Agreed. Gold looks locked but I'd say Pilz, Raboutou, & Mori are just too close to call; Bertone will have to dig deep on the rope wall to hang close. AND would love to see one of the long-shots surprise, too. Final looks exciting for sure and possibly epic. Actually, so many so fun to cheer for will feel worse for 4 thru 8 than the top 3. Thank you so much for these coverages! My country only shows the final events so it's great to get context from the semis. Grossman has a knee injury unfortunately. On Hannah Morris's channel you can see her being belayed by her coach even on a bouldering spraywall (so she wouldn't take a nasty fall) 😕 Sad that she didn't get to give it her absolute best!
I followed the live score today during the lead climbing and I'm honestly really bummed out and surprised that Miho didn't make the finals. Nevertheless she ROCKS
Stunned neither Miho or Natalia made it. Stunned the latter and really disappointed the former. We love Miho! ;-) (She'll always have Olympic silver tho.)
Surprised that Grossman won't be in the finals. I thought that she was the only climber that had a decent shot of beating Janja. I figured that she could get 90-100 in bouldering and 70-80 in lead.
Not really, Natalia is not as strong in lead climbing. She's very good in boulder. Nonetheless, boulder and lead needs to be separated. It's not fair to combine two disciplines.
@@29chhangte Good points. But I still feel like Natalia at her best--and with an easy lead route--had a shot at pushing Jana. I don't feel that the same can't be said of the rest of the field.
Genuine question, why the world record holder is Bronze, but Gold and Silver were slower than Bronze and 4th place? I didn't get it. THanks for answering!
The speed finals are head-to-head to head races where only the winner of an individual matchup goes to the next round like a soccer tournament. Samuel Watson lost his semi-final race so he faced the other semi-final loser for the bronze medal, while the semi-final winners got to race for gold and silver.
Dunno other national streams' coverage but the US' very frustrating. Not even half the climbers' attempts shown - not Nonaka, Grossman, or even a couple who earned Final 8. Able to real time track the IFSC webpage's tabular scoreboard until another sport's - diving - coverage completed and switched to climbing, more than halfway thru the semi by then.. Ugh.
