That scene where Olivia is describing how handsome she finds Sebastian and Viola smiles and blushes into the mirror... I fucking love that scene. That was so cute
honestly the actress that played Olivia was so good, she looked completely smitten with Amanda’s character. I can’t stop myself from shipping Olivia with Viola 😭
Yeah I liked her acting so much better than the others. Also, her easily accepting that the Sebastian she knows is actually Viola and not feeling betrayed, and so easily moving on to the real Sebastian didn't make sense to me at all.
For real. Every time I watch I was like "What if after Olivia dating the real Sebastian, she didn't have the same "sparks" as she feels to Viola as Sebastian?"
@@irayuliana5651 Right?! Like when you think about it, Olivia fell for Viola because she was sensitive, caring, funny and quirky...she would have hated Sebastian, who only dated Monique because she was "hot".
The best part is in both Twelfth Night AND She's The Man Olivia gets with/marries Sebastian having known him like 5 minutes, when she was actually gay for his sister (who she thought was a dude xD) At least STM adds more by having Olivia meet Viola as a woman before.
Because she thought of her as a friend. Also, she was worried about football, not being discovered, her emerging feelings for Duke, etc. Olivia just felt like her friends at home where she could relax.
@@kellincakubica277 No it doesnt. Olivia only liked Viola as sebastian because she thought she was a cute guy where in fact,Viola was only acting like a guy. So Olivia fell in love with a fake guy character but not with the real Viola who is a girl.
@@horrormovielover6725 that's not true lol viola used her "sebastian" character mostly around people like duke and other guys meanwhile she was acting the most herself when she was with olivia hence the lab scene where viola said olivia is one of the few people she feels most comfortable with at this school it's because she doesn't have to put up a facade and can mostly act like herself which in turn means olivia fell for viola not "sebastian".
Being sensitive and vulnerable makes you very attractive. As very well demonstrated in this movie. It also explains why almost every female has had a crush on a gay man before. Because he's often nice and sweet, and sensitive- and makes an effort to understand her without having an ulterior motive.
Sometimes I'll pretend I'm gay to make girls more comfortable with me... then once I've gained their trust and charmed them, I'll tell them I've always secretly wondered what sex with a girl feels like and ask them if I can experience it just once with them..
As a kid I found this scene so funny because hehe that funny she has a crush on her but she’s a girl. How silly. Now as an adult I’m like YO VIOLA AND OLIVIA SHOUL’VE BEEN GIRLFRIENDS
I was highkey shipping this.. like damn. They had so much chemistry. Duke and Viola made no sense. Sebastian(real) and Olivia had no chemistry. Seriously
@USCAN14 but in the movie Duke wasn’t even in love with Viola. Duke’s eyes were always on Olivia. Like the Duke-Viola ending was so rushed, it didn’t make sense
@USCAN14 she do like literally at the end the football scene that look violet gave said something she was considering her options I mean I would after meeting the real Sebastian I mean I know I would.
@@drippystaff5657 almost everyone in movies is straight so there’d be no point... And for most of movie history they did in fact purposely exclude having gay characters.
Rewatching this I feel so bad for Olivia because the real Sebastian sucked she only got with him because she couldn’t have viola/Sebastian. I don’t think either of their relationships lasted
@@raeesaahmad5524 sebastians lyrics was literally the only thing she liked about him 😭😭 everything else was viola - she treated olivia with kindness when most guys were shallow to her, viola understood her the way no other guy did bc of her perception as another female, she even specifically liked viola’s smile. whenever she complimented him it was less his appearance, more his demeanour as someone she could trust in this school since she got dumped recently and it hurt her confidence ;;
Yeah that's how I read Olivia getting with Sebastian at the end too, like she tries to date him to get to know the real him behind the poem but after a while realizes that she really did fall in love with Viola as Viola. To be fair, I don't necessarily think that Viola is gay though, cause she looks pretty uncomfortable when she thinks Olivia might kiss her. To me Viola's just a unintentional closet key for Olivia.
they’re sibling that acts alike, calling a person hot naively, flashing to prove a point, doesn’t like monic. i think either of their relationship will be okay
@@Ashley-km4qi ...umm..seeing her as boy triggered her body dysmorphia I think...I used to get bullied a lot in high school with people saying I look like a boy or trans...and to this day I try my best to look feminine enough so no one can sus me lol...that used to really trigger me...I think it might be that but I'm not sure.
Of course there not gonna let Olivia be gay since this is based on a Shakespeare play and Olivia wasn’t gay in the play. The movie would have been better if they hooked them up. I think Amanda would have been up for it.
I mean, that would miss the whole point of the comedy. Her thinking she's a guy and then falling in love with her brother because of that is part of the drama.
Well, trans guys (?) Just a guess. I’m trans myself, this movie was very big for me, I wasn’t out yet but I rewatched it like soooo many times when I was younger, made me realize I was (and still am) more masculine than I thought. I also understand the lesbian perspective also, as I identified as a lesbian myself, before coming out as trans.
As a trans guy myself, you would be surprised by how many people think your a guy if you just dress masculine. doesn't even matter if you have a very feminine voice. I was once stelth for months without changing my voice.
Despite Sebastian being a girl it really shows how the female gaze is because the main girl is attractive to Sebastian while duke is the more “attractive” and muscular which appeals to the male gaze
Part 2- Olivia and Viola figure out they aren’t into the guys, they are into each other. They let the guys down nicely, and get together. Happy ending, no one dies, cheats or anything toxic.
Yall pathetic asses always want people to be gay to fill the void in your heart about yourself being weird weirdoes who dont fit in to society nor ever will or ever be seen as valid
Hey man, don't spew that kind of crap in public . LGBT people are not weird, they're just people. And they don't "want people to be gay", they just happen to interpret this plot in a way that is different to you. It does make sense if you bother to look from a different angle. Chill TF out, be slow to judge and you may learn more from this lifetime than if you just stick to the paradigm you were assigned to when you were younger.
What a relationship where she thought she was into a man that likes to talk about his emotions but really is a female lying about her gender...... Yeah great relationship 🥴
@@drippystaff5657 I don't like how you referred to being a guy a "man" but degraded her by using the term "female" instead of woman. But what I actually meant is them loving each other despite gender and realizing they were meant for each other. Instead of getting with her bitch of a brother.😐
@@lolazola7068 well I mean they clearly wernt meant for each other though we're they..... As I said Viola is clearly straight, you can't just turn a character gay when they clearly aren't
@@drippystaff5657 So instead she ends up with a guy she had never met that was barely in the movie at all. And the other couple is a guy who thinks hes bonded with his guy friend who turns out to be a woman that betrayed his trust and was lying to him about everything the entire time. The only reasoning people have is that theyre straight relationships. None of the characters that ended up together make any sense.
Honestly wouldn't have minded if this was endgame. You can't tell me that in the original Twelfth Night Olivia and Duke were BOTH gay for Viola, and in both TN and STM Olivia barely knows the real Sebastian and the real chemistry was between her and Viola ;)
Duke couldn't get Olivia's attention in the past 3 years, then here comes Viola as Sebastian unintentionally making her fall crazy in love in less than 2 weeks she was there.
Olivia's actress did a perfect job showing how smitten she is with Viola. They had such a nice chemistry. I'm not gay but I loved reading the comments unanimously agree that Viola and Olivia would have been so cute together. 🥰
8:54 ok you guys see this look? I meant this scene Olivia know already that Viola is a girl but look at Olivia’s eyes the way she look at Viola is can’t get enough of it
olivia x viola should’ve been canon bc theres actual chemistry there and instead of going off of twelfth night, it could’ve been a development of viola beginning to question her sexual identity and maybe even her identity as a whole. a remake like this would make the century
She has no problem with her identity or sexuality thought… From the very begging she knows who she is and what she likes. So why? neither Olivia has. She fall in love cuz Viola understands her as a girl, but she’s into guys. Physically. Is that hard to understand? You can love a person of a same sex platonically and just not be attracted to them. It would be easier fir me to be attracted to people of my sex, cuz they do inderstand me better, but, I am not :D Same case for Olivia and most people.
I've watched this when I was a kid and had bits of butterflies in my stomach whenever they both appear and Olivia is just heads over heels for her....jokes on them I'm lesbian now
As a Southeast Asian, it kinda annoys me when Americans conflate Western masculinity as all masculinity. Not every culture in world prioritises brawny males with big arms who don’t talk much. We value a man’s independence and resourcefulness. It’s not suddenly “feminine” because the guy is pale, doesn’t look brawny or doesn’t have a deep voice.
I want to write a fanfic where’s like a year later and they’re both single for whatever reason and they revisit this. Maybe Olivia realizes she had feelings for Vi all along because she had a crush on her, not Sebastian. Being with the real Sebastian made her realize that. I have a whole story mapped out in my head
I feel like actresses in general also feel more comfortable making scenes with other actresses, which is why the chemistry that they try to convey really sells it. ALL the gayer. Also, the scene when Olivia praises Viola's features thinking it's Sebastian... Viola is totally caught. More gay points!
They totally should do a remake of this movie where Olivia and Viola ends up falling in love with each other Ps: fuck Sebastian, he doesn't even appear for like 1/3 of the movie
"I have this *huge* thing for his roommate, Sebastian, and I was just trying to make Sebastian jealous.- but I *really really like* Sebastian. He's so handsome, he's not the goonish handsome you see in a lot of guys, he's delicate, even refined handsome. And when he smiles I just can't. stop. looking at him. He's just so wonderful." She's talking about a woman, and not only that, she's talking about that woman with that same woman. Olivia is so gay, I love her, and I like to think that after the events of the movie that Olivia figured out that she has a crush on Viola, and that her and Viola get together and are happily together.
You're none of that shit you said, you're confused. Because you've been raised in a media environment that constantly attacks white people and the western civilization, they want to destroy the family values and white people's strength. If you were born a man then you should be a man
2:30 is a painfully accurate example of when a random guy comes to interrupt you while you’re vibing with a really cute girl and keeps interrupting trying to get your attention 🙄😤😭
@@finnathought8315 That's why I said it's an accurate example "bruh" , and it's relatable to me but it probably wouldn't be to you since I assume by your photo and name that you're a guy, and as such, I'll assume further that you probably have never been bothered in your life by an idiotic moron that keeps following you around, seemingly unable to understand that you're not interested. OR it could just be that you never vibe with really cute girls "LMFAO" Also since you don't seem to be aware you should know that just because you haven't experienced something doesn't mean others haven't. Just so you know for next time you find that something is not "relatable" :)
When im little.I ship duke and viola. But then seeing the girls start having more chemistry,i feel happy and start shipping them instead. When i saw the ending seeing duke together with viola,i remember being not satisfied with this.
I love this movie so freaking much!! If someone ever tries to "reboot" 'she's the man' I wish they'd spice it up a bit by making this cannon, cause it lowkey feels like Olivia only showed any interest on the real Sebastian in hopes that he could be anything like the Viola version of him... Or am I the only one who thinks so?!
