Thanks Shane. Our tech team was able to put together a Barcode scanner to SharePoint app for our organization based on this video. A month ago I was able to do a Covid return to work readiness Forms POC using what you showed in another video. I have since signed up for PowerApps911. Excellent tutorials!

For those coming to this video now This control was deprecated and replaced with the Barcode Reader control. On this control there is something called [Contol_Name].Barcodes which contains a table of values and type of barcode scanned. You can write some code to input all of the data scanned into a database at once like: Collect(Attendance, AddColumns(Self.Barcodes,"User",User().Email,"Date",Now()) ) or pull the first/last item. It works just like anyother table. Hope that helps

Another informative video, thank you. If you could mention in your videos when you are referencing another video what the video title is and possibly the date. This is really helpful when you are referencing a step that you skip in the current video but say you already covered it, but I have no idea where to find that recording. FYI, Barcode scanner now supports the Select() method so you should be able to create continuous/automatic scanning via the timer as before (fingers crossed)

Good morning Shane, Just wanted to start of by saying you have the BEST videos for PowerApps. I am very new to PowerApps and having to train myself from ground up(not fun sometimes). I need some help though, I’m stuck. I have created a list within SharePoint and want to display a total sum of a specific column of all those number data point as a live updating viewable field in PowerApps and I have no idea how to do this. I figured I would come directly to the best person that would know.

Hi Shane, just getting into powerapps- your videos are just so useful! Also can't believe you take the time to reply to so many comments. So here's my question- my business records three things on three barcodes: a customer barcode, a "what happened" barcode, a staff member barcode. i.e. who, what, by whom. I've got those three things as columns in sharepoint list. How can I record those three separate things as a single row using the iOS barcode scanner (i can do it easily in power apps using a physical scanner and desktop)? Is it multi scan?

Great video. How would you go about decoding the barcode, for example a GS1-128 barcode. I can read the barcode but then I need check and read parts of the barcode depending on the application identifiers (AI) in the barcode. Thanks

Hi Shane, Really good tutorials. One question, is it possible when scanning to sharepoint to ad a total before scanning? I have looked around but cannot see a way. So for example, I am scanning inventory and need to put in say 5 of something I scan so as the scan in sharepoint list will show 5 items of the same product in stock. That make sense? I've been binge-watching your videos since I found your channel. My 14.5 year old black lab Jenna is under my feet with her marrow bone while I power through 6 -7 videos at a time! So many questions and ideas about many of the topics, but this one might be challenging enough for a followup with Barcoding? Can you think of a way to take collect multiple fields of info for a single record? For instance, instead of just scanning a part/equipment number and then adding the User and timestamp, can you scan a piece of equipment into/out of a Mfg Cell? So possibly 3 scans: 1.) the asset tag, 2.) the Mfg Cell/Location, 3.) TransactionType (i.e. In/Out)? - Thanks for your generosity and hard work for these very high-quality videos!

Hi, Shane! Maybe you can help me with a question please... I have already implemented a barcode scanner app and now I would like to extend its functionallity. I would like to implement a scanner that detects barcodes or the article number from boxes from a video. Smart divices running mobile computer vision software and image recognition. Somthing like detecting the text or barcodes from videos. Video frames are read one by one and text detection is performed to obtain text locations and then display detected text areas on PictureBox. Have you made something like this or could you help me obtaining more information/documentation about that?

Hi Shane! Using the option "Scan to Sharepoint" is it possible to show the user that the scan process was done with success? Or to emit a sound/beep, something like that? In the example shown, we only see the dots passing in the bottom screen. Thanks!

Great video with a lot of options. A question though... Is it possible to use a text field that can be populated by either manually typing in values or by sending the scanned data to it? I was thinking with something like the "Cart" video series. Form at the top for "fixed items" and the collection (in the gallery) shown underneath like the cart, but instead of pulling items from another data source, they are either typed in, or scanned in.

Hey Shane!! Love your tutorials!! I wanted to ask if you know a way to scan an item and it’ll automatically give it’s time stamp too. For instance, let’s say an employee opens powerapps, and powerapps has a list of all tools available in the workshop. Since there are many screwdrivers, and they all have barcodes. So the employee then presses scan under the screwdriver title, and on blank spaces below, it automatically displays the serial number of the screwdriver and the time stamp on what time he borrowed it. And does the same on return. I’m sorry for a long and complex question, looking forward to a solution! Thanks

Thanks for the video Shane, quick question. I want to create an app that has a database of products, when using the app to scan it needs to return a answer. I have a client base who can't see very well. In this case If I have a database list of recyclable products, the user needs to scan and the app should tell them if it's recyclable or not, place in general waste or recycling bin. This leads to my other question, I am new with powerapps, can I make an app and make it available to a certain client

Definitely not for beginners guys. He mention some important points that did not show how to do. Part of their business plan and this is more like an advertisement? He shows an overall view of how to add a scan button.

I have small query , we are in spare part business I want to create one app for 500 selected spare but the problem is we don't use barcode, we have 12 digit spare codes instead. Is there way we can use these 12 digit numbers as bar code that is question number one. Secondly I want to use this app for inventory management where in I will do inward as well as sale of the spares , is there any way we can creat app in which we can scan multiple codes and put spare qty manually y hand for both inward / sale entries. Shane thank you for all of the great videos. Hoping you can give me direction..... I have an app that has a list of items being pulled from a SQL Table. I added a new screen with the scanner button and I am looking to see if it is possible to scan the UPC (ItemNumber) and directly go to the edit screen based on the item number scanned. I have been able to navigate to the screen without issue on the scan but it does not load the proper item.

Hi Shane, Great Video. When you used the "Scan to Collection" button is it possible to send all of the barcodes in that collection to a single entry in Sharepoint. E.g I make a delivery to a business which consists of 4 boxes so I scan the barcode on each box then press a save button on the app to push those 4 barcodes into a Sharepoint field called "SerialNumber" seperating each one with a comma?

Hello Shane, I had a doubt. When I use the barcode control, it changes into a full screen camera preview mode. I want to be able to put content on top of the live camera feed, or have a smaller box showing the live camera feed, with the rest of the screen as normal static screen. This was possible earlier, where I could have defined the size of the camera feed, but with the new control, there is just a button for that. Is there a solution to my problem? Thanks...

Shane, I have stumbled across your videos in the past 3 weeks and you have helped me greatly. I have a question about selecting an item from a gallery, then it taking you to a "details" page with a barcode scanner to update a column on that selected item. When I click on scan, it just creates a new item in the SharePoint list and not updating the currently selected item. Any help would be much appreciated.

I tried this on the OnTimerEnd property "UpdateContext ({TimerStart: false}) ;; Collect (AutoScanner; {Item: BarcodeScanner4.Value; When: Now (); Who: User (). FullName}) ;; UpdateContext ({TimerStart: true}) ". But it didn't work. The same item complete the collection, over and over... This function doesn't work anymore? Thanks

Shane - question, I have a Scan button connected to a datacard on screen for the person to review and hit other drop downs to update the status of our trailers, etc. It updates my SharePoint that has the same fields, drop downs, etc. But some of the trailers do not have barcodes as of yet so I want to allow manual entry OR barcodescanner2 to set the data in the field and then hit the submit button and carry the values through and reset the form as I already have set. And can you give me some advice (some functions) how to create folders (or update folders) using scan barcodes? Hi Shane, Nice Video. I have one doubt here. we make scan collection. now if I have Item A & B with 2-2 Qty. So I scan all 4 Items. The output will be stored in a table like Item A - In Qty field 2 same for Item B after scanning. So how can we count items qty if items from same category?

Hi Shane, I am just wondering I tried the MS power app barcode scanner solution with your phone for checking in packages that we receive for tenants in our condo office into a office 365 SharePoint list, and while it works great for FedEx and UPS, it DID NOT RECOGNIZE USPS barcodes or when Amazon delivers stuff using their own Amazon prime delivery vans, it does not recognize their barcode system on the shipping labels. Would this solution enable me to be able to do that with those two types of codes? Also I have searched all over and the only videos out there are for barcodes and inventory purposes, but I can tell you that there are 100's of use cases for being able to scan all types of codes for package delivery. A video or blog on this would be very helpful!

Hello Shane, Having trouble with an app. I need my user to scan a 3 barcodes and then submit all the info to an excel sheet somewhere. The scan to sharepoint is halfway there. How can I get it to grab all the info on the page and send that to an excel file?

I haven't created a power apps app before but I would like to give it a go. Is it possible to push the value of the barcode together with additional fill-in info (Text)?

Hi Shane, your videos are my favorite. Is there a way to scan continuously? We are using a scanner to scan the item location and then all the items on the location. We push a button to scan the location and then i make it keep that location for each item. I wanted to know if there was an ability to just keep scanning all the items without pushing the scan button again?

Thank you for these tutorials - We are having a time trying to add hours minutes to the Now() in a Patch process. Want to scan barcode, and have it populate Sharepoint List. Working, but time added in the list is showing correct date but 12:00 or 5:00p but not actual time when scan was created. Can't seem to figure out a) if popssible or b) what the correct syntax is .... I am trying to add a latitude and longitude field to the scanned items to track where they are but have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure how to add this as field in the collection and submit it via patch to the SharePoint list?
