Beautiful touching performance. John is a living legend in Aus. The most enduring and popular entertainer this country has ever had. He's been around since the 60's and had number one hits in every decade from then right up to 2016. He is currently recovering from surgery to remove a cancer from his jaw. So we will probably never hear sing live again. But luckily there are literally 100's of videos available of him on You Tube. He and Olivia have been freinds forever and have had a close relationship for years. Although he is 100% a one woman man who completely loves his wife of 49 years Jilly. You should hear him singing this solo and you will realise that he does not need anyone to elevate his voice. His range is unbelievable and he always sings with such passion. This concert was actually John's way of helping Olivia get back on track after her 2nd bout of cancer. She has said....that at that time she thought her career was over and would never perform again ....and then John asked her to do this tour with him and Anthony Warlow who was also recovering from cancer at the time. This tour gave her the confidence to get back up there. She and John toured and recorded together a couple of times together after that. And yes this song was recorded on The Main Event Concert album, CD and DVD ....enjoy If you want to hear the passion with which he sings, listen to him sing Help live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra or When the War is over in 2003 and you'll see just where his voice can go. Not to mention his most famous song You're the Voice also best watched with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra...He is best watched and listened to Live His range A2 to G5. Olivia was the undisputed Queen of duets. She LOVED to duet, and yes, she always brought out the best in her duet partners, even with The Voice, John Farnham. You'd be hard pressed to find another duet out there that can top this one, it is just breathtaking. Such a shame that they never recorded it together in a studio, but thankfully this live version was recorded so we can all marvel at its brilliance!

2 great Australian performers. We'll have to agree to disagree about Johns voice. I don't know what clips you have watched of him but John has a great voice regardless of who he sings with or if he is singing solo. This is one of Johns songs, you should check out the original as he sounds even better. But regarding this video, you could see their friendship shining through, an absolute stunning performance. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

John and Olivia first met back in the late 60's, during their pop careers; and have been the best of friends, ever since. This song hits hard for me, I love a dear friend; l first met her in the early 80's, but it was never to be. The song resonates my feeling, so accurately; I'm not free, and she would never cross that line. From the start, l just knew we were soulmates; I've never felt so easy around anyone else. Glad you enjoyed the performance; and John actually asked his wife, if he could kiss Olivia for that number.

John can sing many genres beautifully, see him younger singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. You will see what I mean.

John is 73/74 now and is recovering from cancer surgery on his jaw. Everyone I know is wishing him a speedy recovery. You need to go deeper into John's career ie His concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and anything else you can find. I recommend you only review his Live performances as the official releases can lack atmosphere, although, they're still very good. For starters: When the War is over (the last time) is a good place to begin reviewing and if you want to hear him really display his vocal range "Gesthemene" from JC Superstar.

If you are able to get a copy, the song is from The Main Event Concert; it also has Australia's 'Phantom' Anthony Warlow, who is from musical theatre. There is a cd, and l believe a dvd; not sure if they are avaible internationally.

His career started in the 60's, you have a lot to catch up on. Listen to his back-up singer Vanette Fields, John and Lindsay field doing Amazing Grace. Find some more of the main event concert. This guy does opera with a trained opera singer, by the name of Anthony Warlow, try Grenada. His official channel is Fully Farnham. Have you heard him with Jimmy Barnes, doing Soul? The song is When Something is Wrong With My Baby. There is a copy out there, please find the real artists. On Hey, Hey, it's Saturday, aussie tv show, is the best version. Barnsey and Farnsey are great mates, and sing so well together.

John Farnham doesn't have to keep up with anyone's singing they have to keep up to him. So sad that Olivia has passed away and that John has had major surgery on his mouth and probably will not sing again, two Aussie legends and from what I hear two great people.

John Farnham is an incredible singer, if you have any song of his to give you a true understanding of his voice it's either his cover of "help" by the Beatles or "you're the voice" the biggest hit single by an Australian artist in Australia My personal favourites of Olivia Newton John are "please Mr please" and "Sam" which both show her voice at it's most beautiful. And I'll throw in Karen Carpenter's most beautiful vocal being "one more time" moves me to tears every time. A captivating performance of a Graeham Goble (not Graeme Gobble as titled in the video credit) classic written more than forty years ago. Graeham was a founding member of the Little River Band and a writer/performer of immense talent. You won't find a bad live performance by Farnsey in over fifty years of performing. Although he and Olivia were lifelong friends, he didn't need anybody's help to sing brilliantly.

John always rises to the occasion and he would have put everything he needed to in this song, its hard to explain what its like to be Australian but we tend to wear our hearts on our sleeve so Both Ilivia and John would have sung this as if it were real
