I like fanbases, 10 minutes into the accidental rabbit hole of a recommended video and I don't even know the name of the sitcom, but I know that Haley should have not ended up with Dylan.
I think that was intentional by the writers. The whole last season is basically about Hailee becoming Claire. There are countless references made by Claire throughout all the seasons about how she used to be like Hailee. Every time Claire complains to her dad about Hailee, Jay would always remind Claire that she was the same way to him as a teenager. We all become our parents in scary ways.
I like to imagine that several years in the future when her kids are older and she's no longer with Dylan, she reconnects with Andy and their timing is right this time or something like that
Coincidentally; when you commented this my (then) girlfriend, Hayley (same name different spelling) broke up with me. My name also begins with an A (but isn't Andy). Here excuse "Right Person, Wrong Time" I was the "right person, at the wrong time" she is now back with her ex so yeah.
@@AcesGym That happened to me 3 years ago. I was with this girl and we both new that we were right for each other. It was just the wrong time and now she’s married with some guy. It pisses me off to this day. I feel like I missed out on someone wonderful, and she gets to live that happy life.
@@PlusUltraAdrian Yeah, she is still one of my best friends but her saying that then not even a week later getting back with her ex it just felt like I was worthless.
My girl Haley deserved better than ending up with her high school bf who was literally just there as a joke in the series and who she never really loved and getting accidentally impregnated by him, smh
@@Mattdemon08 The sitcom doesn't only revolve around this girl. I believe this sitcom is more about family. I have been watching this sitcom for a long time so I probably have a bias about it. However, I can confidently say that this sitcom has affected in every positive way. Maybe give it the benefit of the doubt?
Well Dylan actually tried to change himself and she saw that he was boyfriend and father material. If they went on with this relationship they’d just be feeding into that cliche all sit coms have where the hot girl ends up with the nice nerdy type.
@@delirious3911 not to be overly romantic, but love can do that. You are happy (a semi permanent smile-still one of prettiest things you can wear), you care about your appearance, your mood is buoyant, the warm fuzzies are apparent.
@@IAMSUPREME22 actually they didn't make that decision. The actor wanted to get out of the series to start playing in another series (or movies, can't remember exactly)
@@PAWfessionalTennis Sarah Hyland (Haley) said that Adam DeVine (Andy) told her that he asked the writers for months if/when he could come back to the show but the writers just responded they "couldn't find the funny between Andy and Haley anymore."
the actor actually decided to leave, i do believe that they had every intention to have haley end up with andy since the beginning but he ruined their plans
@@keirac9987 about the actor i believe you can look for the articles in google but about the writers i think because of the careful way they set up the characters and their storyline. there are a lot of hints about how andy was like phil, and haley is like claire; therefore they were planting in the audience’s minds the idea that they were meant to be.
I NEVER NOT for one second liked Dylan in fact I hated him and couldn’t stand him at all but I fell for Andy completely the second he was on screen. Dylan is literally the STUPIDEST thing and he’s not good enough for Haley
@@nejoudtourki6000 He might not have been the sharpest tool in the shed but he was quite accomplished. He put himself through nursing school & was a devoted father. He also treated Haley well enough.
@@gbolahanbada5787 so it doesn’t matter they don’t have any kind of chemistry or any kind of good foundation (it’s literally built on teen drama) or any kind of compatibility or actually can have serious conversation because he’s too stupid to have one. The actress who plays Haley herself has stated that she’s still upset that Haley didn’t end up with Andy
Okay, she may have loved Dylan, but no way they can convince me she was INLOVE with him. And I get that she would choose him over Arvin because I don't see them working in the long run, but no way she would choose him over the relationship she had with Andy. I would honestly prefer her ending up alone and successful, than with twins and Dylan.
I would’ve preferred Haley being single at the end of the show with a successful career rather than being married off to Dylan with kids. She just turned into her mother, how boring, I would’ve been more surprised if Alex was the one married off at the end of the series.
Agree 100%. I know her having kids is meant to signify the beginning of the next generation of the family but it literally destroyed all of her character development.
@@tanaysinha775 yeah and that’s the point, she just repeated her mother’s life rather than carving one out for her own, either intentional or not they ruined the development she had over the years
I wish they they did the opposites for everyone. Haley having a successful job and meeting someone nice and the opposite of Dylan. Alex who was always very organized and OCD about everything in life, ended up being to one with kids and moving into cam and Mitchs old house. But keep it for Luke because we were all kind of surprised that he wanted to and got in.
I honestly feel like the showrunners were planning on having andy and Haley end up together, but something came in the way so the guy whos playing Andy had to step off. So they just had to force Haley and Dyland's relationship back. Sadly
Imo if she couldn’t end up with Andy they should have just had her stay single and focus on herself and her career. I wouldn’t have been mad at that. They probably thought that they had to have her end up with someone and that her having kids was meant to signify the next generation of the family but IMO it just ruined all of her character development. Such a shame.
That was not the only reason haley and andy had become boring according to thw writers and they werent able to find a way to lead them in a comedy show
If andy can do long distance relationship with beth why cant he do it with haley? i'm so stressful with that kind of set up i wish haley and andy did end up together
I have never seen this show but I have a tear and a huge smile by the end of these 36 minutes!! What beautiful acting by the couple and what chemistry!!
They actually helped eachother , they brought the best in eachother , it was so natural and ready to bloom , unlike Dylan and haley , they just settled that’s it
I kind of respect that they had her go with Dylan. The show is excellent at showing the struggles of modern relationships, and a common source of heartbreak in a lot of people these days is the one that got away. Real life is sad in that it does end like this sometimes; bad timing and mismanaged feelings can lead to people who should have been together not ending up together. It's sad but it's real. I wish they had picked anyone other than Dylan, that dude is utterly useless and Hailey clearly has matured and would have learnt from her experience with Andy, not gone right back to Dylan and then get knocked up.
Yeah, life is sad often, and this show is doing very good job showing lifes struggles. But this is also fiction, and we watch fiction to free ourselfs from the burden of everyday life, to see happy stuff. And happy stuff would have be if Andy and Haley end up together. Their romance can be fit into 35 minutes, but is written in a great way. I had a feeling, that all this effort creators of the show put into making Andy similar to the Phil, and Haley to Claire, was to strengthen the feeling that Andy and Haley are meant to be together. I think this was their primary plot for those characters. Not to mention that this romance was big part of Haley's character development. I know that Andys actor had to leave because of another show, but like somene else commented; they should have offer him a main role and a raise to keep him in. Modern Family was hella popular, award-winning, loved by milions show. I think Adam DeVine would be convinced to stay, and audience loved that couple. Or at least they shouldn't force Haley and Dylan. They should have make her character focus on career, develop her even more, mantain Haley-Andy distance relationship (getting him for few episodes during last seasons woudln't be that much of a problem, wouldn't it?) and make them end up together for good in last episodes. And this would have been really happy ending people watch fictions for.
No Dylan was always a joke and if the actor didn’t leave she would have ended with andy. Haley’s actress even said she would have wanted her character to end up with andy
That airport scene... good god right in the feelz. I'm not crying! You're crying! Some great acting right there, they both deserve credit for the emotional and genuine feelings delivered to the audience.
I dont understand why they spent so much time building up this relationship only to then throw it in the trash and break our hearts... I will never get over this. Also thanks so much for taking the time to make this. I can live out my handy fantasies here.
I feel like they ended up spending too much time on the build up and had to rush to get the storyline wrapped up when the actor told them he was leaving. Don't get me wrong the build up was perfect especially since up until season 7 which would be his last season Andy was only in maybe 5 episodes per season (even season 7 i think he appeared in at most 8-9 episodes.)
That description you gave could also be used for Ted and Tracy in HIMYM and it would perfectly make sense, I just don’t know what is up with these writers who wants to make a comedic series so damn real and sad in the end… I mean, we watch a COMEDY show to have fun, not to be frustrated, right?
My headcanon is that Haley realizes that no one makes her as happy as Andy did and goes to Utah to be with him. They resume their relationship, get married and have kids. Any other ending is unacceptable. In my head, these two end up together as it should've been.
If had Haley had matured and shown a lot of growth she would have moved on from Dylan and he would let her instead of being a boomerang that kept coming back in her life again and again and again. Just because he won’t move on from her doesn’t mean that should stop her. What were the creators thinking?
I wish There was a continuation of the scene Where we see hayley in the exit of the airport and them we se andy get back in there and kiss her and them happened this dialog: Haley: Andy!!?? What are you doing here? What about your plane? Andy: What plane? Haley: Did you forgot? Andy: Um? Hayley: You was going to a plane That was going to Utah. Andy: What plane? Hayley: Andy, I know what you doing, Stop! Don't stay for me. Andy: Please let me talk. Don't fell guilty as you said you would be if stay. Don't get me wrong I'm Staying for you but don't fell guilty about it. You said you would fell guilty if turn of my job of my dreams for you, but except for that, all my dreams are here. All of them are here, with you. I love you since we met, even when i was engaged, and even that don't stop us, Why do a job offer should. I change my mind When I was going there and I wanna stay, I love you and always will. Can I stay and still be your boyfriend? Hayley: Yes you can!!( she answers that with tears on her face and them hug him. After that they kiss and the scene end and the last scene is both of them entering in the car and going home tell hayley family he will stay and thsat scene with a god music soundtrack. After that they stayu togheter until the end of the serie. Problably live togheter, maybe married and have kids. I wish that was the end.
@@leonardofernandes8599 here me out! This is in a spin off where they start a flashback and what you said is exactly what happened and it turns out they were together the whole time without anyone knowing! But Haley and Andy are trying to hide it and she ends up pregnant with Andy’s child but tells everyone it’s Dylan’s!! Ik it’s a lil odd and crazy but…
Respectfully, if that was the case, the writers could have written Haley off and the two of them would have been happy together somewhere; the both of them would have stable careers and would come back for the occasional cameo/guest moments.
I haven't watched a whole lot of Modern Family and I had no idea about this storyline till this video. This is so cute and touching, at the point the video ended I just cannot believe that is how their story ends. It's heartbreaking. You spend 30 minutes watching these two dance around each other with us knowing how they truly feel and when it finally happens it's just ripped away in the blink of an eye. So sad. So so sad.
It truly was... and contrarily to a lot of people hailey is top 3 characters for me in the show. And I couldn't stand what they did to her character near the end of the show. The whole Andy Hailey arch had her develop so much. Then poof all the progress was thrown out the window.😐
Their relationship is the sit-com relationship that I have ever been head-over-heels for. And that's the last that we see of them?! I am so mad. Okay? There is maybe six minutes of them actually being in a relationship and I am so upset. Their chemistry was top-notch. They were one of the only reasons I wanted to continue watching Modern Family.
I stopped watching when i found out they don't end up 😭😭😭😭 i love haley and andy together 😭😭😭 after they became an item i continue watching the show just because of them but now that i know they don't end up I'm like 'that's it'😑
Glad Devine has had so much success after this show but I really wish they stayed together. They kind of took Haley's character back a few pegs after they break up. They were literally Phil and Claire too 😥
For those of you who are interested in why Andy was written off the show, it wasn't actually the writer's fault, it was the actor for Andy (Adam DeVine), who said he didn't want to do the show anymore because he was more interested in doing serious projects and didn't want to be a recurring character in the show (I can't find the original article I read but if you search it up you'll find other stories about it). This of course meant the writer's had to write him out, and I'm guessing they had bigger plans for Haley and Andy for the future considering how popular the show was at the time and how much all the fans loved their relationship, so they probably would've had to scrap those plans, so yeah, it was just a strange choice from the actor that really messed things up for this show
Writer wrote him off the show bcs they cant find anything funny in their relationship and hard to make them comic being together and they were right as soon as they get tigether they got boring and flat ,this was actually a boring couole from comedy perspective
@@knowitall1005 sad reality in comedy shows…. But if this was real I really think hailey would end up with andy…. Andy is someone any girl would want in an adult and committed relationship
Sad to learn they didn't end up together. It seems to be a running theme with long-running sitcoms that in the end the characters get badly written endings that with simple changes could have been amazing
The actor playing Andy left the show in order to be able to do other shows. Soy the writers didn't really have a choice. The only thing they could have done differently is leaving Hailey single maybe
She has met Dylan from the start and was with him together kinda dumb but with Andy she seems to have so much more fun and it feels so much more like he's the one. She tries to improve herself with him and is getting kinda more clever, sweet and seems happier I loved this couple. I think they should have been endgame
"I'm not trying to be mean. It's just, you ever think you might be settling for something here? We've all done it. Talked ourselves into the penguin because we didn't think we had a shot at the elephant. If I'm your elephant, you have a shot. That's what I'm trying to say, dummy."
When me and my girlfriend watched the show for the first time we always got excited when those two were in the same room together.. WHY modern family WHYYYY
I always see Hayley's story as a cautionary tale. She didn't apply herself in her school days, completely ruined her chance at college and was never able to stick to a career. Even when she was finally ready to be serious and grounded things didn't work out and her past mistakes kept coming at her. Cause life doesn't work that way, you can't just be sorry for everything you did to be undone. Therefore her ending. It's not a tragic ending at all but rather average and unspectacular exactly what her many irresponsible choices lead to.
It’s not that deep. They were forced to revert back everything since Andy’s actor had to be written off due to conflicting schedules. They definitely planned to have her end up with Andy
I've never watched Modern Family and yet I've watched this all the way through in the last couple of days. Twice. These two are great. I'd happily watch an entire show just devoted to these two falling in love while also "tormenting" each other. Also, when she makes fun of his fingers and he pulls away when she laughs it doesn't feel like she's laughing at him. She's already laughing with him. There isn't a hint of meanness in her laugh. Great foreshadowing.
Just binge watched the show from beginning to end. Kept expecting this relationship to be where Haley ends up. I always had the feeling that her character was supposed to be like Claire and Andy was Haley's version of Phil. Dylan seemed like the character Haley needed to mature past, not end up with.
Lol I feel ya. I don't care what the final season says, Dylan should not have been her end goal, the show will pretend Haley and Dylan were end game and some people fall for it. I don't entirely hate Dylan, but like you said, he's someone Haley should have matured past not ended up with.
The thing that bothered me the most was that out of all the boyfriends, she had the least chemistry with Dylan, I’ve always found their scenes to be the most boring(I don’t find dylan particularly funny). I don’t understand why the writers would do that. Their marriage can’t work cause he’s literally a man child incapable of taking care if himself. LITERALLY ANYONE would’ve been better than Dylan
I've never watched this show, but sat here for 30+ minutes, got sooo invested in their relationship and now am extremely pissed they never ended back up together
As much as I hate seeing Andy leave, I’m glad their relationship ended this way and not through a large fight where they didn’t want to see each other again. They’re so sweet together and I wish she ended up with him
I absolutely love how in this show Adam Devine plays a wholesome, respectful mormon boy but then in Workaholics he plays an insane douchebag college frat weirdo.
I was rooting for Andy and Hayley’s relationship. The growth that Hayley’s character has displayed. She definitely deserved someone much better than Dylan. Also, they killed off their relationship poorly too.
Damn I’ve never watched this show but these two seemed so well together, from what the comments said, I assume they don’t stick together and I’m pissed off about it. It was good while it lasted
I’d like to think that in the future, Haley and Dylan get divorced and she reconnects with Andy and he helps her take care of her twins and they get married 🙂
