I live in the US, this was one of the first football matches I ever watched. No idea why it was televised here, but wow... what an introduction to this sport. I have quite a soft spot for Oldham now
we are down in the vanarama national league now but after years of struggle we now have our club back, tomorrow we travel game on my little girl can't sleep so excited match day keep the faith OAFC Bluesssssssssssss
I’m a city fan and Oldham is my second team seen as though I live in Oldham and when I went to this match omg the atmosphere was amazing and I loved it. Just sad they been relagated hope they get promoted to premier league whenever that time comes
You put a hundred pound down on League One Oldham, after losing 7 of their last 8 in the league, to beat Liverpool fielding Sturridge, Suarez, and Gerrard. You should’ve won a million!!! Lol bet you were chuffed!!
"Winning the Carling Cup isn't anything to brag about" That's what big clubs think because they can't be bothered with the £100,000 prize money and lack of prestige. the FA Cup is now falling into a similar problem. It's worth winning, if you don't think it is, your problem. You still play against big teams, and you still beat them. The semifinal against Manchester City was against a near full strength team for both.
Just goes to show, just because your squad is worth £114 million, compared to Oldham's £0.00, doesn't mean you can win. It's whether you play better, not have more money. I'm surprised Liverpool played their first team, it's not like they thought they could loose. But what happens? Oldham 3-2 Liverpool.
Because whereas liverpool do have a lot of silverware, that is ancient history... seriously. i don't know any club which makes this much of a big deal about silverware they won 30 years ago.. it has NO effect on how your team currently operates at all. for the last 20 years Liverpool have been FAR from being one of the two best sides in britain. and for the last 4 years they've been completely fucking mediocre. that's where the sense of superiority comes from. their CURRENT state.
Seriously liverpiss are so reliant on Suarez and Gerrard. take Chelsea's two top scorers away (Mata, and Lampard) and they still have a good team. same for United. same for City, same for Tottenham same for Arsenal. that's the distinction . Liverpool are a mediocre team with two great players. all the others i mentioned are just great TEAMS.
yeah... you've actually got DIFFICULT fixtures in the league now. so prepare to start falling down it again. You'll Always Walk Alone, except for in your dreams.
Who cares they beat us? It's football. Football is all about shocks. Oldham wanted this more and they proved it against the other Merseyside team, Everton. But you United, Arsenal, Tottenham etc fans can't say much as every team has had upsets at one point or another, rather last year, this year or even 10 years ago. It still happened. Respect to Oldham, though.
Wasn't a major shock this when you think how Liverpool Struggled against a Non-League Mansfield in the previous Road. Coming up against a determined Oldham they were always going to be in trouble if they were too casual.
Can’t believe what happened to Oldham, so sad. What a dream it would be, if you did a Luton and came back to the Premier League from where you are now😔
everton, liverpool and city all put out full squads against Oldham and still they cant beat us, maybe never happen again, but shows to all the little clubs you can beat the bastards! OTID
i dont begrudge you the win but if you think jack robinson, coates and brad jones for example are anywhere near regulars you're very mistaken. I've just seen the highlights for possibly the first time since (understandable right?), and just noticed how robinson was just as bad as coates/jones. For the second, he decided to have a runabout to the opposite side and promptly fell down by himself. The third, he might as well have headed it in himself with that attempt at defending.
fair play mate, first reasonalbe premier league fan their is, but youve gotta admit for a premier league side to get beaten so easily, yeah theyre might not have been a full first on, but robinson, coates and brad jones all cost the price of our full squad, good even match, both great supporters, what the fa cup is all about, hopefully we can beat mansfield and we'll see you in a few weeks at anfield
peteman im a UTD fan and I int going to be bitter Liverpool are/were/always will be a huge club. But you have been mediocre for some time you should be challenging for league titles and lets be honest in premiership history you have only ever been in the title race once. That is embarrassing to be honest for a club like Lpool. Were'as Utd are mainly top two every year their a banker on top two, the gap is huge, will you win things, sure yes you will. I just think two many good clubs at the momen
the same trophy which SWANSEA won this year, Bradford nearly won this year. Cardiff nearly won last year. and BIRMINGHAM DID win the year before that. winning the Carling cup isn't anything to brag about.
CONTINUE: It's not just us you got too beat Chelsea aint going nowere and neither is City or Arsenal(Yes they don't win much but who would win a prem next you or AFC?, I no who id say) so I don't know I think your getting their I actually like the Dan Sturridge signing but then Suarez be's a dick and it goes to waste. We beat you 2-1 at OT last year and second half you played us off the park, same at Emirates, same at City s their is potential for sure.
and that's still a massive exception. The problem is, that only midtable PL teams or lower than that actually do view the carling cup as worth the minutes you'd play in it. because of the meagre cash rewards, the fact that no-one outside england knows it exists, and the sheer lack of respect which the larger clubs show it. out of the last three finals only ONE team from those finals went on to finish in the top 6 that year. Liverpool can win it because usually the bigger teams don't care.
But this is even worse. Oldham Athletic was fighting for League 1 survival when Liverpool lost to them. When Manchester United lost to Leeds United in 2010, Leeds carried that momentum to promotion to the Championship.
Loose means not tight as in "loosely tied around my neck". I believe you mean lose. And that's wrong anyway, because Liverpool have won a decent amount of games this year, rising up the table after a bad start and they won a trophy last year.
I remember getting up to watch this game ( ilive in NZ), I already thought guys like Robinson, coates were shit. This made me hate them even more. They dont look like they care that they are playing for Liverpool. Robinson is abysmal.
Sturridge was clearly fouled in the build up to Oldham's second goal and it was just glossed over. Had Liverpool fouled Oldham in the build up to their goal it would have been jumped on by the anti Liverpool press
"We're a big club who knows how to win,and that's why we'll get over this." no titles in 22 years.. one notable success in the period of time, Liverpool are surviving off of old prestige alone, the number of players who grew up when they were a genuine force in world football is RAPIDLY dwindling... and as that happens the number of foreign and national players who genuinely want to play for them will drop too. they need to regain success soon or it will just become harder.
@@daviddeegrollert706 yeah.. It actually did. I said they needed to regain some success soon or they'd struggle. And they were in the title race the next season... Thanks for pointing out that i was correct!
