The fact that both of them agreed on not playing mystic mine had me laughing for a minute

Honestly I tried playing Yu-Gi-Oh again after watching these guys play fun games together. Made me miss the old days when I played, so I invested a few hundred into the game, bought some stuff, annnnnnd I hated it. Every game I played was how Alec was describing it. The enemy player seemed to only want to be able to tell me "no" and when I learned that people went so far as to find specific loop holes to avoid an ash blossom... I knew I was out. If my end goal was to make sure my opponent wasn't able to play the game at all I knew it wasn't for me. Switched to Universus and so far so good.

I really do like the concept behind old school yugioh. You are a duelist calling forth your own selection of creatures to fight for you. You back them up with spells and traps. You battle against opponents who do the same. You battle back and forth several times until one emerges victorious. It's was like a fantasy battle between summoners. Until the wombo-combos attacked.

Ill never forget when I first made my Evil HERO Deck when they first released in 2007 i think. I would wonder how to speed my decks up. I started to really analyze the game and different cards and didnt like how slow non counter traps were. So I decided to remove all Non-Counter Trap Cards (Since Most Counter Traps are reactive cards that stop plays) and replaced them with Spells since they give immediate results and used Quick Play Spells to work as Pseudo Traps. People would ask me how I sped my deck up. I simply told them to take all (Useless) non counter traps out and use Spells/Quick-Play Spells instead. They thought it was a joke. Flash Forward 12yrs.

playing mystic mine to stall for a turn is one thing but making the whole mystic mine burn deck is the real problem with that card and why it needs to be banned, once they set up mystic mine, goddess skuld oracle and field barrier you are just doomed

After playing master duel and seeing all these yugioh skits online about todays players and decks I'm glad for me yugioh was something I enjoyed within a small friend circle for a couple of years. The joy that came from getting a super rare and adding it to your deck that didn't make any sense never got old goodbye yugioh you were amazing once. By the way these videos are hilarious love it keep up the shenanigans.

The guy playing the professor did an excellent job! Really got this feeling of an old-school player, who clearly knows his stuff. I'm not sure if it is this or the fact that I grew up with the old card game during the OG anime series with the pharao that I really, really wanted to agree with him, even though I know card shop guy is more up to date with the meta. Kinda hard to say, where I do stand exactly, considering I only play in Legacy of the Duelist, where I do have decks, where I play as many cards as possible (as card shop guy argues), while having a personal preference for the old school way of playing (as the professor argues) and not really being able to go full-blown OTK-meta of doom. Oh, also I keep away from Pendulum summoning. Like what the hell? Why? I just wanna have fun! DX All in all: Nice skit! :D

I like Paul's advice. Some of the specifics may be outdated, but if you know how to think critically, you can make a deck that can blow you're opponents out of the water. Like I've been running basically a normal monster deck with some Tenyi stuff, equip spells, and some hand traps, and I was able to make it to platinum in Master Duel. By all accounts, it should barely work at all, but it does! And when you see it in action, it makes a lot of sense why it works. You can consistently summon a 4000 atk monster on your first turn with only 2 cards, 5200 with 3 (technically 2, because you're using a tenyi's SS effect to tribute summon a lvl 6, but tenyi effects can be activated from the hand or gy, so you're not really changing much) From what I've experienced, people don't seem to run a lot of monster removal, so you don't have a lot of worry about losing the monster unless they can summon a monster that somehow overpowers your monster, but in the case it is destroyed, it's really easy just to summon another 4000-5200 atk monster on your next turn. Because you need so few cards to essentially get your win condition, it makes the deck extremely consistent and the opponent basically cannot disrupt you. And because you need so few cards, you can maintain excellent card economy for longer. And lastly, the disruptions in the deck are magnificent. Hand traps are, well, good, and this deck can use skill drain with no concerns at all at affecting your own board, and the tenyi monsters are a real sleeper hit! They all can be activated from the hand or gy, so they're hard to see coming, and their effects are great!There's one that can yeet any card on the field back to the hand, another that can negate an affect that targets one of my cards, and another that, in the case a normal monster gets destroyed, you can just summon it back to the field AND destroy a card your opponent controls.

“Scoop as soon as you brick” Man I always do that in Duel Links. I always end up bricking with Noble Knights.

I know a tip for deck building where one thing I do when making a new deck is looking at a build of a deck as a base outline to get an idea on how it works. and then change out and add other cards to fit my play style. For example I used this method to make a dark armed dragon world deck which is a more beatdown focused build of the standard zombie world deck. I’d like to hear any other tips and tricks people use.
