it did fit the theme though. it was inspired by a debutante ball where a bunch of dead butterflies (supposed to be alive but were put too close to a heat lamp) were released on to the debutantes. also a shakespeare quote

Fun fact: The first silent movies were actually during the gilded age in the 1880s and 1890s. But yes they became way more popular in the 1920s

At 1:26 mark, Olivia mentions having minor baby synesthesia, which explains a lot about the constantly changing purple, red, orange, and blue colors that really inform the audience of the different hues that Olivia actually sees with each song. I was at the May 4th show in Washington D.C., and it is dazzling to see this fusion of color and sound live, which translates directly her into fashion.

If I remember correctly Lorde also has it, and has spoken about it in interviews before, and both of them have been around for years longer than Olivia so I'm not sure why you say "finally". And I'm sure there were other artists years before them that have it too.

I'm sorry but all these people bringing up "gilded age" clearly have no idea what they're talking about and what truly pushed me over the age was hearing "gilded age" and "silent film era" because cinematography wasn't even taking baby steps durning the gilded age are, it was merely crawling. Olivia looked beautiful but unfortunately completely missed the theme of the event that's supposed to be about the art of fashion and education of it all and it's incredibly sad and upsetting to see people with such resources waste them all away.

kinda tired of people with zero fashion history knowledge thinking they can design a better dress than versace. this outfit was referencing 90s gilded glamour and the art noveau style popular during the real gilded age. just because her dress doesn't look like something out of bridgerton doesn't mean it didn't fit the theme.

I love how she's speaking so much truth that the entertainment industry tries to ignore. "oh yeah i woke up with three pimples on my face." most people wouldn't want to say that or point out that they don't have perfect skin. And at first I didn't like the makeup but it's grown on me and now i loved it and i wanna recreate it lol
