There is only one singer who I fell in love with her voice the very first time I heard it on the radio at age seven. She was my favorite singer/vocalist right then in there, and it's been about fifty years now. I've never been so decisively right in my life, but I know music, I know vocalists, and I know hit music and future superstar singers. I just didn't know I would also develope a life-long crush on the most beautiful woman in the world, too. No one will ever compare to Olivia. A true gift to the world.
You were a prescient youth with good ear. I just assumed there'd be more like her as I got older, but that never happened. I adored her for 50 years now, more than any woman since, besides my Mother. I presume now I'll remain a bachelor - nothing compares to dearest Olivia.💔
@@NickNicometi My number two favorite singer who I also knew at a very young age, who is also a member of my favorite band of all time, ABBA, and who is also, to me, the second most beautiful women in the world, how could she not, is Agnetha Faltskog. She and Olivia have/had two of the most amazing, natural, and pure, unauto-tuned voices, who went on to sell millions and millions of albums, and were/are both stunningly beautiful women. And as hard as it is to be that beautiful ( men and women loved both of these two ), and is/was those amazing voices and songs that few can compare to.
I never really listened to this song before, but it is absolutely beautiful. For as long as I like others have loved this woman, I like that I’m discovering all these hidden gems. ❤
The most gorgeous singer I have ever known . She took my breath away as a young boy. I followed her career since 1973. I finally had the pleasure of meeting her in Las Vegas after her show on 1st Aug 2014. It was my birthday weekend . I cherish my photo with her and autograph . I miss her , but I promise to keep her memory alive. Thank you for the vintage videos . Olivia is gorgeous in every way. ❤
When I was a teenaged boy I turned on my TV and this was my first view of Olivia. I fell in love instantaneously. She was my *first* crush. I’m now almost 65. I have adored this woman for fifty years. And now I sob while she teaches the angels how to sing.
I am 41 years old and, my dear Olivia, you have been my inspiration and accompanied me in the good and the bad moments, in happy and sad ones, since I was 14 years old. I can't imagine a world where there is no you, but you will forever live in my heart and in my thoughts. I know that someday we will share the same time and space once again. In the meantime, rest in peace, wherever you are. The world is a better place because of hearts like yours - because of people like you! And the echo of your unique and phenomenal voice will always LIVe on... You are love and light! I will always love you, Olivia. 💙💜💚❤🤍💗
I've never realised Olivia Newton-John, sang this *beautiful poem*,,, I've had Kiki Dee sing it on thee old K-Tel, record label, from the early 70s,,, but ONJ, version is just as good, which, I never thought I'd say Both singers sing with so much feeling,, Excellent ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️🤔🤔😍🤗🤗🤗
If I hadn't seen her and heard her voice, but just had heard or read an accurate description of Olivia, I sincerely would have assume that description was an exaggeration. No one can be that beautiful and also have such a beautiful voice... And there she was... Olivia... like an angel who lived among us.
Listening to her voice now transports me back in time to 1972 when I first heard heard her sing, my first thought was what a magical voice and stunningly beautiful lady. 50 years later and I still love to hear her voice. RIP Olivia.
Fantastic, awesome live performance. Olivia's voice is awesome and great in this live performance. I've never seen this before and I didn't know Amoureuse was the name of this song that I have been listening to for many years. RIP Olivia. Love you and miss you.
The best version remains the original version of the French singer Véronique Sanson who also wrote and composed this song in 1971, her vibrato remains unique and inimitable and neither Kiki Dee, neither Olivia Newton John exude the sensuality that Véronique Sanson exudes during her performance. No doubt because this She really saw the song that she performed after having written it after a night of love when she was 20 years old.The lyrics of the song are beautiful but the song made a mini scandal at the time because the majority was set at 21 but it allowed her to triumph, French men fell in love with her at the time by listening to the tone of her voice in this song, But not that since the American singer Stephen Stills passing through in Paris fell in love listening to the song performed by Véronique Sanson and asked to meet her and eventually married her.
This is such a strange clip, since Olivia never released "Amoureuse" in the States. The label didn't even include it on the compilation "If You Love Me, Let Me Know," since it was competing with Kiki Dee's version. "Amoureuse" could have been one of Olivia's early "signature" songs - right up there with "I Honestly Love You" and "Have You Never Been Mellow?" It's a beautiful song, and her vocals are sublime.
My siblings and I were able to see her in concert after the If You Love Me Let Me Know album came out, only because she suddenly filled in for Jim Croce after he died in that sad plane crash. She came to a city near our town, and I was only about 12 or 13 years old. She was the dream concert for me, because I am a soprano and as a kid, wanted to be her, I loved her voice and looks so much. 🙂 She sounded just as good in person as on vinyl and cassette. Fantastic.
This beautiful song has two equally beautiful versions by ONJ and Kiki Dee, but in a strange twist Helen Reddy sings a similarly lovely version with entirely different lyrics (called Emotion)! Those 70s girls all had class.
I had no clue there's an english version of Amoureuse (original by Véronique Samson) and the fact it's the lovely Olivia who sings it... I still prefer the original but this is so beautiful.
She sings with the same ElectroVoice microphone as Elvis. I have an EV N/D 767A which is the modern equivalent. It's so good I use it for studio recordings. Support the company by investing in one. (NOTE: They are not as durable as the SM 58, and must be left to dry out after 30 minutes of singing.
Olivia makes a poorly-written song beautiful. I could have written a better song for her. I'll write better melodies to these lyrics for her to sing in heaven.
@@vastolive8 I have to respectfully disagree Mr ONJ fanatic. Olivia sang many great songs but the arrangement of this cover is abysmal. It is the arrangement that lets it down and not Olivias voice which is superb. The arrangement of the Kiki Dee version is haunting and far superior.
I didn’t know Olivia had recorded this. I have to say that it pails in comparison with the Kiki Dee version. This arrangement is just awful and does Olivia a great disservice. She is a fine singer but this is not one of her best moments.
Wow !What a treat for all of Livvy's fans.It has not been seen in over maybe 30 years. It was the beginning of a beautiful career. We all knew that a star was being born upon us in the music industry. This song i adore. It is very haunting about love. She was born to sing love songs. What a tyreat for all of us.a new video .
Wow, she just sang and didn't have to expose any of her private body parts to complete a wonderful performance. So different compared to today's performances that focuses more on showing reproductive organs.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I've been hoping this video would surface! Merv said on the 1981 show that she appeared earlier in the 70s and always wanted to see it. Also, odd that she performed this song when it really wasn't released in the states.
