chance to change the narrator? I don't want to be rude or anything but the voice sounded hollow and unemotional as if an AI is involved in all of this.
Ok I’m trying to get through this but had to stop. Why do you keep pronouncing the name wrong? Have you ever seen Thundercats? Who is WillyCat? It’s W-I-Lee-Cat pronounced with a long (Eye).
