Made this twice now, second time I reduced the sugar to one cup (first cake was a little too sweet for my liking) - and was perfecttttt! Very important for butter and eggs to be at room temp! Tip: if the mixture starts curdling, just add the 1/2 cup flour and then continue adding eggs

you can reduce eggs to 3 and to make sponge with a bit of zing add some shredded lemon rind of 1 lemon and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.. Another tip ...granulated sugar is fine for cakes I always use it much cheaper than castor sugar but if you prefer finer sugar just grind granulated sugar in grinder ...hey presto you have your castor sugar ...
loved this and how you explained to get the icing right. I made it for iftar and it was lovely. My only change was I’d put it on a lower temperature for longer in the oven so it cooks without burning. I had to scrape off the burnt bit 😅but was still yum alhamdulilah
@@rukhsanaakhtar4643 180 should've been fine but I'm pretty sure it also depends on the heat of ur oven. In ur case, u should've turned the heat down a bit to let the middle cook

Second time making this cake and it was still so good. Only thing I would change would be the amount of sugar because it was too sweet and I would reduce the time for the oven since it kind of burnt my cake 😔

Heyy! I used 180 on a fan assisted oven and it seems that cake is burning but the inside isn’t cooked/ still battery what should I do please ? Currently still in the oven
Hey, I’m sorry for the late reply. I just saw this. Next time drop the temperature by 20°degrees and make it 160°C. Usually fan assisted ovens bake a lot quicker so to slow the process just drop the temperature and double check the settings of the oven.
Im going to try this soon and see if it tastes nice. The reason why i am not doing it today is because i need icing sugar!!! Edit: i made it a few days ago, and it was AMAZING. I would add just a lil bit more sugar, but overall it was delicious

Hey, you can divide the mixture in to two baking trays. The measurements will remain the same like I demonstrated on the video & ingredient list. Make sure you divide the batter equally.
