Hi Sandy..... the tin can book just proves you can write a book about anything. You have Borden nearby, I had their competitor nearby. About 15 min from my home is the town of Carnation where there was a place called Carnation farms..later it became Nestle. Nestle sold it to the Camp Corey foundation for kids facing serious sickness to go have a fun time. They could not afford it anymore, sold it to a Carnation family member who then gave it back to Camp Corey to continue their non profit.

How cool is that Teresa! I did not know about Camp Corey and what a great story. I'm glad they still have access to it, that is such a good thing for those kidlets. My mom's brother had some challenges and needed a special place to be in his later years. He landed at Easter Seals House by Chicago. It was amazing. He had a job, was independent at the facility and it was cool to see him comfortable. My sisters, cousins and I grew up with him in our lives and he was a hoot! At the ESH, he popped someone for touching his 'penny bank'- a piggy bank he kept his change in. Never touch the penny bank! I loved him so much. I think he was in our lives to teach us to care and have compassion for everyone. We really never looked at him as 'different' for that matter. He was Donny. Sheesh, where did that come from? So many great memories right? Have a great evening friend- hugs!

@@woolaminajunkjournalsthanks for sharing that. So happy he had a place like that available to him. My Mom was a cook in nursing homes and one of them was a place with special needs people. On occasion she was allowed to bring a few over to our house to visit. One in particular was named Melanie. When she was small her Mom left her on the door she of a home that cared for special needs kids. But, there was nothing wrong with her. They raised her and she never matured past about 10 yrs old mentally because of her social environment. My mom took a special shine to her and she was with us often. Funny how these memories are sparked. Hugs!
