Traveling up the Wynoochee River into the Olympic National Forest to camp for free with a friend I met on RU-vid. Talking about propane still not working.
Check out Hobuck Beach..locals fav for surfing, sup, kayak fishing..very laid back camping with a short walk to the beach..go to Neah Bay all the way & take a left.
Hi Eric. Before you go get another LP Regulator. Double check The long hose for damage and kinking. Is there a hole in the body at the back door for the hose to go inside ? Or is it passing in under the lip and edge of the rear door and getting pinched off? Just trying to help. Beautiful spot to camp . Love it.
Both your stove and your Buddy Heater use high pressure propane. They have their own regulators. You need to bypass that regulator by the tanks. Also, I thought you kept your generator in a tote. Did I miss something?
steve murphy The pressure in a 1 lb cylinder is the same as in a 20 or 30 lb cylinder: physics you know. The regulator for stoves, lanterns, buddy heaters etc that use 1 lb cylinders are in the gas valve that controls the flame.
love the video. turn on the camera when u want eric. u are in control here :) i barely do any videos because not many have watched what i posted so not worth the data i used to post. data is expensive in canada. u got 30 gigs of data that is not much if u keep posting 10+ minute videos lol. glad u are home.
Some of those propane regulators are tricky. If you turn them on too fast, the regulator assumes it is a leak and shuts down, however if you turn it on slowly, they will work.
SweetbearCoyote , it should, I think. He used to run a toaster oven off of the solar before. Eric got rid of the toaster oven just because he wasn't using it.
Solar as a rule won't support anything with a resistive or an inductive load after 2 amps for very long. A 5 amp 120 vac electrical device takes 50 amps of power from a 12 vdc battery hence the dc to ac inverter. Rule of thumb is X 10. More elaborate systems over a thousand solar watts is a whole different game changing all the rules. I've seen larger rvs with the available roof space have more than1,500 watts in solar too.
SweetbearCoyote You could yes, but its not sustainable. Heat, and cooking appliances use huge current over 12V DC. Youd probably zap full batteries cooking one meal. No replacement for propane in that sense.......
I appreciate the better quality of your videos and like knowing that you are taking time for yourself as well as enjoying everything life is offering you , with Jax and friends.
Scott Tarlow kinda funny how i got all these replies (some of them deleted) questioning my moral compass, when there is no implication that I am perfect. What if I was feeling so guilty about stealing media that I was looking for someone else who felt guilty about it to? You guys would never know because when you think you know you stop thinking. It's so sad that illegally downloading music, movies, tv ect has become so commonplace that you are made fun of when you don't. Eric makes movies, he's a content creator, he should at least respect that sorta thing, but he doesn't because he's backwards. Sorry bro, you are. you need help.
Eric what camera did you use for this video? The color and clarity in the last shots at the river were incredible. Also, Hank Hill could figure out your propane issue for ya.
Nomadic Fanatic Hi Eric... I've been a fan of yours for a while & I really think you are a smart, caring guy. I love watching your videos & you are right doing just what you want to do. I hear people say bs & that's fine. Not everyone loves us... right?? But you just keep moving forward leaving the bs behind. We lost our home last Sept because my partner was early diagnosed with Parkinson's disease & we are fortunately to have a trailer to live in at a park for now. I would love to live off the grid & have a car we could take on weekends away to sleep in. I love nature & the fresh air & the rush of the rat race. Take care you & Jax & waiting patiently for your next vid. Greetings from Melbourne, Australia xo
Luís Costa With Google Earth you can usually get an idea of where Eric and Jax are, or have been. "Wynoochee lake, WA" in 'Earth' and will give you a general idea of where they are now. Just a little further north is the Canadian border and the Olympic Mountain Range, that are similar to parts of the Alps. I think he's about 30 miles from "Mount Olympus' a 2500m peak. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_Mountains
William Kambeitz Wen I say, "point in a map" its not the exact location. I can say , I live in the city of Porto, is in North of Portugal, Portugal is in Europe, between Spain and the Atlantic Ocean. Take care, Luís.
wow what a beautiful place. I love hearing the birds in the background. where I live in Louisiana I use to hear birds all the time. nowadays not so much. over numerous years I would see dead birds that just fall from trees or the sky I don't know which but maybe both. I use to see leopard frogs daily ... I haven't seen a leopard frog in many many years
You could give some thought to a second channel simply devoted to a short "here's what I'm up to today" daily Vlog. 3-5 minutes, no major editing. Even if only 10-20% of your audience subscribed and stayed up on it, you'd get new ad revenue to boot.
There arent as many folks in the ONF because it is so far from anything or any place of consequence. You really need to be more than 2 hours from Seattle before the crowds start to thin out. Glad Jax found a new buddy even if it is a dog. In cat speak. Take care and scratches for Jax. One more thing on the propane. The auto regulator may have leak or safety valves that will shut off the propane. You may simply need to connect the lines and keep bleeding till you get pressure. I can't say whether or not that since the buddy has it's own regulator if that will be a problem. Good luck figuring it out.
It's probably not busy, because people who live here (including me) aren't going camping as often because of the burn-ban ... just not as much fun without a campfire
It always goes that way...Deadliest Catch, not really about the crab anymore, it's the people...Orange County Choppers, ended up not being about the motorcycles, it was the people...face it Eric who have become a celeb. Fellow Olympian
Hey I am from Port Angles washington, Moved to california in 1989, to San Jose, now I live in Palm Desert california. I drove the bus clallam county transit from port angeles to forks, and Neah Bay. brings back memories seeing you there.
Great video! Makes wanna visit all my friends and relatives throughout the state. I look forward to doing what your doing. Wishing you continued success. BLESSINGS
Been watching for awhile. Enjoy your channel. Really want to travel all across this land see everything. Hopefully in 3 to 4 years when my son goes to collage. Thanks for the vids....
Cool area Eric...wado for sharing. Love that swing into the water. I don't care how old I get, I will always love swinging into the water. Yall be safe. ENJOY....THE SIMPLE. LIFE
Lilly is beautiful and she gets along so well with Jax because Jax is cool and goldens are the absolute most wonderful breed of K-9 there is . I know because it is the only breed we have owned for the past 30 years. Their temperament and disposition is extraordinary. Good video by the way Erik
This is so cool Eric....I camped where you are in 1970 it was the last summer before they built the dam on the Wynoochee river. Great hiking trails in the area too. It used to be a great fishing river....rainbow trout behind ever big rock in the river. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. great video and your right about what you said about you recording schedule. You've got a great show don't change a thing
Don't post often but I've got to tell you how jealous I am of this camping spot ! haha. It is beautiful ! I watch a couple of BF channels out of Washington, ever see or hear any big footed guys while camping ? 8 0 )
Oh man, You & Jax both were really lucky. Jax had his leash still on & it could have gotten tangled up in briars or anything & it would have been certain death for him over time, if you had not of found him. But that didn't happen & you did find him. I'm so glad you found Him.
I believe you are correct. Those devices are already regulated, and require high pressure propane input, the auto regulator is probably taking it down to 11 in W.C. (less than 1/2 a psi). If the hose is rated for it you could run full pressure propane with it.
im jealous...lol, im very hot natured-born with astma-now copd,so i have to keep cool and its hard here in ne texas area.spring and fall is good for me....enjoy the spring fed rivers and lakes...
Thank you for your time, it is a pleasure to hear from you every other day it just make it something to look forward to and also that is a very nice place. Need you to answer a question. If you still had a choice MH or a Van witch one would you choose, I have just gotten a Van and I have a 30ft MH need to now if it is worth giving up the MH to go to the Van ? Please very up in air about it..
Your regulator is the problem. It reduces pressure to 11" w.c. which is around 1.5 psi . Your heater and stove are meant to run on tank pressure which is around 100 psi depending on ambient temperature.
Nomadic Fanatic Loved the video, the new puppy that is Jax friend and the beautiful scenery. Have you thought about making a thin rope line that jax could walk out a bit further from your van. Tie from the van to the tree or whatever and he has a good bit of distance to explore. So wish he could be free like Lilly. Another great video and I get the every other day thing. Thx
I know you don't want to talk about your feelings nd all that eric but as a business and marketing major you have to add that spice and flare and drama into 2 out of every 10 episodes, it will only help you. people don't want to see you doing well, sorry to say. its a grey area eric your smart enough to make it off of giving people what they want, youre already doing it
just and idea. Is it worth to set your generator to run off propane since you carry the tanks anyway? You could eliminate the need for a fuel can. How is Jax digesting Blue?
A sweet spot you found, one could pass a few days there quite nicely. What is that regulator on the LP tank, should not be necessary, I have never used one when operating with the small tanks.
You are litterally living my dream life!, sick van, brewskis and chilling by the river could not get any better than that! im in the uk and thinking about doing it over here when i move out, just not half as beautifull as washington. i hope one day ill be out there, never know aha
Maybe because I was raised in the country but in some of these remote areas where you camp I would feel safer carrying a 10 mm or a tactical .45 (15 rds.) because you'll run into some psychotic, unstable people and it's better to be safe than sorry. Plus you mentioned the bears so that means for sure I am carrying something that'll make them think twice about messing with me.
Reflection Ofpower I agree with most of what you said. I do have a gun and am not afraid to use it. But what worries me is going from state to state and having a gun can be tricky. I totally agree with you about the weirdo's, pshcho's and just thugs who want what you have and will, like you say pull out a gun and use it. I think Bear spray will take down both the bear and these weirdo's, though I have no experience with it at all. So I could be wrong.
Danne George Bear spray could be a viable alternative, I agree or some form of self-protection scheme that is legal. Anything would be better than nothing in my opinion.
You mentioned the possibility of bears, depending on who you believe there may also be a big foot or two. You are in big foot central right now. Keep your ears peeled at night, you just might hear one?
beautiful spot. You get so few days like this in the northwest that you tend to treasure every one of them. Lot of rope swings here in California but alas there is only sand and rocks under them.
I liked that show too mock dodge it was intertaining I wonder why they do not show it anymore I know his last episode he was supposed to walk for months to see his daughter or something. Cannot wait to see that area soon. Take care Eric and be safe.
You should invest in some tiny flies, jigs, and minnow jerk baits for the streams you camp at. I bet some of those deeper pools and pockets hold some trout that are yummy to eat.
