Grew up in LA, McArthur Park back in the 70s. It was a beautiful place and time. It was a good time to be Chicano, Mexicano. As much as these images bring back pleasant memories , especially those firme rolas, cant help at wonder how many of the vatos in these images died young. RIP

I’m a Ex-gang member; from beginning 1980’s. I’m 59 yrs old. In Our varrio We were just most mens. As you all know guys hardly get to have a foto camara. So, hard to prove we were out there Congrats to those that have kept this memories. In 1981 I was told from one of the veterano, Mr. FOX. R.I.P pointed to this men, saying (look SILENCIO that men that you see down there, he was part of the case of the Sleepy Lagun) The Sleeping Lagun case from 1942 All Those Pachucos that got arrested Movie The Suit Zoot. It was REAL… Thank You!!!

Those picture makes us wish we could go back in those days now this world is getting worse and is sad how so much of that culture is not like how it use to be. I'm Puerto Rican and i enjoy this type of music 🎶 specially to sleep it takes me straight to califas and while I'm at sleep i feel part of la Raza

We as migrants were doing that in the late 50'S. Up North in Illinois, on the day's off,which was Sunday. We would take a record player outside listen to the Oldies now,but the song's were brand new. We smoked,but no beer,our parent'sand elders still govern the family. Off-Course now,i know the truth we are Native Indians. The greed and hate of the White Man,was prevalent and dominated at that time,of the 50'S and 60'S. Once you own your roots and let the Indian spirit take over your life will change forever. Mexican is a half breed of people named Mastizo. Half Spanish and Native Indian,but now through hundreds of year's we've become full blooded Indian again.

Not all Chicanos were cholos, or gangsters. I grew up in west Texas, the barrio I grew up was called Sobaco barrel the barrio next to us was Penjamo, and next one to it was Blueberry Hill. I miss those days.

I've been collecting music since the 50's/ I even recorded 2 albums back in the 70's with some tributes to the music I grew up with ( Check out Ruben and the Jets)- I have a vast collection of doo wop and oldies on 45's , albums, cassettes, CDs and digital but I have never heard of the song City of LA by the Los Walkers. Does anyone have any info. on this song and group? I'm dying to know more
