Schrade AKA "The Smith and Wesson Holding Company". The Sharp finger was introduced in America in 1974. By the way, the price of a sharp finger hasn't changed all that much in the last 50 years! It's still around $20! They QUICKLY switched over to Stainless Steel because the Carbon Steel versions would turn black with oxidation right before your very eyes! (if you lived by the coast like I did) ALL of the many Schrade knife companies, Old Timer, Uncle Henry, Imperial, etc either went bankrupt or were on the way out and got bought up under the Schrade banner and kept afloat... The Scales are NOT plastic, they are called Delrin. Delrin is magnificently tough! Resistant chemically to nearly everything, and doesn't wear easily. Great stuff to make knife handles out of! That's Old Timer's name for THEIR recipe for Epoxy Resin and other (secret) stuff. Epoxy Resin was invented back in the 1920s. No doubt you have heard of G10? That's epoxy resin baked in a vacuum to suck out the bubbles. Or Micarta? That's cloth dipped in resin and squished together. Back then Plastic was actually quite lethal until the 1950s when a guy named Tupper invented a NON-lethal plastic. Maybe you have heard of Tupper-ware? So epoxy resin was popular because it wouldn't kill you when you handled it. The 1940's to late 1960s were remarkably lethal! President Nixon doesn't get half the credit he deserves for cleaning up the toxic messes left by his predecessors...
