I bought my OLED C3 42 inch after watching your “OLED Tv as a Monitor” video and let me just say, even now after owning the panel for a little over two months, it still never fails to blow me away. The deep blacks and beautiful contrasts you get from an OLED is truly unbeat. I’m never going back to traditional LCD.
@@makunouchiippo816 That’s why you don’t leave a still image on for hours at a time. OLEDs have history of hundreds of thousands of hours clocked with no burn in with just simple precautions. At this point they’re just as durable as your typical LCD.
@@makunouchiippo816 do you have any or use any OLED products currently? I've never been concerned too much with how far OLED has come. I'm using a OLED monitor, and have an OLED TV, yet no fears of anything burning in. It's not 2015 anymore.
I have both the LG version of this monitor and the 42 inch tv, and I absolutely love them! I first bought the tv and loved it so much that I went ahead and got the monitor as well. At this point there is no way I can ever go back to anything but OLED. Plan on getting a 65 or 75 inch tv for the living room around the holidays when they go on sale. Content just looks to good to ever go back to LCD. However, the text being blurry is a real bummer, and I hoping that the coming 4k OLED's fix this issue.
Don't mean to be rude but i think you really need to lower low frequency values in eq. It almost sounds like you're speaking through the pillow. Great video btw
Worth it when the text clarity and coating is fixed. Picked up the asus aqdm to try it. Coating stood out immediately, grainy/greesy look to everything. Text can be fixed a little with mactype but not fully. If these things matter to you, hold off until gen2.
Had been holding out praying for a 32 inch oled 4k, but decided to get a neo g7 instead. Overall better for now with the amount of office work and writing that I do to have clearer text, and still looks great in games. Big step up from the hdr400 1440p panel I was using before.
Holding on to my 32 inch QHD 144Hz monitor from LG. Yeah, its currently VA, but I don't think the up-side toward upgrading to Nano-IPS is kinda worth it, right now, considering the hassle I will need to sell my current monitor anyway. I am eye-ing OLED and hoping it goes down to around 500$ soon, and it will be worthwhile upgrade imo
I've been sat waiting for a 38" 3840x1600 OLED for two years. I literally have the money in my account. That's the only thing (or something very similar) that will get me to upgrade from my current LG38" ultrawide.
I need to upgrade to a 1440p monitor (upgraded from 1070 to 7900 XTX) and have been eyeing the current OLEDs with great interest. However, the price of the panels + being an early adopter is what's having me wait for some more OLED 1440p 240hz products.
I went ahead and picked up a OLED gaming monitor yesterday from LG. My monitor before was a 1080p 360hz IPS panel and I thought I couldn’t be missing out on much bc of how vibrant the IPS panel was but man was I wrong lmao. OLED is incredible especially for gaming and watching content.
I have an OLED tablet I stream my PC games to, I can compare the exact same screen. The OLED looks like HDR even when it's not. I would even say sdr looks better on the OLED than HDR looks on the Oddesey G7. With that being said, I can still see game HUDs showing up after I'm done gaming when the screen is grey, it shows up for several minutes (on the OLED). The tablet does not have any built in burn protection. Just be careful how you treat your OLED probably don't leave your desktop up 24 hrs a day
recently got the LG 27" OLED you mentioned at the end at a heavy discount of 740usd... absolute game changer compared to my 1080p display. Text fringing is awful, but after turning DLDSR on it looks just as good as any other display. Gaming is phenomenal and productivity/general desktop use has been super clean and honestly better because the size increase and better pixel density (though it's still sometimes awful, MS please fix cleartype :( ). Don't think I'll be regretting this guy, and I don't expect any burn in in the near future, really excited to keep using it.
@@circleofthytyrants I actually have none. My main problem with the monitor is the aforementioned text fringing and chromatic aberration, but that's a problem on Microsoft's end. Problem could be in settings, since I had to mess around with settings to get the best color profile and stuff, or maybe a defective monitor which would suck a lot
@@LazerB. it's an ai version of dsr, a resolution upscaler which makes my pc render in 4k then downscale to 1440p. It makes the edges softer and gives a better viewing experience (mostly)
@@kanezhang5813 Is this only for games or it has other use cases? Does it make a major difference? In a month's moreless I will get the LG oled monitor so I'm hopping It won't be disappointing in terms of visual/text clarity...
thank you for defending matte displays! every other tech reviewer says glossy or bust but unless your pc is in a basement with no windows matte will look better on the day to day.
I'm becoming more and more tempted to dive in. I bought a C1 a few years back for my living room, and I just can't imagine buying any other display tech today. I'm happy to see OLED finally coming to monitors - but honestly, more and more, I'm thinking of getting a C2 or C3 instead. Once they start coming down in price...
I cannot use an OLED monitor because I use my setup for gaming and work. I'm actually shopping for a 4K gaming monitor and IPS is the best choice for me.
Lack of brightness when working productivity tasks and the oled subpixel layout causing crappy looking text kind of suck on OLEDs sctually. I prefer mini led ips or even va for work, OLED all day for gaming. The upcoming LG 5k/2k 45 inch with the promised updated subpixel layout sounds tempting though. We'll see it in a few months.
ive personally used the 42c for around 6 months after i sold it again. Yeah the black is amazing and it looks better then other panels but it aint like OMG night and day difference. + burnout regardless of all the oled fans saying it barely happens is still a very big issue when you use your pc for over 4 hours at a time. and you end up having to do so much extra shit. hidding desktop icons , the taskbar , a moving background or black one. in my opinion its just not worth it for a gamers perspective or programming. watching series however big yes. ALSO important to notice if you have a matt finish on an oled panel it takes away alot of quality compared to a glossy oled screen.
I just picked up an LG 27" OLED Monitor.... maannn its hard to go back to IPS for gaming despite the last monitor I had was a pretty good 1440p 144hz monitor
there is an LG firmware upgrade for the C2/C3 regarding the ABL. It is supposed to lower those aggressive dimmings .... Not if it solved the issue tho.
I was between the Alienware 34 and LG 45, and might i say, the LG 45 is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely worth the money if your looking for ways to burn it. I get lost in the sauce in WoW.
I bought a LG 42" c2 last year and will never go back. It's drop dead gorgeous. On the opposite wall of my computer I have a barcolounger so after gaming me and the dog can kick back and watch Netflix/Prime video on it too. Wall mounted. 15 months in and still a believer.
I guess I will wait 2-3 years more for at least a 400nits OLED 4k 240hz 27inch/ glossy with pixel shift tech to save it from burn in I dont even mind spending 1k+ for that Its gonna be an expreience
Until windows has a setting to change subpixel layout, I'll continue to use IPS. I love OLED but doing anything other than media consumption/gaming is not fun. Also the dpi is too low for that size. :/
I've owned just about every size monitor, and settled on the LG C2 42". I even have it on a adjustable arm. I do wish it had a higher refresh rate, other than that, I love this thing.
32" is a weird size in the sense that its too big for 1440p but then people also say its too small for 4k. Personally, I think for a pc monitor 32" needs to be 4k. Id like to see a 27" 4k OLED, as 27" is basically the perfect size for most people's desk setup. OLED monitors are still too expensive for the majority of pc gamers..esp when you consider that the majority of them cost as much or more than a mid range gaming pc
I do use 32" monitors on my MacBook and Windows computers. I have the 32" M8 that is connected to my MacBook and the 32" Corsair Xeneon. What most people forget is to set the scaling properly. A 32" 4K screen is about 138 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) - the optimal PPI for human eyes is ~140 PPI. One thing to remember is the distance to the screen. I sit about 2.5 feet from my monitor and the Corsair is just magnificent. With that distance, the size of the monitor matters less because I can see the full screen (no neck wobble). 27/28" is ideal for 1440p but really 2K is pretty sweet too, again the setup matters most. I can still play at 1440p as I simply choose that option in the game. I have my Windows scaling set to 110% and work generally 12-14 hours a day behind my screens.
32" is more than fine for 1440p unless you feel like playing like 10cm away from the screen in which case of course you are going to see pixelation. Form a normal and healthy distance there are no issues at all.
To hell to anyone that says a 43 is too big, get a bigger desk. I have a AORUS FV43U and I love it. It's not OLED but it's still awesome, 4K 144hz and 43"
I have both the c2 42 for my Xbox series x and PlayStation 5 and I have the lg Verizon of this 27 inch for my pc and log them both I also have a 4 year old lg oled and still until this day I haven’t had burn in.
I recently bought the Samsung Odyssey g8 oled but returned it cause it had a vertical line over on the left side of the screen. I've heard bad thing about Samsung's QC but didn't think much of it until I had a faulty monitor. I think I'll maybe try the Alienware model and see how that goes
I was going to hold off for new 32" 4K 240Hz monitors next year, but I found a C2 42" OLED on FB Marketplace for $425 it only had 300hrs on the screen. Best move I've made for my PC. It's amazing.
@@davidobrien2841 Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about the C2 experience as is, so I probably won't even be concerned about those new monitors. Especially since my 4090 can't even push 4K 240fps through DP 1.2
Oled with hdr once played on you will never go back, simple as. Add in wide-screen to the mix and man. Alienware 34 inch widescreen 1440p oled 165hrtz user here.
I just bought two C3 55s and sit 11 feet back from them. I have used a CX 55 for 3 years now with no burn-in issues. He correct about the auto dimming on the LG OLED, but it is better than getting burn-in on the screen. I am in my 60s now, and due to eye strain from years of computing, I can no longer use monitors on my desk for a long time use. Even using my Samsung S21 Ultra for gaming one hour causes issues. Does anyone know a better solution? My main games are FS2020 (Honeycomb Flight Yoke and Bravo), and Racing with Fanatec gear.
Personally, I did a tradeoff with framerate for just 60 Hz so I can get 4K for work and gaming (or more than that with Dynamic Super Resolution if I want it for certain things)
I've already had 2 lg 27gr95qe's, I love it but my problem is that after a few months or even after a month the image cleaning function stops working properly. :(. Wondering if I should just get the Corsair instead
I really want an oled monitor but I work on my PC from 7AM to 3PM. I'm not sure if this would cause burn in. I still consume media after like games and movies.
Just have a blackish background and as long as your occasionally moving windows your fine. I’ll normally have my work laptop connected then switch to my MacBook (I also use dynamic display - basically wallpaper engine for Mac) for hours on end. No issues so far.
Why would I ever use anything that small for gaming. And I'm never sitting at a desk like some office ape? I use my LG g3 77 oled only because the 83" doesn't have the mla screen. Burn in isn't a thing unless you leave it on one image for thousands of hours constantly.
Whoever mixes the audio for this channel boosts the bass waaay too much. Might sound fine if you're using completely flat studio headphones, but as soon as you're used something which already has a warmer sound (like the very popular sony xm3 4 and 5) it just sounds very muffled and bad
yikes $849 and $866 is not $800, thats 900+ with tax, the same I paid for my dell IPS monitor 10+ years ago. I am buying OLED next and just need to see more competition because AsusROG #1 and 4080's cost the mortgage already.
I don't think OLED gaming monitors are good for most people because of how games have a lot of static elements such as HUDs and most people don't have the money to buy a monitor and then get a new one when burn-in happens. This being said, I have the Nintendo Switch OLED and it has no signs of burn-in. This is also because I switch between an LCD TV and handheld mode where as with a PC or more traditional game console, you won't be switching into handheld mode.
