My husband and I have been together since May 1991 and married since February 1993. I’ve been really ill since January 2019. I nearly died in May 2020. He’s looked after me. He’s been amazing but also very kind to me. I wouldn’t have made it without him. This is our song ♥️
This song was played heavily when I was 18 sat in the desert in Saudi Arabia in 1991. Waiting to go over the border into Iraq. That would come 24th Feb. 30 years ago this year. Reminds me of being carefree even though I was barely an adult and in my first war. I got there (home). This beautiful song reminds me of my colleagues who didn't.
I was in basic training in the Army at depot REME ........we didnt have the regimental band when we had our pass out parade in march 1991 , they were all in the Gulf in the first gulf war as stretcher bearers
reminds of my sister it was her song for my nephew when he was in the gulf war pleased to say he got home and finished 22 years sadly my sister passed 20 year ago respect to all so many boys went away and never came back plus also changed so many people my nephew came back but never the same person he was 20 when he went xxx
I'm new to this song. Today ( Wed May 15 2024) is the first time I'm listening to this song and i'm so in love with this song. I'm so glad im here because some songs you listen to it for the first time and know you'll make memories with it that'll last you a lifetime ❤
Oleta Adams, is what made Tears for Fears track Woman in Chains, so recognisable 40 years after it was released. Oleta's vocal range and control is sublime!
Nothing on the charts today comes even close to this standard quality and feeling in music. A very beautiful and touching song from Oleta from 1991. Always x.
@@meltewani ...co-produced... This song is a cover of the original one, sung and written by legendary 'Brenda Russel'. It's from her album with the same name 'Get Here' released in 1988!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hkrdXGLkQtg.html
This song always makes me think of my late father, who I dearly miss. We lost him March 2023. Every day I just wish I could talk to him one more time and tell him "Thank you" 😢 He was 86 and had a fantastic life and was an amazing father and life coach. ❤
This song is dedicated to my soulmate, the one definitely made for me. Whoever you are, i'm here, patiently waiting for you, so....please get here if you can.
My mum passed away 3yrs ago Shoulda played this at my mums funeral I once heard her sing it my mind was numb and it would of broke me down if I got got it played it I keep it between me and my beloved mother ❤❤❤❤

I'm here. A big fan ! Always. I've just sent the lyrics to my wife ... Wonderful song. Wonderful voice. Amazing video & lyrics. I'll always love you ... 4 ever & ever.
well done for putting in the effort mate.. Reminds me of a tour of Afghanistan ... Constantly played by the medics at Bastion when we brought in """9""" liners.
I was 20 when this song was released and am 50 now and its still one of my favourite ever songs. It will be my first dance song when I marry in June 2022 in Greece. Thank you Oleta!
Congratulations 🎉 hope all goes well on your special day .. same here I am 50 and still with my beautiful partner after all these years .. she is my rock xx
I WOULD ALWAYS HEAR THIS SONG BEING PLAYED AFTER MIDNIGHT IN FM STATIONS WHEN I WAS IN MY YOUNGER YEARS.... THE PIANO INTRO WOULD ALWAYS WAKE ME UP... PURE NOSTALGIA.
This lady wipes the floor with most other female singers. She is quite exceptional. Such a wonderful song, and such a mega performance by this beautiful woman.
I'd greatly appreciate if you would check out my piano & vocal cover version of GET HERE on my channel (real live acoustic with no autotune). Thanks and please pardon the promo.
@@willritter4076 I actually went and listened to your version. Your voice is good but you sang the lyrics too quickly and the piano wasn't soft and delicate like this version.
I have always loved this song. When I was a young boy in the early 90's, this song played on the radio quite often. Now that I'm in a position where the only person I love is in a different country to where I am, this song has gained so much meaning. With us in the midst of Covid-19 and not knowing what the future holds, I have never missed anyone like I do right now. For a guy that is usually very hard and generally has no emotion, listening to this song now is bringing tears to my eyes. I miss you so much baby. Hope I get to see you soon.
You can reach me by railway You can reach me by trailway You can reach me on an airplane You can reach me with your mind You can reach me by caravan Cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here Just get here if you can You can reach me by sailboat Climb a tree and swing rope to rope Take a sled and slide down the slope Into these arms of mine You can jump on a speedy colt Cross the border in a blaze of hope I don't care how you get here Just get here if you can There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, surely you would be closer I need you closer [x2] You can windsurf into my life Take me up on a carpet ride You can make it in a big balloon But you better make it soon You can reach me by caravan Cross the desert like an Arab man I don't care how you get here Just get here if you can I don't care, I don't care I need you right here right now I need you right here right now Right by my side yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Get here I don't care how you get here Just get here if you can
This song and the way Oleta sings it is a miracle. She is so so special. It never fails to bring me to tears of happiness. What a talent! And very beautiful! I wish I could have found someone with such depth of feeling in my life!
John, do not give up on searching this woman, maybe she is still waiting for you arround any corner, If you want to talk, when you want to talk, please, write me on my email. amoretzzon@yahoo.com.br. big hugs from Brazil.
I rem this being played on radio when gulf War happened my son was in Afghanistan and its the song that made me think of him and be strong helped me through every night worrying luv it but God love the other mothers worrying strong song !! Xx
Unquestionably one of the most perfect recordings ever made. Beautiful woman with a beautiful voice singing a beautiful song, arranged and produced beautifully.
When my dear sister diagnose of cancer... I always mind and sang of this just to ease our cast of fear on hospital now 4yrs shes died i always remember this song.. As we promise to see each other in other side of our life.. ❤️
I can't describe the emotions I'm feeling while listening to this amazing song right now !! I went back to my youth time in an instant !! It means so much !! And this is a song that will never be forgotten !!
I bought her record at that time and I never stop hearing it for decades. A total masterpiece., by a gifted and sincere singer and musician. Her voice is a miracle, so beautifully churchy, intense,...everything she sings becomes a sort of prayer.
I'd be honored if some fans of late 80s/early 90s ballads would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of GET HERE (If You Can) by Oleta Adams and HEAVEN HELP ME by Deon Estus & George Michael on my channel in tribute to the era. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.
How is it underrated? This version reached the top five in both the US and the UK, while the original version of Ms Brenda Russel only gained moderate success. Get Here became Adams' signature song. Many people thought this was the original version
When I was in the cardiac unit of a hospital 20 years ago, a nurse kindly gave me the vinyl LP of Oletta singing this song. As good today as then, and also a treat to hear her with Tears for Fears, "Woman in Chains" Terrific voice.
Vdd. Mine soul crying out loud, de happiness, n importa, se escuto um million de vzs over and over, no matter, quantas vzs eu escute, as lagrimas de joy n param..
90's hidden gem classic from oleta adams, love the words to this song so beautiful. what a voice too from this lady. i don't care how i get to my lady cause in the end i will, and no one is gonna stop me.
I guess everyone who searched for this song has an own memory to a nice or sad moment in life or remembering to a big love. Gideon i miss you sooo much 💔😔
Reminds me of a one night stand with a beautiful man summer 1991 the light was coming through the blinds he was making breakfast and put this amazing tune on! I was 20 he was 34 .... It was a one nighter as I was not ready to settle!! Now at 50 I look back with warm memories and no regrets as it was a life experience
This song was playing when I was flying from Mexico to Cote Ivoire (Africa) to see my german girlfriend. I think I was 30 by that time, now I am 53. I was sitting on the upper deck on Business class of a Jumbo 747-400 having a delicious South African cup of white wine. I was watching the sea of lights of Mexico City thru the window. We were supposed to meet and decide the rest of our lives together.... sadly it didt happened. Our relationship took different roads. The lirics of this song is so ad-hoc to the circumstances by that time. I can listen to it endlessly and feel that same moment in the air.... Just, Getting There !!
