Her marketing team did a great job the aesthetics she used, the merch, the sour candy collaboration, the car wash thing really big artist need to learn from her everything was well studied even her social media post she appeared very relatable to her fans. Also I’ve heard that her parents are a therapist and teacher so I think that has a lot to do with her ability of showing her vulnerable feelings
facts. i didn’t even think of that! i had no clue her parents were in those professions, but i’m sure that played a big role in her ability to be vulnerable. 🧡
it's crazy how 'sour' only has 11 songs but olivia managed to capture heartbreak in such a raw, visceral way. from anger to sadness to anxiety, she had a really authentic and relatable way of conveying emotions. she also wrote lyrics that felt like they were ripped from her diary, like it's so personal. i do wish that she included more rock songs on 'sour' but that's my only complaint. i love 'sour' as a whole
great video! you missed out the 4th element that can't be ignored though... the drama. it really pushed the album through the roof, because everyone wanted to hear the whole story, thus going on to listen to the full album, rather than just the singles (which is really what got her album to be 100% billboard charting). she and her team are masters of storytelling, timing and creating a narrative even in real life, outside of the music.
@@nadines2158but that plays into the drama thing with most people who’ve never heard of her. Nobody i know had heard of her because we’re a year+ older than her, but everyone was invested in her drama. It’s not different than random people who go viral online because they shared their drama like girl who complained about her friend wearing her bf’s sweater and flirting with him
right? "i hope you're happy but don't be happier" not to call her basic, but i can't believe in the history of music and many songs about love/breakup, nobody's thought of that lyric before.
@@cowboy_like_sophiaTo be honest her Guts album is just so fk good and it was like she broke the internet for me with her single Vampire. Like I read many Wattpad stories and deep down I feel like she done every single reader of a vampire series justice! 😊
I'm a music lover, I listened Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles since my 7 yo, listened a lot of music (Alternative, grunge, punk, metal, house, etc.) By now, she's my fav artist, I don't know why, I just enjoy music.
Dude. This is awesome. Great job. This format is killer. Love the charts!! 🤓 Chlo-Dog said Olivia’s tabloid drama, credits to other artists, and the concurrent rise of TikTok also amplified the success of the record.
Fantastic video man!! Loved the inclusion of music theory in a way that was digestible to us normies! Def look forward to hearing more like this - I’d be interested to know about other artists who’ve seemingly exploded in popularity overnight!
This was such an amazingly well done video, and the facts were amazing, the and editing was absolutely top notch, along with the instruments. You definitely deserve a lot more subscribers than you already have, keep this up and your going to grow really really quickly.
this means a lot… thank you for the kind words and support. my editor (santino) is super thankful as well, as we work really hard on these videos. more coming soon!🧡🧡
Sour is literally one of my favourite albums Im glad it made the charts! Favourite song is traitor (I sorta relate) Btw I can’t believe you only have 1.5k you’re too underrated !! Hope you get more subs, good job so far 😊
I was shocked when I saw how many views this video has, I thought there were going to be way more! You’re so underrated this is a great video. Ive been a fan of Olivia since about a month after sour came out, and it always annoys me how when people commentate on her they mainly only focus on the TikTok drama involving her, and completely discredit her as an artist. Your point of view on this was very mature and I loved it! Keep up the good work man 🤘
omg this is so easy to understand!! i was always wondering she’s only 19 and how is she so successful and your video suddenly popped up in my youtube you will keep growing!! nice video
I would say she is very much in vein with Taylor swift in musical style and subject matter. she is perfect for that fan base, as well as the pop punk sound which was coming to the forefront yet again. She’s a great singer and songwriter too which is cool to see! The music is authentic and inspired rather than just ripping off other artists and trends
How do you not have more subscribers?! Clicked on this video and watched it through thinking I was watching a RU-vidr with millions of subscribers, it was so well made!!!
loved this! also its the first time in a long time that i haven't needed english subtitles to understand what is being said ( english is not my first language) ... great work!
Maybe she is a brilliant song writer and performer with a very talented producer and we have just barely begun to hear her name. Maybe she has a special way of conveying difficult emotion that people find genuine. Lot of pressure on her for her second album. Maybe too much.
only 151 subs, damn you're so underrated. I forgot how much I love this kinda content instead of the overused fucking monotone voice with a basic script.
and she did her records only thanks to tik tok marketing there are a lot of articles and studies in marketing economics to explain it .. a day she was " nobody" and then the miracle ...
love the quick response brotha eli. but if I were you Id do a few unique vids like you do and throw in a "what made (a song) so good/so bad/so exc" and kinda start a fanbase on that
I don’t know, but I didn’t care much back then, but now ( I am 21) if feels so nostalgic, maybe the nostalgia from covid? This album is really interesting
at least a small part of it as well was that she was already relatively popular with her target audience of teenagers since she was in disney channel shows, at least me and a few of my friends knew about her from that and initially listened to sour because of that. Then of course word of mouth and all the other points lead to her audience becoming far wider than it had initially been.
Wow. The first songs I’ve heard from her were traitor and good 4 u. That really has nothing to do with this video but just saying. This is so smart, she’s smart.
You forgot one thing. She already has a following before she released driver's license through HSMTMTS. She is a great artist but it's crazy to compare her to other artist when she had the headstart.
That's a really good point. Maybe if I make another video about it I'll bring it up! It would also be cool to compare her to other artists who started in Disney.
