OLIVE OIL in COFFEE? - The Starbucks Oleato

So recently I came across a bunch of articles, videos, and general talk about this line of beverages from Starbucks called Oleato which is essentially Starbucks coffee infused with Partanna brand extra virgin olive oil. They claim its velvety smooth and deliciously lush. So, naturally, I wanted to try it for myself.

I think Macadamia Oil (Similar fatty acid profile to olive oil), Avocado Oil (Same) or even Coconut Oil (Way different fatty acid profile and nutrient profile) would work better because you wouldn't have that olive oil taste in the end.

When it first came out I thought I’d weird but once I drank my first cup . As of today 7/19/2024 I keep on buying 1-3 cups per day spending over $350-$450 a month in Starbuck and I cannot drink any other latte. I’m extremely addicted on Oleato Oat Hot Latte. I tried to make it at home but failed. The oil and Oatmilk just not able to become 1 taste. I feel two layer . I gave up and continue buying from Starbucks everyday . I need help 😅😅😅😅😅

Sounds like a vegan breve that’s a) easier to quickly hack together than keeping/engineering a higher fat alt milk on hand b) holds marketing benefits from the cultural cache olive oil (and piloting it in Italy) can lend. Maybe a better comparison would be a cow milk breve?

Not all Starbucks locations use Oatley oatmilk, some locations use Chobani or Dream oatmilk and one other brand that I can’t remember right now due to Oatley not being able to keep up with demand for Starbucks. Yes I’m interested in trying it, as an iced shaken espresso. 😍

@lawabidingcitizen5153 Hi ...I had to go back and find the string of emails to check the question. I see the additives that I was referring to were in the milks they could be using. I love the idea of plant based milk but I would ask to see the label and check ingredients. Some plant based milks have sweeteners, oils, thickeners and other additives. That's what I was referring to.

I wonder if you use a lighter roast, fruitier coffee that would pair better with the olive oil. Different olive oils have different flavors, just like other food. Good job pulling decent espresso on Starbucks beans!!

I don't know what to do, both machines look great, one has things that the other don't... I need excellent espresso to make different milk and coffe beverages at least 20 per day. This machines worth thousands of dollars and I don't have a lot of money to buy the two of them, but some advice is really going to help me. Thank you very much in advance.

The funny part about this new item is Oatly already has oil in the formula. That’s what provides the froth in the oat milk. I dislike Oatly as it is an unhealthy option and a misnomer in plant based milks. I make fresh oat milk with three ingredients: pink Himalayan salt, water and oats. That is what real oat milk is. This new drink is a fad to promote that particular brand of EVOO. Olive oil is a healthier oil vs the rapeseed oil in commercial brand oat milks.
@carolamendoladanca
@carolamendoladanca Год назад
I'm with you. The additives in Oatly outnumber the benefits of drinking plant milk. I was excited to try it but then read the label.

I hope this doesn't become "a thing" for several reasons. First, all this does is add more calories to the already overloaded coffee drinks at Starbucks. Remember, every tablespoon of olive oil adds 120 calories - all from fat. The fat in olive oil is unsaturated so it's labeled a "good" fat but the calories still need to be burned up. A couple of these coffees with the added syrup and even vodka in one of the coffees will really add up. Then there's the issue of the olive oil. Even if it leaves the production facility in Italy as perfect olive oil, it has to be stored, handled and kept fresh at Starbucks locations to maintain some of the nutritional value aside from adding fat. Last, and this one really "fries" me, Starbucks is touting this coffee/oil drink is what the Italians in Italy drink. This is absolutely not true. I've been in Italy from north to south and east to west and I've never seen this at a coffee bar or in any homes that I've visited including my family's home. Sorry this is so long but not all of us are excited about this latest wizardy of marketing of coffee.

@carolamendoladanca
@carolamendoladanca Год назад
@@EA7KVH Starbucks is trying to convince it's customers that others countries add oil to their coffee. It's pure marketing and I think it's not going to be well accepted. At least I hope not. I really take offense when companies try to profit with false claims like this. Thank you for your comment.
