Here's the fly that really made it all click. This is an old March Brown dry fly. I tie it exactly the way it was tied a 100 years ago. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks

There is a reason these old flies still are tied. They work. Last summer I caught more fish on the March Brown than on my more modern flies. Beautiful tie, well done!👍🏻

Hey David, yes definitely more nymphs for sure. I just meant dry flies. I have a couple videos on stonefly nymphs. One small black stone and another was a big eastern stone. No bead on the big one. I used lead on the body to weigh it down. Thanks!

Crippled dun, fished in the film or just below. ?? Would softer hen hackle be easier to manage?

Nick, great job as usual. Love the fly. Thanks for the tip about separating the wings with the bodkin and adding a drop of us resin .

Magnificent. I wonder if it was listed as a dry? Do you think it night have been meant to sink a little-like a dead spinner or similar?

Definitely could have been. This thing would have SUNK though haha. Nothing holding it up at all. They fished a lot of multi fly rigs back then. Maybe it didn’t need to float if it was right below the surface in a 5 fly rig. I’ve heard people fished 10 or more flies sometimes haha ridiculous. Thanks for all the kind comments Terry. Appreciate it!

@@NickMango .I've read about those multi-flyy rigs-industrial scale. :-) I appreciate your clips. They are terrific. Stay safe and well. :-)

Hey Steve! Yeah makes total sense as a wet fly. I’ve tied March brown wet flies too. To see the upright wing though 😳. It’s like all they thought they needed to do was make the wing upright hahaha. Kind of funny. Thanks again for the article 👍
