It’s the young Solberg that’s more impressive being able to master an old beast ie the MK2 Escort with 3 pedals and a H-pattern gearbox in an age when even the likes of Daniel Ricciardo n Max Verstappen confessed that they can’t heel n toe

Never has there been a car that sounds any better to this day. I did 3 rallies as a co driver in 1985 in one of these, & the induction roar & engine noise inside the car is something else.

Such a nice gesture for your grandfather and family to remember together for a long time. 🙏4:33 Petter gets nervous when son Oliver torments his beloved FORD ESCORT, that he has started biting his nails. 😄When then Petter takes over the wheel of the Escort, he shows that the beats are still there. Very determined balanced driving by a legend. 😎👍

The sound is unforgettable - I competed myself in a Mk2 in the mid 80's - but never in a BDA - I spectated on many iconic stages for many years. The noise still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Who would have thought they would be still competitive in all guises 40 years on........

Fabulous! Great drivers, focussed mechanics and wonderful car. Every second a joy. Two wheel drive, 2 litre natural aspirated really shows the real driving skills. Rally does not need morrvthan this! Many thanks Dirtfish, Solbergs and Mills.

It breaks my heart to know Oliver's grandfather has Alzheimer's. My grandmother had that for the final 4 years of her life. It's a terrible disease & nothing can prepare you for the day when they don't remember who you are anymore.😢
