Hello guys!!! Finally the Old World landed on the channel and, as the perfect excuse to work on super cool old models, it's here to stay 😁. Let me know what and HOW you want to see it painted for the next episodes! If it's something not in the new official range I'll hunt it down on eBay 😛 (yes, I just needed an excuse to collect more WHFB minis, lol) See you later at the premiere!!! 😘
It might be relatively daunting but I'd love to see how you'd go about creating a 10 or 20- strong regiment. Perhaps some AoS Chosen on 30 mm squares to complement Archaon in his adventures?
That looks amazing! its awesome seeing you back on youtube! i cant wait for more of these vids, personally id love yo see your take on a blue and white Duke of Britonia on his pegasus. Keep up the amazing work Marco its always a joy to watch you work.
I'd love to see you paint a knight of the realm or Duke on a Pegasus. Any chance you could do some legions imperialis tanks and infantry in the future?
Brtettonian cav regiment painted in varied high chivalry colour schemes that are super bright and saturated but with the modern NJM style that ties them altogether with light and shadow themes!
Love this Archaon. My friend got him when we were around 10-12, and I genuinely wanted to steal it, strip it and paint it for him. I was a bit more into painting than he was 😂
I'd love to see more Malifaux and Infinity videos. I know that your O-12 have been a personal project, but Even just an update or vanity shots on the socials would be cool to see.
With old world coming back, this is just a wonderful set piece for a Chaos Army, you always blow me away while still making techinque approachable...and Congrats on making that old ass Lord of the Rings model look spectacular for Adepticon Golden Daemon, you had one of the simplest but in my opinion coolest base in the comp (well, maybe second to the Space Hulk Scene; but exceptionally cool and unique approach to that mini)
I am now regretting that I have sold my model in the past. If the original boxart was painted like this, I wouldn't have sold it. A high elf model being painted next, would be great!
@MarcoFrisoniNJM, I love how this piece came out... probably one of your best. Old world setting is so engaging and so rich of visual references that any hero in your hands would tell a great story!
I would like to see something primed white, base coated in a florescent complementary shadow color, and then zenithaled in a white or grey to see how you overcome the technical problems to make the shadows hyper vibrant.
In all honestly I'd love to see your take on Bretonnians, not fussed what kit you pick to do. I have some knights of the realm I've been waiting years for arriving soon and would be interested to see what you'd do with them approach wise.
I would love to see you do old school Orion from the wood elves, the green knight, the giants of Albion if you can find them, the undead dogs of war (I forget the name) and finally the chaos dwarf lammasu and sorc (what an incredible piece of oldhammer that is!) Whatever you do I am so hyped for this series!
I'd love to see a video going into more detail of your planing steps and later execution. You always say that color theory is the ultimate speed technique. I'd love to better understand in what order you chose colors for a final effect and how you apply them. (Mortal without painting background here).
I've only just found your Channel through a recommendation of another youtuber. I've watched a bunch of your videos and I can say that this is the style I was looking for to change up my game, I was so monotone with my airbrush work that I couldn't understand how people made their stuff look so impressive and diverse. Thank you for that. I have learnt so much in a matter of days through your videos, I'm too poor to support directly but I'm liking all you videos as I go! 🤗 I do however have a small challenge for you, if you think you're up for it? 🤭 White and black with primary colours (Only one of each, so it's going to be all about the mixing). Paint a model using those, I'd absolutely love to see your work with something like that as I feel like it'll help me understand your take on colour theory, like your true black armour which was a massive eye opener, I've had it explained before but yours was an excellent take 👌 Thanks once again.
I'd love to see how to reverse engineer a colour scheme from looking at an end result. I can follow guides from the ground up but, i.e., I have no idea which colours to use as a base to achieve that end result.
Hi Marco, your channel is amazing and your techniques challenge pretty much all previous techniques I have used and learned. I love how you focus on light, vibrancy of colours and using color theory to create amazing effects! Do you have a preference on where to use certain brands of paint and kinds of paint (say: contrast, metallic, inkts) and/ of mediums to create specific textures? Also: do you use layering at all, except for when you are using the airbrush?
Thanks a million! Oh yeah my switching between brands and types of paints is always based on the effect/finis/look they produce; it's a huge topic that deserves it's own series because mostly based on the specific model and effects! Layering is always there in some form; all the brushwork on this piece is layering, but with very fine brushstrokes!
It was interesting that you did not use oils on this model. I was expecting after the using the white to diffuse the color that you would switch to oils, but instead you shifted to inks. what was the reasoning behind using inks instead of oils?
I'd love to see how you handle more of those Classic Old World models. I have a growing list. I know getting a hold of the ones we want seems to be another matter right now though.
Flashbacks from the past, I used to play with Chaos back then, my Archaon won a duel with Tyrion... I even have old Archaon on foot hidden somewhere! Thanks for a great video! Thanks to old world release I can finally grab a Necrosphinx, never had an excuse to have one then (cos of Chaos main!) , but now are different times 😂 how about speed paint Necrosphinx video? 😂
More Old World! Anything Old World is great!! In particular, Id love to see how you tackle painting a block of infantry... Also, have you checked out Highland Miniatures? They make some AWESOME models!
That milliput brush on trick is really interesting, how long are the layers taking to dry before applying subsequent layers? Would love to try this to smooth out some of my oldhammer models
It takes minutes to be dry to the touch ( and you can already move to paint at that point!) and 1-2 hours to be completely solid (it sets chemically so it doesn't need any contact with air)!
I know this trivial and doesn't matter....bbbuuttt the airbrush you are using is an Iwata custom micron cm-b, i believe. It is not the Iwata High Line series airbrush HP-BH as your link in the description shows. I just noticed and if I'm wrong sorry. I love your work. It is always amazing and your videos are so fun to watch. Maybe I should have led with that. enjoyed the video.
Hi Marco, do you spray your inks straight from the bottle or do you thin them somehow? What pressure and needle? I was struggling a bit with my Liquitex
hey! im in the north of ireland and was wondering where you got your golden so flat paints? ive been wanting to try them for awhile but havent found them anywhere
IMO this is probably in the top 3 best looking minis GW has ever released. New Archaon is cool, but to me they overdid it, the old one is so brilliantly scuplted.
So you can understand what we are trying to achieve with the process you are going to watch 😅 We give up the "surprise" for a better teaching experience
Such a cool mini! I'd like to see Malekith and his Dragon or any dark elves really in a style that makes the armor pop while casting them in a some shadows, like light is making the color show but not enough to be casting a glow Can't wait for your old world content
A big tip for anyone working with metal is to use fine sanding sponges (from art shops) as they are excellent at polishing up the parts before assembly
as someone who is currently collecting Slaves to Darkness for AoS 4th edition, this sure makes me wanna get the archeon instead. Phenomenal paint job as always Marco. I look forward to more Old World content and of course the most anicipated 4th edition of AoS
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM oh you know and I know, we all know the rats are coming back in a huge way! I cant wait to see what GW has done to the range if its anything like the Necrons and now the Tyranids have gotten in recent time
I was very happy to hear about goblin green bases style. There is something cosy about that era. Especially around 4th ed when claws and weapons all were red. As for models? My favourite is probably the wood elf dragon. But maybe something ogre size would be better? Also. They arent my favourite army... but I can not deny the clean aesthetics of high elves do look good
Marco, love the all the videos. And have ever started using oils, thanks to you. Question reference the molotov paints. I have been looking for them but only ever see marker stuff. Do you have a direction to look/link?
Got Archaon when they made him made to order. It was also the 1 model I regretted never getting during old world. I love that mini so darn much. Been intimidated with the assembly though... the gaps are ridiculous on the latest casts. Forgot how versatile milliput is! Thanks for reminding me I can use it to fill those gaps more easily than with greenstuff!
I’ve been getting some metal models from smaller companies and as much as I love the look and feel of the ranges working with metal is more challenging then plastic
Hey Marco, I enjoy your stuff so much! I was wondering how you keep your inks from reactivating when going over them with extra layers without first varnishing? I find if I don't varnish after using inks they just reactivate on me, especially if I try to use a contrast paint over them for a filter. Also I am going to adepticon for the first time this year and I truly hope I can meet you in person at some point! Thanks for everything!
Thanks! Inks are solid acrylic paints, but when applied with the airbrush they are stretched in a microscopically thin layer, so when washing/applying contrast you have to go over them with a single light motion; no back and forth/rubbing with the brush! After that, they are basically sealed under the new layer and you can go crazy. Nice! Except for when I'm teaching I'm going to be roaming around the show all the time 😊 it will happen for sure 😁
@MarcoFrisoniNJM any particular reason you are using Molotow paint? Couple of videos back I noticed them and was wondering about..I remember using Molotows in other activities 😂 wink..
Hahaha I come from that same wink wink environment 😉 They are totally matte, crazily opaque, super resistant and they are great in the airbrush straight from the bottle, so perfect for any kind of color blocking and base work!
Any paint can do that basing/color blocking job, don't worry! Molotow are particularly convenient for that specific use, but it can be done with any paint adjusted for airbrushing with a bit of dilution
@MarcoFrisoniNJM Oh boy you did it again! What two master pieces, the video and the miniature painted! I always enjoy a relaxing armchair with a cup of liqueur and (some herbs😅) enjoying your videos. I truly love them, they are special moments in my life! Missing the oils, I must say, but I love it. Latest Skavens video is still my top 1 ❤❤❤❤❤
Love this model. Brings back good memories. Your paintjob is amazing as always. Love the stylistic visible paint strokes. I agree on the Old World points you made. I just want to buy the models I wanted when I was a kid but was also hoping they'd put a bit of effort into updating some of the models a bit more.
Incredible work, i'm blown away by the result. I have 2 in stock, one original the other from the last made to order. I need to follow your video. That's one of the time in which I think "Trying to mimic it might bring be a lot of useful experience". That paint job is really powerful, I feel like the kid I was back in day. The impact of the paintjob gives me an adrenaline rush and strong desire to paint.
