OLDTOWN Autopilot 120 (on the water review) DISAPPOINTED?..... 

Couple of things worth noting: 1. They designed the Kayak with customization/modification in mind. The thru hull wiring system is great, and really made things easy when running electronics. 2. The power plugs, at least in the early versions, need to be replaced.. They are flimsy and tend to have issues a LOT. I have been using a wilderness system cart and its pretty easy to move around, but I just got a trailer today that I will be modding for mine. As you mentioned, this sucker is heavy and I'm not getting any younger :D Good luck and tight lines!

Great Video! Top Hull speed for Old Town Kayaks is 5-6 mph. And you are correct for 1500 you can but a Bixby Motor on the back of it and be out the door for cheaper than the EDPL. Though will point out you do have to register it if its motorized, but the E PDL somehow bypasses this (for now). Definitely one of the most stable kayaks, I use mine in the Gulf and it can handle rough waters.

2 questions, 1- what's a typical battery size for the drive unit, and 2- just how big of a battery can you go to ?

I just purchased the AP 120 that you're in, very happy with it. with the weight of it when I'm loading it into the bed of my truck, I take out the trolling motor and also the battery box with my 100amp battery, it is so much lighter. Thx for the video.

Great video and input. I'm debating between the AP120 and Nucanoe Unlimited with an Xi3. The main cons I've come across on the AP120 is the weight, cup holders (no drainage) and the tracks. But the benefit is being prewired and set up like it is

Something to think about....a kayak not designed to be wired is such a PITA to wire! It isn't as cheap and easy or a fraction of the price. Cheaper...yeah maybe, but it isn't designed for it. AP120 comes hardwired for all connection points and is designed for adding Wiring.

Sweet kayak, probably look into getting this Autopilot 129 towards the end of the year and see if I can great a little better deal when the 2025 model comes out..

Bought a jon boat,trailer&motor which requires less maintenance and much more derible! Compared to my buddies layed out old town!!

This kayak is for big water that’s why it’s so heavy. I know people who have been fishing in the ocean of Florida with cheaper kayaks that are lighter and are tippier. He has also owned native, wilderness, and hobie and he has has to replace after 3 years. The kayak he has now is the old town sportsman big water 132 pdl. He has never turned over in the ocean, he has had for since they first came out with the sportsman series. He fishes in professional tournaments and will never change brands again he said. Knowing this like I do that’s big time with him, because he was always looking for the next great thing.
