A good friend of mine owns a NY made Martin parlor size. Martin left NY for Nazareth, Pennsylvania in 1838. It has the original coffin case. It is one of many vintage Martins he owns. I've played them all. Good friend to have!🎸

That place is amazing. I used to run a company that made circuit boards for Allen Organ. My two favorite stops were Allen and Martin. Way too cool! You can "Feel" the mojo in those places. Especially in the old shop areas. If you ever go near there, stop in and check it out. Excellent video John. The word you're looking for John is "Fillet".

I play an 1808 Gennaro Fabricatore guitar. That may be the oldest Martin, but not the oldest acoustic guitar.

the fabricatores are absolutely beautiful. i honestly wish they remake parlors that are shaped and decorated as intricately as they did the romantic era guitars

The National Music Museum in South Dakota has a Stradivarius guitar which was made in 1700. They have a truly remarkable collection.

In the Philippines, one of the oldest guitar brand is "Lumanog", founded in Guagua, Pampanga in 1908 by Luthier Angel Lumanog.

I've gotta point out the goofiness of the 'headline' title here, "Oldest Acoustic Guitar Alive?" Oldest *Martin* branded guitar, sure, very likely; but "Oldest Acoustic Guitar"? C'mon... who wrote this? It's even mentioned in the video and accompanying article that Martin was influenced by Stauffer guitar design and construction. And there had certainly been many, many guitars and guitar-type instruments made for- well, a very, VERY long time...

Where are those catacombs in Europe with all the mummified priests and patrons? Spend a night in that place playing House of the Rising Sun, and I would consider that Doom enough.

Playing like you're a 90s pop star wasn't the thing to do. Man, you looked extremely out of place trying to Bob your head while playing an 1830s Martin. It came off as overly fake and played up for the camera, which was not needed whatsoever.
