@Chelline R. Bruh. I'm just gonna say this rn. That should not negate his criticism of the progression issue. Just because you can circumvent it doesn't mean it should of been designed that way. Don't get me wrong, I love the game but this isn't about if you can. Because I know for a fact you can. The problem is that inevitably on your first playthrough you have to go back and do other challenges. And Planktopolis is still the hardest level in the game. Even with all the upgrades, it's not the easiest level to finish.
@@languageslover4401 I relate a lot too, the amount of tokens you need for the guitar is too much (the extra ones in the driving/sliding sections were really hard to get, at least for a kid). And then, when you finally finish the last platforming level, which skyrockets the difficulty, after having collected all of those tokens and being so close to the end of the game, you get hit with the fact that you have to, again, go back and collect more tokens. The worst thing is that this time it's not even for an ability, like it has always been, so you are not expecting it (because by that point you already have every ability), but for the new car. It hit me like a cannon ball back then.
Planktopolis is actually my favorite level in the game specifically because I found it so challenging. My eleven year old self really fealt a sense of accomplishment one I beat it after three days. I have never been one to get angry at a game merely because I find it difficult.
Dustwarewolf 55 Props to you I could NEVER beat the Planktopolis level when I had this game when I was 8. Mostly because I didn't know I could reflect Projectiles at the damn Merv enemy

RenderWare was also used to make Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas; all highly acclaimed games. So I think RenderWare has more hits to it's name than misses.
Also. In the roblox game version of this game.. Sandy Is a playable character.. But you have to pay robux To play as her. Also in that very same game the goofy goober tokens are used to unlock the honor of playing as squidward
The peeling of the disc label thing? That's disc rot. The data layer is right below that, I'm glad the game still works, but they usually don't after this happens. It's common in GameCube games that are stored under certain conditions.
When you upgraded the Karate Spin/Star Spin to the Macho Karate Spin/Macho Star Spin for the very first time, did you read the notification that told you that it could reflect projectile attacks, or did you just mash buttons and ignore it? The game already took a ton of liberties with the movie's story, so I don't know what would've been the problem with adding a third playable character. Another review well done.
Funny story about that section in the planktopolis level is that when it was the bane of my existance as a kid and i remember the only way i was able to beat that was with the reflection attack and there was an area where i hid and used the Guitar Move
Battle for bikini bottem is so rare!!! I swear I had it when I was a kid and I played the heck out of it but then the disc broke:/ ive been trying to find a copy of that game since it broke and nobody has it.. Its been 8 years since ive played it or seen it
I actually enjoyed that they had you go back through old levels, because in old levels there were a lot of things you couldn't do unless you had a powerup from later in the game, it let you explore parts of the level you would have seen earlier, but never could get to.
Great Review Dude, this is a really solid game. One thing about the Xbox version is that it's a little zoomed in, so that was disorienting for me because I'm so used to the PS2 version. Also, the GC copy is a bit more broken because of the limited storage on the disc with some stuff removed and or changed. And the framerate is bad in some levels because they run at 30fps instead of 60. But, it's still really good and it's gorgeous in HD Widescreen, if you play on an emulator. I hope this game gets remastered by THQ Nordic whenever they announce the games coming back. Because I could imagine what the game will look like if it does. If you do more reviews, could you do the Nicktoons Unite Series or the Tak and the Power of Juju Trilogy made by Avalanche Software?
Well to be fair Sonic Unleashed is a 3-D platform game meaning that if you take your time and explore the levels and the different routes and the like you can easily amass enough medals to unlock all the stages and defeat Dark Gaia and there are even additional missions too you could play. This though is absolute rubbish. Thank goodness for cheats huh?
By the time you get to Adabat's day stage you no longer need medals. At that point they are optional. The last stage with the medal threshold is Adabat. Crimson Carnival does not have one as it's a mega level that leads to the final bosses. As such you shouldn't bother with Eggmanland's medals unless you are going for completion.
I always remember this game as a kid, mainly glitching inside of the ice cream sandwiches as Patrick and getting stuck in the wasteland big because my 6 year old brain couldn’t figure out how to progress past that huge sea urchin pit Fun time
13:06 These platforming challenges w/Patrick have one major flaw, which is that the timer doesn't reset when you die. You can be taken back to your last checkpoint with 10 seconds (or less) left on the clock, so you may as well just start over.

My only joke is that the funny thing about most of these reviews I've seen for the SpongeBob SquarePants movie video game is that they actually say the name "Battle for Bikini Bottom" more than "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game" which I guess makes sense since many people loved Battle for Bikini Bottom and were using that as a guideline to see whether this game stands.
man, i wish my Xbox version was working of this game. it got drenched in alcohol. but nice review though, i also subbed. it also kinda bugs me that Mr. Krabs's voice wasn't in BFBB and Truth or Square.
Great review. I love the first two Heavy Iron Spongebob games. The movie game is actually special to me because around the time I was able to play it on Xbox my parents had went through a really bad divorce and this game was one of the things that helped me get through those first few really bad months.
It's too bad they probably won't ever remake this game, it could really do with some rebalancing, I love the game but the combat missions and the goofy goober token requirements are kind of annoying, even on a casual playthrough you're forced to do most of the available missions just to progress which is annoying when you have to do it every other level, I understand why they did it, probably because it was too short of a minimum playthrough but it doesn't make it any less annoying. Also this may just be me but the load screens are pretty atrocious, they aren't Sonic 06 level but they take a solid 20-45 seconds on GameCube which sucks when you constantly have to load new missions to get those tokens, so you end up having to sit through them multiple times before having to sit through one more to go to the newest level and finally unlock the new move you need to progress
Oh man you pointed out so many annoying memories I had. Mindy claiming you need more tokens to learn a new ability but you're already bored of the old levels. And being stuck on welcome to planktopolis but figuring out at the last second you can deflect enemy fire. WTF!!!
Wait, now that I think of it, why did plankton even try to steal the formula again in the second movie? Wouldn't he have memorized it or at least made a copy of it after he stole it from the krusty krab in the first movie?
Super Mario Sunshine is a good GameCube games, but Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, The Wind Waker, SSBM and etc are the epitome of NGC fun!

Why Mindy needs goofy goober tokens is obvious! The tokens are a special variant that hold a large sum of power that Mindy needs to charge her magic, witch in turn allows her to give powers. I guess

Nice review Cooper I played this game as a kid too and god those Goofy Goober Tokens were a nightmare, I didn't have much of a problem with the Sun and Moon Medals in Sonic Unleashed but the Goofy Goober Tokens GOOOOOOODDDD FUCK YOU MINDY! I agree with you that Battle For Bikini Bottom is the better game but that doesn't mean the Movie game is bad, I'd give the Movie game about a solid 7/10 and Battle For Bikini Bottom a 7.6/10 And yes I've seen the Spongebob Movie... countless times that movie is great.
