She has the voice of a angel..and lucky for her she looks like ..and following her for decades she is a humble and genuine person ! Luv that lady seen her In 1981 live in Montreal my dad took me me ,luv him for that !
She began as a teenager in the 60's on an Australian tv show and just grew from there. In 1971 she had a hit that went global and just pumped out song after song to ad to her list. They picked her to do the movie version of the musical Grease which was on Broadway originally. When she became the lead in the film version, they added an extra song for her and Travolta that was not in the stage version which was, You're the One That I Want. Them adding that song for the film got them nominated for awards. They had also wanted different actresses for the role, but it worked out for her. No one can even think about anyone BUT her to play the role of Sandy
You have those rare singers like Olivia; Smoky Robinson; Robin Gibb … who look like they are exerting NO EFFORT when they sing. It’s like they just opened their mouths and otherworldly, powerful, angelic notes just fell out.
So many great songs...Go down this rabbit hole you won't be disappointed. Twist Of Fate, Magic, Take A Chance, A Little More Love, Xanadu, Fly Away- John Denver & Olivia Newton John.
Olivia is my all-time favorite performer! I have her music on vinyl, cassette, CDs and have been blessed to meet her in person twice. She is honestly one of the most genuinely, kindest people in show business. She has been on a rough journey, battling cancer three times, but she is a fighter..or as she calls it..a thriver. You could pick any song in her vast catalog of music to react to and you would probably enjoy them all. I would recommend A Little More Love, Totally Hot, Soul Kiss, Toughen Up and Twist of Fate. She has a relatively new ep released in 2014, Hotel Sessions. She was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, in 2020. You can't go wrong with ONJ!
When I was 8 I found Grease and I watched that movie every weekend over and over and over again. My mom couldn't believe how I could watch it and then rewind it to just watch it again. Still till this day I watch it when ever it comes on. I loved her... this song was everything to me lol.
When you can and if you haven't yet watch the movie GREASE. She is in it and sings throughout. Others sing also but she is outstanding. It is worth the watch!
Olivia is a legit superstar from the 70's and 80s. As other people have said, she sang this song when she played Sandy in the movie "Grease." It was a huge radio hit. "You're the One that I Want, " her duet with John Travolta, was also a hit from the movie. Please try "Xanadu," the theme song to the movie of the same name in which she starred. And "Physical," "Magic," and many more that others here have named. Olivia is a fantastic vocalist. Cheers!
This was one of the hit songs from the movie "Grease" in 1978. Another popular song from that movie is her duet with John Travolta "You're the One That I Want" & "Summer Nights". Olivia has had so many great songs such as "I Honestly Love You", "Physical", "If Not for You", "Let Me Be There", "If You Love Me (Let Me Know)", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Xanadu" etc.
Mel says "Every word she sang is so beautiful". Mel KNOWS how much work and attention to detail it takes to sing so consistent and so gorgeous up and down your range.
@Shawn and Mel , back in 1978 when i was just an 11 year old boy Olivia Newton John was my first ever celebrity crush when i queued for an hour to get into the cinema to see her star alongside John Travolta in the musical Grease . To this day she's still my no.1 female vocalist of all time . Alison Moyet comes in a close 2nd lol . 🎶🎶🎶🤣🤣😍
She most certainly was a hit on GREASE, her singing always superb. She suffered through cancer many times, but always managed to pull through. Just love Olivia. xx
This is a FIRE performance! It was on the charts forever. So glad to hear that a new generation can appreciate the massive talent that she was, no auto-tune just natural talent! I had the great pleasure of meeting her at a cocktail party 11 years ago. So lovely, so beautiful and so down to earth! RIP to this angel among us, for way too brief a time!!! She sold 100 MILLION albums!!!
RIP Livvy! You fought a good fight for so long and with such strength and grace. Another golden voice is silenced. Fly high with your new wings - fly, fly, fly!
Olivia was a Member of the most beautiful girls of the 70s singers! Olivia had a LOT of great songs in the 70s. I called her America's Sweetheart From down Under. But Al'so was the Wilson Sisters, The gals of ABBA, Donna Summer, Stevie nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Strisand, Pat Benetar, and MANY More! ALL In their Prime!
Guys when she came on the scene she won award after award after award. She is an all-time great. Recommended songs physical, suddenly, and magic. Great job guys.
I love how everyone has the same reaction when the chorus hits and Olivia just soars through the key change with no problem! Goosebumps everytime! RIP Olivia Newton John
She was from Australia but lived in California for years. She passed away from cancer on Aug. 8, 2020 at age 73. Beautiful voice. Close friend of Bee Gees.
She was an angel on Earth, and when she died, the world stood still. Everyone in the entertainment industry and even heads of state and world leaders paused to show her love and respect. Her memorial service was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, like Olivia herself!
Listen to her whole book. She has recorded a thousand songs! A once-in-a-lifetime voice! Rest in peace. I love this woman and I miss her! I had the great pleasure of meeting her and she was so humble and lovely. She radiated light and love.
hello from greece i am 55 and i am still in love with princess olivia you can laugh all you want but this woman was a champion as a person also exept that she was a princess in singing my love from greece
"Hopelessly Devoted to You" is a song recorded by English-born Australian singer Olivia Newton-John for Grease: The Original Soundtrack from the Motion Picture (1978). It was written and produced by John Farrar and originally performed by Newton-John in the film version of the musical Grease (1978).
Awww Grease I remember when it first came out the lines to watch it lol I must have seen it 20 times in the theater. Such an experience it was awesome John Travolta so handsome up there reminding me of Elvis lol finding out he took his inspiration from him. Man it was an awesome time to be a teenager.
Grease! I think you guys already reacted to "You're the One That I Want". Dame Olivia Newton John is a legend and icon. She was knighted by the Queen in January 2020. She was the biggest selling female recording artist of the 1970's and second biggest selling female recording artist of the 1980's. Please more of her music. For some reason, reactors are largely ignoring her music. Please be the exception and do more of her music. She has soooo many fans! Thank you for the great reaction!💗👏
She did this song in one of my favorite movies of all time "Grease". Y'all should watch this fun movie, lots of good music. Oh and she's from Australia so Mel you have a good ear.
Great reaction guys. Love that the Goddess that is ONJ brought a smile to your faces , she was one of the most beautiful women on the planet with the voice of an Angel. Please react to A little more Love
I was nine years old when this movie came out and I remembered my mother took me to the drive-in in Miami because we’re from Miami and certain parts of the movie she would cover my eyes but we watched it and I freaking loved it! Such an iconic movie, and every damn song in this movie is iconic, but for me, this is my favorite
