Those pace cars were cool....and a thing of the past. I don't know of any track now that has an "official pace car"

Earnhardt got some serious feature win stickers on that car. Even if they are from the same track.

Marty Robbins country singing star at :30, Ralph Earnhardt (Dale's dad) at 1:02, Dick Trickle at 1:15, Bill Elliot Falcon at 3:05 (not sure) and OMG all those beautiful Chevelles and Novas...... What would small track racing have been had the small block Chevy never been built?
@tomt9543
@tomt9543 3 года назад
And that’s Dick Trickle at .22 also! The #38 coupe at the end of the video was driven Jerry Cook, who was a 6 time NASCAR National Modified champion. Jerry and his crosstown rival Ritchie Evans saw to it that that title stayed in Rome, NY for a great many years! It was quite a rivalry! After retiring from racing, Cook went to work for NASCAR as the director of that series. MM, this vid is one of the best in your series! Thanks!

I think the 98 car was driven by Jody Ridley. He raced a car looked like that once at Toledo Ohio in the early 1970's.

Then there would of been a shortage of boat anchors ,cause those y block fords would of been winning races instead of mooring boats .

@@robertsmith7849 I'm sure that's a clone(recreation) They didn't look that good back in the day!

Before the small block there was the big block. Most Chevelles ran those from the mid 60's to the early '70's.

That pic at .48 just screams ‘70’s racing! Dang good looking car, bushy hair, boots and a kind of Jerry Reed persona! Absolutely LOVE that pic! Wish I knew who/where! Actual Detroit sheet metal, and probably frame (remember when cars had frames??). The good old days!

The 01 car near the end was driven by Ray Nece at MT.Clemens Race Track near Detroit in 1967-1968. A second look I see that the car shown is a replica.

At my home track in Asheville N.C back in the day I've seen drivers such as Bob Presley his son Robert who later on went into the bush and Winston cup and craftsmen truck series T Tommy Houston in that bad ass 69 chevelle Morgan Sheppard Handsome Harry Gant my old boss man Ronnie Silvers And who will never forget iron man Jack Ingram as well as more Hall of Famers as The King Richard Petty David Pearson Ned Jarrett Ralph and Dale Earnhart that track has hosted pure racing royalty to later be stolen from the people of western north Carolina and sold by a bunch of damn millionaires and turned into a friggin bicycle and walking park a pure travisity on justice and just plain wrong but I guess sometimes life just isn't fair that deal sure as hell wasn't at least it still stands down on the river and its taken care of enjoy your quiet Biltmore estate

I used to love going to the Asheville track back in the day. I loved the way Bob Presley would purposely cross his car up to get into turn one. The last time we were there was in the mid-90s with two Legend cars and we went two for two winning Masters and Chargers. That track was a lot of fun.
@dougfisher1885
@dougfisher1885 3 года назад
@@johncarter1137 yeah I'll say that Bob Presley was the only one to drive that track like he did but ol Jack Ingram sure gave it hell to I remember watching them throw wrenches at each other on a hot Friday night and the crowd threw beer cans and chicken bones lol lots of great memories from my boyhood going with my dad and going myself when I got older

Doug your story about your favorite track being bulldozed is being played thru out the country. People with money build up around the track and then complain about the noise. The owner doesn't wanna deal with the b.s so he sells and takes (a large) amount of money and gets outta Dodge. There are 4 tracks within a 100 miles of my home in Suburban Chicago that have closed within the last 25 years including my boy hood track Santa Fe speedway(Willow Springs Il.). The sad part is no tracks are being built to replace these.
