My review/overview of the new Olight M2R Pro Warrior. In my opinion this is a huge upgrade to the previous M2R Warrior. It’s a fundamentally different light with significantly better performance for only $20 more than its predecessor. Out with the old and in with the new.

Very good review. I really liked how you showed how much better the stats are and should be with the new version due to the bigger more powerful battery. I like the beam pattern much better on the Warrior Pro. I couldn't tell on camera that you could see all the same things even with the more defined hot spot. I really like that light. I like your videos man, but I wish you didn't turn off comments on the s2r baton pro video because I have a question about a statement you made in it. I don't have a s2rii or pro, but the comment directly relates to my purchase decision. You stated that once you use the 1 minute turbo you cannot use it again until you recharge the battery. Is that true? On most of my other high lumen lights you can't use turbo again until it cools down below the thermal protection limit. I mean I know you get less lumens on turbo if you have a FET driver as the battery depletes, but I figured these olights have regulated driver. So can you only use turbo for the one minute essentially once on the s2r baton pro until you recharge to 4.2 volts? even if the light temperature is at room temp/below thermal protection limit? Thanks man! Thanks for the great videos. I really liked this comparison as I think I want the warrior too!
@GearedTowardGear1
@GearedTowardGear1 3 года назад
Hey man, thanks so much for watching. I must have misspoke. You’re absolutely correct, on this light (like most others) as long as the temp drops below the thermal limit you’re good to go for another burst of turbo. I semi-retired from RU-vid several months ago and turned off all comments, lol. I tirned them back on but missed a few videos. Comments are now turned back on for that video, thanks for the heads up. When you did the back yard light tests, did you have the M2R in Tactical Mode? Because if you didn't, the Turbo mode is only 1000 lumen. While Turbo is 1500 lumen in Tactical mode. You'll notice the M2R box says Turbo mode is 1500 or 1000, then steps down to 700. And that is because Tactical mode enables 1500 lumen Turbo mode. While I like the additional capacity of the 21700 battery, on the Pro, the 300 additional lumens are barely noticeable. I prefer a non-proprietary button/flat top 18650 battery, that I can purchase for $6, over a $27 proprietary 21700, any day. I do own the camo M2R Pro, but I won't buy another. I just got it back from a six month trip to China, for the firmware repair. After only getting to use it for 4 weeks, before the faulty firmware "bricked" it. I have 2 black, and one copper M2R, and they all can charge, and function, using flat, or button top 18650 batteries. I also own 3 of the Seeker 2 Pro's, and a Blue Seeker2. Even though the Seeker series uses the same proprietary battery as the M2R Pro, they can still function(but not charge) fine with the $15 button top 21700 batteries I own.Whereas the M2R Pro ONLY functions with the proprietary 21700 battery. I'll have to say, Olight going to lights that only FUNCTION using their proprietary batteries, is going to cost them some sales. Most users will give that issue a "pass", if they could still operate the light, and not be able to use the internal charging, using cheaper, non-proprietary batteries.

@@GearedTowardGear1 Agreed. I think olight is making a gamble that 21700 is the future and they are trying to usher that change in now. Yes, having more stored power is ideal in the flashlight world. But, I'm not going to invest in a new power source platform any time soon. I'm at around 20 flat tops and 16 button tops in the 18650 world. Very invested. Since the batteries work in my vape mod and I've only bought flashlights that take them, I may be in a relatively unique or uncommon scenario. And who knows what new battery tech will come along in the coming few years. It wasn't that long ago where AAA and AA were all you had unless you jumped to like a D cell Maglite. Will be interesting to see where this goes. I'm bummed I couldn't get that Pro Warrior. Great review video by the way. After canceling my Pro Warrior order, I turned around and ordered a C8+ and multiple C2+ flashlights. Those take 18650's and I'll be good to go for a long time as far as flashlights are concerned.
