It's the most giggly and carefree I've ever seen Helena in an interview. It's such a nice side of her to see. I know every show or movie claim the cast love each other but I do think Coleman and her genuinely have a great friendship.
One of my favorite parts of this outstanding series was the relationship between Olivia Colman and Prime Minister Wilson. The acting between the two characters was incredible.
I LOVE how the camera drops ... and they kept it ! Didn't stop and retake .... totally surreal - and appropriate for the palpable jet lag- well done girls !
I love these two together. Such phenomenal actresses and they seem to be great women as well. Did anyone else get distracted by Helena’s breathing? I don’t even know why but I did.😂
Margaret might, might being the operative word had been a better queen. Obviously she’d have to not drink as much, but I think the monarchy might’ve modernized a lot faster under her stewardship. If I’m to believe what we see in this series then I would say she was most certainly a progressive. On the other hand however I don’t know how happy she would’ve been by comparison, the likelihood of her being allowed to marry Peter Townsend would’ve been more so reduced than it was when she was a princess. I don’t think The Earl of Snowdon would’ve been consort material he would’ve had to have given up a lot of his photographic work. But it would be curious to see that parallel universe if you will where she was queen, she wasn’t by any means a traditionalist but she had a pretty strong presents shall we say, and certainly plenty of charm and wit.
While I think Margaret has definitely more character than her older sister, but I disagree. A role that is so mundane and requires a high degree of commitment precisely needs someone who is willing to be molded in such a way, ready, without any other ideas. I think in one of the episodes the queen says she wishes she could just quit being a queen and starts raising horses and focus on that. Even when she had her own freedom to think whatever she wants to do had she not been a queen was still mundane and lacked character but that is okay because apparently holding a monarchy requires that kind of sacrifice. The sacrifice of individuality, hope and dreams. It is far easier when someone is already there.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the poor audio quality of this interview. As much as I like these 2 actresses, I stopped listening at 1:25. The microphone is enitrely on the person asking the questions and the actresses are inaudible !
