Great videos Sir! I just bought the Klarus xt2cr for my dad for Christmas specifically because of your reviews. He LOVES it and I am super impressed. I’ve carried Streamlights and currently edc a Protac 1L-1aa. Great light but for just a little larger light I’m sold on the xt2cr now. Guess I’ll be spending some more money. The wife may not thank you but I will. Keep up the great work. I truly appreciate the detailed and HONEST reviews.

Jamie Nelson it makes us all so happy to hear that!!! You gave your dad an awesome light!!! To this day I carry my XT2CR at every moment of everyday. At night, my I remove the light from my person and set it beside my bed within arms reach. I'm not sure if you are interested in AAA sized lights, but based on you having used a Protac 1L-1aa, you may be interested in the Ultratac A5. The A5 is my XT2CR backup. It has a tail switch user interface and is advertised at outputting nearly 400 lumens. I believe I paid around $20.00 for mine. If you decide to try the A5 out, make sure you spend around $5 for an 26650 cell for maximum output. From all of us involved with Light It Up, thank you so much! Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours! My apologies to your wife!!!

Light It Up thanks so much for the reply and the recommendation! Ill certainly check out the Ultratac. At work (dress pants, shirt and tie) the Protac is a bit large so I carry a Lumintop Tool aaa. Not the brightest but love the tail clicky. Definitely have been looking to upgrade that to something brighter as well. I don't have any rechargable lights so hence my interest in the xt2cr. Really was torn between that and the m2r but your comparison helped me decide. Hope you had a great Christmas as well. Keep up the great work and feel free to throw any suggestions my way. Youve earned my trust lol.

Jamie Nelson I'm honored my friend. CHRISTmas was great!!! Personally, between the M2R and XT2CR, I found the XT2CR was a better fit for me. However, I'm sure that the M2R will make a lot of flashaholics very happy!

What I noticed is the hotspot on the M2R has more throw and is wider than the XT2CR but the Klarus has more spill outside of the hotspot.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
Elite Exposure in regards to the hotspot being wider, it certainly appears that way in real life to me. You may also be dead on about the throw. I may be completely mistaken, but in person, it seemed to me that the Olight had more spill as well? Overall, for me, the Olight May have a higher quality beam than the Klarus, but for myself the Klarus is still more fitting. Regardless, the differences between both beams is minuscule. Thank you for watching!
@eliteexposure5594
@eliteexposure5594 7 лет назад
Light It Up Yeah, Ive read up on how Klarus supposively lies about their ansi lumens. There was an article about the Klarus XT11GT claimed 2000 ansi lumens but reallistically only had 1500, so thats probably why the CTR2C is dimmer than the M2R.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
Elite Exposure Thank you for mentioning that too me! I had not heard of any of this before. However, it is my understanding that all light manufacturers ratings are off too some degree. 500 lumens off would be a big miscalculation by any standard. We will have to keep an eye on this. Again, thank you for the information!
@raboss123
@raboss123 7 лет назад
The Olight looked substantially brighter in juxtaposition to the Klarus. Is this just from the video or was it brighter in person as well? Thanks for the video.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
raboss123 to my eye, there is no question that the Olight is noticeably brighter than the Klarus. Thank you so much for watching!

Good comparison beam shot vid sir...picking up my new O Light MR2 this afternoon and after fully charging it I may go out and land some small planes with it tonite -LOL ...(also enjoy your videos ...keep up the good work)Any idea about how long the MR2 holds a charge with basic EDC use?
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
alex o'neal thank you for the encouragement Alex! Congratulations on picking up your M2R this afternoon! The run times on modern edc lights is tremendous. Runtimes will depend on which modes you use most and the duration that you use them. All in all though, you should be able to go quite a while without recharging if you are using your light as much as the many that edc these types of lights!
@stephenoshea1166
@stephenoshea1166 7 лет назад
Great comparison videos you do and well explained, thank you. I do like the idea of the m2r but i'm not into the interface. It's basically a side switch operation light but with added turbo at the rear. For edc use it's going to be easier to avoid the tail switch,( but I like tail switches.) I think they had it cracked with the m1x striker in my opinion. Liking the thought of the xt12s at the moment, it would be awesome if you could do a real quick beam comparison on them trees with the m2r Vs the xt12s.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
Stephen O'shea thank you for watching and commenting! I also feel that the M1X's interface is superior to the M2R. It seems to me that Olight tried stepping outside of their comfort zone which I have great respect for. At the same time, the light interface on the M1X, too me, is tradionally Olight. Well thought out and reliable. I am sure that you are aware that the XT2CR is the closer rival of the M2R. The XT12S steps outside of the fully tubular 18650 style body with a slightly wider head.
@stephenoshea1166
@stephenoshea1166 7 лет назад
Light It Up Yes, aware of the difference in form factor. I was surprised to see the xt2cr out performed in brightness (slightly but noticeably) by the olight. I love the form of those 25mm lights but also really like the 35mm bezel tactical style lights like the xt12s or olights older m20sx. Still pocketable but with throw. I bet the intensity of xt12s would compensate for any lumen loss when compared to m2r. Xt12s is prob one of the best throwers for size but in this category I also like the look of the fenix tk20r even though not quite so intense. (On paper anyway) many thanks.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
Stephen O'shea I believe you are absolutely right about the intensity of the XT12S compensating for any potential difference in output. There is no question to me that the XT12S is a superb product!
@agcb8969
@agcb8969 7 лет назад
Hi, great video. Thks. Perhaps the reason favouring the Olight is about how many luxes it has. Lux is related to intensity per unit area. Or in English system the foot-candle. How many candles have the Olight? And how many the Klarus? Best regards

Man I'm torn, I like the m2r but how does it rate to the cheaper streamlight protac 2L X?
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 6 лет назад
Big Brown Bear unfortunately I have zero experience with the Streamlight Protac 2L X. I have heard great things about Streamlight products! Personally, everytime I was interested in a Streamlight product I found a similiar sized light from another manufacturer that was rated with a fr higher output so I never pulled the trigger on the Streamlight? Thank you for watching!!!

Hey man great video! Which one do you think it’s more comfortable on the pocket? I carry a atactical A1s on my pocket and its fine, as long as I don’t wear skinny jeans or something tighter. Also, would those lumens be enough for self defense during daytime? I tried with the atactical and it definitely leaves a spot on the eyes.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 6 лет назад
kriptoniteXD thank you for the positive feedback! The Olight is smaller overall and although I believe that the difference in size is minor, people may find the Olight more comfortable. I carry the XT2CR everywhere/everyday. It does not bother me at all personally. I hope that this helps!

Hi. Which one will you recommend me if you have the Olight M2R or the new Nitecore EC23, or the on sale Nitecore TM03? Thanks. Nice video. I find difficult to choose.
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
Hello Engr. Melvin Jalon Montes. Thank you very much for watching the video! The only person that can be certain which light will be best for them is themselves. Having said this, I will try my best to assist you. For me, if price were a major concern, I would certainly give the new Nitecore EC23 a try. I have not personally had my hands on this Nitecore product, but I have owned several Nitecore products over the years and have never once had a reliability issue with any of them. If you are simply interested in having the most output you can from a single 18650 cell light, then, according to the specs, the Nitecore TM03 is the way to go. The big drawback for me with this light, is that it is cell specific. The new Nitecore EC23 may also be, but I am not certain at this time. The Olight was clearly designed to be a tactical operations style light. If this fits your use for a light then it may be worth considering for you. Personally, I believe that I will be checking out the Nitecore EC23 soon! I hope that this helps!

Have you noticed a instant step down on turbo mode with the XT2CR? I just got mine yesterday & about 60% of the time when I turn it on (in turbo) it will step down within 1-2seconds. I’ve only ran this light for a total of 2 minutes or so. So it shouldn’t be a heat issue. I’m still waiting on my M2R.

Light It Up no problem. Im a leo and currently use that holster with a surefire P2x Old model. So many great high lumen models nowadays other then the overpriced surefire. Is there a larger flashlight you recommend possibly the size of the pelican 8060 with at least 1000 lumens with a good bean and throw you can recommend? Preferably rechargeable. Thanks for your great videos and I look forward to your reply.

@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
foldes15 Foldes15, both of these lights are in cool white! Both of these lights are good on their own right. I prefer the Klarus but many people will disagree with me. Only you will be able to know which light is better for you. The beams on both are almost identical. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching!
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
foldes15 Foldes15, if you were asking about if cool white or neutral light is better that is also up too you. The neutral white will be easier on your eyes in the dark. The white light will ultimately produce more output. You really can't go wrong with either or. There have been many lights in the past that I have preferred in neutral light. For some reason I prefer the M2R in white light. That is just my preference though.

@04mach1speed 7 лет назад
Light It Up it's a very good comparison :D It definitely looks like on camera that the M2R has got more overall output even though it's supposed to be 100 less lumens. I've also noticed that your Klarus doesn't step down immediately after turning on, I don't understand why mine does. Even when the battery is fully charged it'll immediately drop from 1600 to 1450-1500 lumens within half a second. Maybe I should try a higher drain cell even though we both have the same battery :(
@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 7 лет назад
PhotonsAcrossTheAir Thank you my friend. I'm glad that you also noticed that. I would be surprised if the cell was the problem since it was the one provided by the manufacturer. However, it very well could be the problem. The Olight certainly appears to be brighter and have more flood than the Klarus. It is very close. Personally, I still prefer my Klarus to the Olight. The user interface for me is more direct and less confusing. The Olight overall really has impressed me though. I don't see how someone could go wrong with either or.......or both!!!
@04mach1speed
@04mach1speed 7 лет назад
Light It Up very true. You definitely can't go wrong. Especially the Klarus due to the fact that it's 75 bucks with a 3600mah cell included! I'll try a different battery like a Li-Mn just to see it anything changes. I'll let you know. Aside from that, I really appreciate your videos man, very helpful

@lightitup1128
@lightitup1128 5 лет назад
Personally, I carried the XT2CR for over a year. I absolutely love the beam pattern and user interface. Unfortunately, myself along with many others have had reliability issues with the XT2CR. I am not a big fan of the M2R's user interface but I believe that Olight has a stronger reputation regarding reliability. Also, the user interface truly comes down to personal preference. I don't feel completely confident recommending either of these for true edc purposes. However, many people would fight to defend the M2R's reputation. I apologise of this response did not help you! Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
