Out for a camping trip towards the start of Summer 2021. Decided to go out exploring on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula, traveling through the Olympic National Forest on the gravel forest roads. We found a new to us national forest campground located deep in a valley in the national forest. This was a gem of a campground and is a place we intend to visit again.
It was a very hot weekend, with a heatwave encroaching on all of the Pacific North West, from California all the way up into Canada. Despite the heat, we still had a great time getting out into the Olympic Mountains, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells the remote forests have to offer here in Washington State. We camped one night out in the forest, but decided to end the trip early on account of the heat. Emma was just unable to get cool so it was best to get back into the A/C of the truck and head back home.
