A Whiskey Sour with a float of red wine on top is referred to as a New York Sour today.

That was pretty interesting. I'd actually like to see some of the more complex classic cocktails just to see the differences when there were more steps involved (I'm actually not even sure what mixes existed at the time so I'm not going to go listing any off). I enjoy this show and would definitely like to see more, but there was something particularly entertaining about envisioning how things used to be.

They didn't typically add a dry red to a whiskey sour: that's a New York sour. They did however use egg whites, dry shaken and the shaken again with ice. The video is well edited though, and the tools used are very interesting. I'm gonna subscribe.

No egg whites and dry red float makes it a ny sour. Classic whiskey sour should be 1 lemon 1 simple 2 whiskey and 1 egg white for body

Doesn't a whiskey sour have egg whites in it?
@lonewolf209
@lonewolf209 7 лет назад
Depends on your location. Sometimes they add the egg white and keep it a Whiskey Sour but in some places when you add the egg white they call it a Boston Sour and the Whiskey Sour remains without it. There aren't many universal drink recipes and most of the time the recipes will vary slightly from location to location.

Sam Lindner not the alcohol % , processos of destiliation are more accuratted now, so less impurities better comservation of original flavours and more % alcohol, back then taste was strongger because of the same reason, more impurities stronger flavour, but not a nice taste jajaja sorry for my english hope you understand it

It kills me that today it's ok to serve a chilled strained cocktail by holding the bowl of the glass and not the stem. It spells amateur all over it. Ruins an otherwise convincing spiel implying it's a video featuring highly professional bartenders.

The most annoying part of this video is that he pronounces "Apotheke" incorrectly. It should be a-poh-tha-kay as in apothecary, not app-a-tek.
