Saurfang has been around in the lore since before vanilla. He was the commander of Horde troops when Ahn'Qiraj gates were opened and the NPC you turned the heads of Onyxia and Nefarian in to for quest completion in vanilla.
I play both factions, but I am primarily alliance, but saurfang has always been the perfect example of an honorable warrior and the very best the horde has to offer, may he live forever in the hearts of souls of Azeroth!

John Arch He actually did. In the Shattering book(prelude to Cataclysm) Thrall asked him to be Warchief before Garrosh. Varok decline because he was still heavily grieving his son.
My take is that Saurfang doesn’t really see it at his place to lead the “new horde”. He was part of the Blackrock clan when the OG orcs drank the blood of Mannoroth and I’m pretty sure he was 2nd in command of Orgrim. Thrall basically saved the old horde from extinction and paved the way for a new dawn for the Horde. I feel like saw Thrall’s horde as a future for his son and the younger orcs. I don’t think he wants to lead it. He just wants someone (like Thrall) to follow.
Varok Saurfang is my favorite horde character. He's a high lord and has served the horde bravely for years he has been basically vice president warchief for years. His brother was Broxigar. There bloodline is totally bad ass.
Dylan Foster he did not intervene when Sylvanas went bat shit crazy. So he is as guilty in burning Teldrassil as she is. He might have been a revers warrior, but he haven't lived up to his high standard of honor at all. The only one who could serve the horde as warchief with some real morale and sense of justice is Bain at this point.
Also, a lot of people don't seem to catch on to the fact that he was going to use the Alliance as his suicide. He was going to claim his warrior's death, suicide by Alliance, if you will.

It's before the battle. He's claiming his warrior's death he always wanted. Especially after he was with the Horde since the start - demon blood, Shattrath, Stormwing, 2 war, 3 war, Wrath, Mists Legion etc... he doesn't want to be a part of Sylvana's Horde again... after Garrosh and all that. But that little troll showed him that there're young clear folks in the Horde, and Saurfang is willing to fight for them cuz they need him. He should just kill damn undead bitch tho
If you want peace between the factions Get Baine Bloodhoof for warchief since he has relations to anduin wrynn or get Thrall back since he always strives for peace.
it was a suggestion for those that did I personally dont care about sylvanas or where she is heading as a character I main Horde A Highmountain Tauren Druid I think it was a strategic move take the northern zones of kalimdor first amass a bigger army then take everything south of Kalimdor for the horde. thats how I see the burning of teldrassil. got nothing against those who thought that was a dick move by sylvanas btw.

I never played Horde until last year when I was like "I kinda wanna make a female Orc Hunter named after a character in a story I'm writing at the moment..."
No matter how much Sylvannas is reminded of her responsibilities to the Horde, her undead nature keeps resurfacing every now and then. She may be a great battle-leaders, but she is not one for peace.
If you see horde characters running around with no shoulder armor on those are the ones that have hidden their shoulders to show solidarity with surfing
I wonder if we will see a reveal where both Jaina and Sylvanas are revealed to be influenced by the void lords, and still fighting one another. "Ill will does, that evil itself undoes", is it? It's a cliché saying, but rarely put into practice(in terms of stories, games and lore). I'd be curious to see if that could happen.
Yeah, i feel the same. That's why i don't really want them to try to pull a redemption arc because what she did is unforgivable. The other somewhat comparable crime in Warcraft is the bombing of Theramore, and there we have to remember that most of the civilians were evacuated and it was first and foremost a military outpost very close to the horde capital. This, this was just genocide. They had won the battle, they knew that there was basically just civilians left on Teldrassil and nobody who could resist the full might of the horde and she still burned it. And not only was it just a pointlessly cruel and sadistic thing to do, it was a pants-on-head retarded move in terms of strategy as well. Her plan was to "shatter the hope and unity of the alliance" and "create wound that would bleed the alliance dry", and as predicted it did the opposite. Saurfang had figured it out, Sylvanas should've figured it out as well. Sylvanas may be a spiteful cunt but she's not a stupid spiteful cunt. Now the alliance is more united than ever in singular purpose and not only did it serve to strengthen the resolve of the alliance, it began shattering the unity of the horde. Saurfang is an incredibly influential horde leader and the racial leader of the main muscle of the horde, the orcs. And if Sylvanas loses Saurfang, Baine and the Darkspears will follow. From a logical standpoint and if the writing going forward is going to make any sense, Sylvanas just sealed her fate in Darkshore.
No matter how many times I've taken down Deathlord Saurfang I always feel bad for his father. Especially when I am in ICC as Horde and Varok has to watch it happen. 😢
The Forsaken Faction harbor no true loyalties to the horde their merely in a alliance of convenience Sylvanas has been playing mass genocide from day one the pre cata start quests for forsaken players revolved around creating the plague of undeath that she uses today
I think it's some old god shenanigans. With that glowing ore showing up and it being blood the planet itself ... I might think we will see some old god in the future that makes it impossible for peace to be achieved on Azeroth. And since world trees have some connection to emarald dream maybe it's corruption of the dream that is happening and she was closing the portals for that corruption to get in?
To be fair if you played Horde the Varian/Jaina thing doesn't happen he just goes to see his son. :D Wc3 era Thrall was the best warchief, he was the Horde; it just went downhill after that. Constantly changing leaders made them unstable with each leader altering the horde to fit their needs or wants.

The term nerd is not mean, and never was. It was always a simplistic diminutive from jocks, a form of jealousy. Jocks always had to live up to a certain way of thinking, and were monolithic and could never deviate from it. I don't think they will kill Sylvanas. But I do think she will eventually become factionless (neither horde or alliance). To be honest, she has never really been a part of the horde anyway. If you go back and listen to the intro for when you roll a undead in classic wow they actually say that the forsaken are in an alliance with the horde out of convenience and that they don't harbor any true loyalty to the horde. I wouldn't be surprised if Sylvanas becoming warchief was somehow orchestrated, because she certainly doesn't fit as warchief at all. Literally any other horde leader would have been a better choice (well, maybe not Gallywix :P).
Well Saurfang tried to challenge Malfurion to a Mak'gora so I think there's still that old tradition but I think applying it or having it will be VERY difficult in this time. Also Thrall and Garrosh did a Mak'gora in WoD.

People crying over how Sylvanas killing innocent people by burning the tree and making her "evil" make me laugh.. Obviously they all started playing WoD because if anyone actually followed the Lore from Vanilla you would know this isn't a one off thing, this is the norm for her. She is the deathbringer and will always be, so to suggest that "oh voljin with da spirits chose her because she will change to be more a mary sue character and be loved by all" is wrong (personally voljin as warchief was a joke) and with so many characters in WoW that are all lets hold hands and sing folk songs while still fighting each other??? Makes no sense. Sylvanas has always been the "Necessary Evil" since the beginning and will continue to be until wow ends.
Sylvanas started the war when she destroyed Gilneas & Menethil Port and used a weapon she was forbidden to use. She also killed Greymane's son there is a natural hatred towards her. If you started with the forsaken in vanilla you will know that Sylvanas has no true loyalties to the horde. She was always about bringing death to everyone but didn't have a powerful army to back her up. Now that she is leader of the horde she can express her self more clearly to her character. Hell they even did experiments to both alliance and horde members in undercity. If you need more proof go look at her lore. She is playing survival but only to the forsaken.
Burning Teldrassil does make sense in any strategic point of view you look at it. Holding it costs troops,time and food,Sylvanas has neither. Burning it deals a signficant blow to the NE,fucks over the Alliance s control over KD,and hinders their contest over Azerite. It s literally the smartest thing she could do.
To be fair the books are hit and miss. Some parts (Saurfang confronting Sylvanas in private) are good,others...(Sylvanas and Nathanos getting romantic when she usually gives 0 fucks about him besides ordering him around)not so much.
Think of game of thrones. Robert Baratheon was considered an amazing soldier, but a terrible king. Apply this logic to Saurfang, a man who's known leadership through action, but always despised politics.
Thrall actually asked him to be Warchief before he asked Garrosh. Saurfang turned it down because he was still in mourning for his son, after what happened in Wraith of the Lich King. He himself says he wouldn't be a good Warchief, true, but this is actually part of the reason he actually would be. He actually considers what his choices would cause, much like Thrall was like. He has honour and respect for his foes, like Malfurion (even Varian had respect for him, and that says a lot), much like back with the new/true Horde was, when it was formed by Thrall. Yes, he did a lot of bad shit back in the original Horde, but he's learned from it, and doesn't want to repeat it. The Burning of Teldrassil reminds him back of what they did to the Draenei; it affected him a great deal, but he see's just what this action has done; brought the Alliance's fury to their doorstep, one in which they will not stop until they have brought down Sylvanas for good, the Horde be damned. It's very much obvious that he would be a much better Warchief than Sylvanas is, and Saurfang represents what the Horde truly are, at heart. Not what Sylvanas has turned them into. And to note; this is coming from an Alliance player. I have my respect for the Horde, but Sylvanas has turned them into a shadow of what they once were. She's become another Garrosh and Lich King, and she's only going to get worse the longer she's left to her own devices.

It would be interesting if it turns out that Sylvanas is/was secretly working with (whoever) leader from the alliance. (because they know something the rest of us don't (yet)). That would be a huge blow to the alliance and even out that hole morally gray thing.. finding out that they willingly allowed it to happen in secret behind everyone's back. Its just too early in the story for people to start setting things in stone.

Considering the fact your profile picture is of WindWaker Link, I would think that you would understand that judging a game by its graphics would mean to miss out on an adventure with friends and allies alike. The game is fun for many people still to this day, so let them enjoy their games and they'll let you enjoy yours. 😘
I know you're a troll, but Graphics don't make a game. They never have and never will. World building, story telling, gameplay, player interaction. Those are key elements of a good game. WoW has it's flaws, but there's a reason it's still kicking after 14 years. Just because you don't like a game doesn't mean it's terrible.
