I smoke these with coffee and cream in the mornings before the wife and kids get up. They’re the best for morning because they’re smooth, non-harsh, creamy, mild, and yes, have a “toast & butter” flavor. No harshness, no pepper, not strong at all, so too simple/boring with an evening drink or after a ribeye!
Hi Delicia, interesting that I was parsing through some of your earlier reviews and I found this one which is basically my everyday cigar. I happen to like the Lonsdale a lot, and I think the shape gives it a bit more kick (I have the toro and robusto in my humi as comparison). I think this is a great smoke, comparable to the R&J Vintage. Thanks for all the content, and hope you're well!
Have watched and enjoyed your videos for some time now - not just because you are so pretty but you impress me as intelligent and you are very well spoken. So, I have a question - have you ever said anything bad about a cigar you are reviewing ? I have smoked a lot of 'whats out there' and there are only a few that I continue to purchase. Your palate must be far superior to mine. Not trying to put you on the spot so if you prefer to ignore I shall understand. By the way, in the 60's I could buy a box of 50 King Edward for a few bucks - just to let you know I am a geezer. Take care and God bless Jim
Nice review. I used to avoid Connecticuts, only enjoying the full-bodied cigars. Lately that's changed and there's nothing better than a flavorful Connecticut wrapper. The Oliva is a good go-to but really liking the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon the best. Used to find them decently priced but I think they've become popular because boxes are too steep these days. Oh well. Thanks for posting.
Do you have a favorite cigar ? One that is always in your humidor as your absolute favorite. Mine currently is the Oliva master blends 3 Churhill. I absolutely love this cigar and i keep 10-15 in my humidor at all times. It can last me up to 2 hours. And it is good and consistent right to the end. Totally obcessed. lol. I only began seriously smoking premiums in earnest since March this year. I have learned alot from youtube videos and especially yours. I am just beginning now to be able to identify different notes and i have my favorites now. However, Oliva is my favorite manufacturer as i have found that the entire line is awesome. I have tried the Connecticut reserve and the all their nubs except for Cameroon. All are a bit different but also great ! I want to thank you for all you do and all the great information you provide on your channel ! I can see that you work very hard at it. It is much appreciated. I am so enthralled by this hobby that i am actually considering having a channel as well to speak about my experiences. We will see. Take care Delicia and keep it coming. ! Thanks again ! :)
I find this to be one of the best Connecticuts out and one of my absolute go tos. Also love the foundation charter oak and Gisperts Connecticut in a corona size. If anyone who sees this post can you please recommend any other Connecticuts you think are Better than the oliva?
Nice review! I also love some Nicaraguan smoke! You do it so much better though :) My wife, a cigarette smoker, enjoys sitting on the patio while I try various cigars. Lately though I have found more of the Nicaraguan to be the winner for us both.
I've given the Connecticut reserve so many chances, but it has always let me down. I never get the buttery creaminess so many describe - only a bitter mild smoke. Out of 20 sticks or so I can remember one being enjoyable. I regret buying a box of Tubos to hand out for my daughter's birth.
If you are looking for something more creamy try a Hammer & Sickle Tradicion. These may be a bit dry in the longer lengths so look more towards the Robusto size.
I’ve on a Connecticut binge lately. As I’m typing this I just reached the final third, of the Oliva Connecticut Reserve and I regrettably have to agree with what you said. The first third had no personality whatsoever. I couldn’t discern a single flavor. During the second third, it’s just like you said, mild bitter smoke. I’m reaching the final third and finally I’m starting to get like a spiced Indian tea vibe. I will say that the cigar is burned perfectly at the ash has been very compact and white. Unless a miracle happens, I won’t be having this cigar again. In the same price range, I recommend a San Cristobal, Perdomo Champagne or a La Gulera. I know this sounds weird, but in the final third of the cigar, I’m getting red meat notes. Like a bland unseasoned steak
Yay! Sound level seems to have been corrected! Also, glad to know I'm not the only one who has a cigar and coffee before breakfast. Thank you Delicia for another great review!
I'd be convicted of heresy without due process in some quarters for saying it but I'm firmly of the belief now that Nicaragua produces the best tobacco/cigars in the world with Oliva being right up there among the leading manufacturers.
Don't know why people love this. I see all these 5 star reviews and was looking forward to it but It tasted way too perpery and dry to me at the start and was not expecting that for a mild cigar. Make sure you have a gallon of water nearby, or your mouth will very soon turn into the sahara desert. I'd give it a 2.78 out of 5 stars.
Delicia, while I tasted most of the same flavors you did in this mellow, lightweight smoke, I didn't sense ANY of the pepper that you did, red, white nor black. The one I just smoked was my second one, in the morning with espresso. Was it on the retrohale? I did buy them in single fresh-packs, already punched in the robusto size. Maybe they re-blended it after your review.
Have you ever done a review on the Don Pepin Garcia Serie JJ? This is the first cigar that I have smoked so far and I would love to here your thoughts on it.
Necessito di basilari cose per essere soddisfatto. Alcune molto importanti è essere proprietario di un prato con delle piante che producono in modo spontaneo frutti di olive
You're supposed to taste the smoke and blow it out again. Cigars are a lot heavier than cigars and will leave you with a nicotine rush just by taking it in trough your mouth and cheeks. Inhaling it feels very heavy and unpleasant. It's way to strong to be enjoyed by anyone if you inhale it. Therefore people just puff cigars.
