Coming from a long line of Duke fans, I pegged Batjac JW right away. My favorites have always been Turkey Creek Jack Johnson and Texas Jack Vermillion from Tombstone.

I'm Wheelgun Dan, my father is Joe One Eye, my Uncle Richard lost a thumb on his ranch. (How the heck he ever got those massive flapjacks to land perfectly centered back into that cast iron skillet with only one thumb remains a mystery to this day.) I grew up in Southern Arizona in a day an time where revolvers were the only kind of gun there was. (Queue the guy in the audience who wants to yell "What about 1911's!?") Yeah, never heard of a 1911 growing up. Everyone, good bad or ugly had a revolver. Of course, mine back then were made of plastic and called "cap guns" but even those were at times made very well and had the look & feel of a real classic Smith & Wesson revolver. Even though I own/carry/shoot a bunch of them newfangled fancy-pants handguns, somewhere in the back of my mind, I still think revolvers are "real guns" as opposed to all those modern plastic guns. So my name bears a direct reference to my fondness for revolvers, my desire to remember my upbringin's and the fact that I probably own more revolvers that anyone I personally know.

My favorite is John Henry "Doc" Holliday. In SASS, I was known as Gray Rider or The Gray Rider since I am a huge Outlaw Josey Wales fan and I am a Confederate reenactor. My Aviation callsign in Civil Air Patrol is Thumper. I am a big Disney fan and had a pet rabbit that looked like Thumper.

My great grandfather was James Preston Harrah. He was known as Press or Preston. He was a ranch manager in Hanford California when the Mussel Slough incident occurred.

I used to go by a different name online until I joined a persistent posse on red dead, since I was always up north whenever someone else came on I got the nickname of “The northern Gunman” in the group. Thought it sounded cool so I decided to change my name, unfortunately Xbox has a 12 character limit so I went with Alpine instead.

I always considered having my nickname be “The California Kid” if I ever move from civil war reenacting to western shows because when I was younger I always wanted to do a character style similar to Emilio Estevez’ Billy the Kid from Young Guns.

In our group I portray a bad guy. I came up with Bulldog McNasty. I own a couple of English Bulldogs and "McNasty" is such a great Bad Guy name.

Erastus “Red” Yeager, who's last words before being lynched were reportedly: _"Goodbye, boys. God bless you. You are on a good undertaking."_ George "Clubfoot" Lane, whose last words were: _“Believe in my innocence, I am not able to witness these deaths,”_ before jumping off the box himself. Not sure "Whiskey Bill" Graves had any last words, but I have heard he was rolling a cigarette when he met his end (that is he had the string of the pouch held in his teeth). "Greaser Joe" Pizanthia also probably had no last words given he was shot and killed. If "Dutch John" Wagner had any last words they may not have been understood by those there, since his native language was German. Now ol' Boone Helm didn't have a nickname ( that I know of ), but he did leave some of the most memorable final words I ever heard: *“Kick away old fellow, my turn next. I’ll be in Hell with you in a minute! Let ‘er rip!”*

Great video. Greetings from the quarantine. I grew up in the South and nicknames were/are a part of culture. I had jobs where I only knew folks by their nicknames. My best friend was Long Bill ( he was tall) and I worked with a Dangerous Dan ( liked to fight).

Joaquin Murrieta had a guy in his gang known as Three Fingered Jack, also. He met his fate (allegedly) at the same time as Murrieta, but his head toured around California for some time afterward. No word on what happened to the remaining fingers.

People now call me Doc because I'm a doctor but growing up I was always called Hoot. A buddy of mine said I wore a hat like western movie star Hoot Gibson. Everybody back in southeastern Kentucky where I was born had a nickname. Here's a few ,,Papaw Martin's nickname was Bottle, my dad Bill was nicknamed Bundy, Papaw Paris was nicknamed Pimbletoe, Tom McQueen was Black Tom(he could stop the bleeding from dehorning a cow before he even got to your house), Sam Medlock was named Sam Dude, my brother is Bungee, other brother is Root, I could go on but I won't ,,,

I'm a believer that you cannot give yourself a nickname. But for things like CAS and other reenactments you kind of got to give yourself one. At my last job I earned the nickname 'Phantom' for two reasons. Fixing mechanical/robotic issues before the end user realizes there is a problem. Also for appearing suddenly in front of people and usually scaring them. Such as stepping off a robotic floor into a station and nobody ever really expects anyone to enter into their area from that location.

Now, I'm not sure I remember this story perfectly, but I have a middle-aged friend down in León, Mexico whose nickname is "El Gato," the cat. They call him this because his grandpa, a member of the feared "Rurales" rural police, saw his blue eyes when he was born and said "You know, this baby has the eyes of the man I killed this morning. They called him El Gato, because of his eyes. I'm gonna call him that." The Wild West ended a little later down South, lol.

There was also Texas Jack Vermillion and Turkey Creek Jack Johnson who rode with Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and Warren Earp during what people called Wyatt Earp's Vendetta Ride. Though I dont know how Turkey Creek Jack Johnson and Texas Jack Vermillion got their nicknames.

The Swede was the name of the gunsmith in El Dorado that gave Mississippi the shotgun. I believe the guy playing swede was the actual gun propspmaster for the movie.

Ah, a nickname. I was given one as a kid and I still use part of that name in my email address. Some of my cousins still call me by that name, and a few of my nephews do too. I asked my mom what my nickname meant in Spanish (she always and still speaks Spanglish), and she said it was just a cute name she made up. My aunts however told me it was something derogatory. I believe my aunts. Ha ha ha ha
