I hope more people buy olympus camaras , when i show up with my em10 miii people think it,s a toy camera and that it wont produce good images but actually it,s a beast ;)
bbc6rgf 57 ytty5 y xy w5gt if only Olympus accepted their place and created even smaller m4/3 cameras and cheaper lenses people will buy m4/3. I also use m4/3 and I am really disappointed on how they turned out
My first SLR was an Olympus (about 1999), i don't care what is inside of this new model, i'm sure that the final product will be GREAT. I don't know why people are crazy about the specs these day, just get the camera and make you photos. Well done Olympus, well done.
They care about the specs because they dont know photography stems around lighting, composition and subject matter.... all these noobs bashing the camera have never taken a decent photo in their life....
I own an EM1X on june 2019 and, to date, I don't understand why it costs so much more than an new Em1 III. Ergonomics, battery grip, 2 same performance slot cards are not enough to justify the price difference. All the features of the Em1X have been included in the Em1 III, what sense does it make to buy an Em1x? But above all ... what is the dual processor for? (at the moment same performance or less than the Em1 III…). One years later and no upgrade firmware… I think all of this is wrong for Em1X customers... You should give some info for a camera bought different money.
Rob trek has a RU-vid channel and his videos are awesome! He only uses Olympus cameras and it helps a lot of Olympus users to get the best out of the cameras. He's a great photographer and and amazing person. It would be awesome if he could test an e-m1x !👍 Cheers!
I had hands on here in Sweden with the E-M1X yesterday (2019-02-13) for about 30 minutes. We'll see what Olympus can make of the AF system, if they can add more motives for, what I consider more common and useful subjects, humans, wild life, birds etc. If they can do this, and do it soon, it will be a very capable camera. I could only try it with some pretty slow moving cars but with that it looked good. The camera identifies the subject very quickly and most of the time keeps tracking it. Looked like most shots were in focus as well at 10 fps mechanical and 18 fps electronic. It was a very busy environment. EVF and display are already well known, same same more or less though a bit bigger EVF magnification. It's not a bad EVF, never has been, but it's not up to the competition as far as resolution goes. It does however, unlike the current high res EVF's, stay the same even if the light drops significantly. To be honest, I really wanted a high res viewfinder for this, but... I'm not sure now, I rather have the smooth speed in both good and bad light. @Tomer Weiss does indeed have a good point here as per our friendly discussion the past few days. As far as the EVF being pixelated or "the worst EVF ever", don't pay any attention to it. Stupid comments from people who are either fan boys of some other brand, or payed to bad mouth other brands. Display is also the same as before, not bad, not great with todays standards. I think Olympus could've updated the function of it if nothing else. Fuji has added some multi touch funtionality as well as motion recognition such as swype up for one quick funtion, down for another and that could help quick settings I think. I still find the AF Pad on display to be slow compared to other makes such as Panasonic but no big deal with the E-M1X because the joysticks are simply superb. They change the AF point really quick and they work in the diagonal. The joysticks and buttons have a more tactile feel, very nice. Over all the body, as expected, feels superb, great size in my opinion. It is no where NEAR as large or heavy as people think it is. It's not like a Nikon D5 or Canon 1DX, that's like comparing sumo wrestlers with a kung fu master. It feels much smaller than the specs seem to indicate, much of it is most likely down it being much thinner than those larger cameras. Menus, changing settings (aperture, shutter speed, iso etc) is slightly faster, it feels more direct now, something I have been missing on all other Olympus bodys, there's just been this very very slight delay when changing aperture for example and that is gone now. I wish Olympus would overhaul their user interface though, the large yellow text and over all look is starting to feel quite old compared to the competition. It's functional, no doubt about it, just a little dated. For most people, in my opinion, the E-M1 Mk II will be a better choice, you get 95% of the camera for less than half the price, that money between can almost buy you a 12-40 and 40-150 + TC or buy you a 300mm F4. As far as weather sealing goes, the E-M1 Mk II is already the best of all cameras out there. If my E-M1 Mk II was to die, for some reason, I would most likely go for the E-M1X, specially if they can add more deep learning motives to it but I don't feel the need to add one, I'd rather spend the 3500 euroes on lenses and equipment to help my wild life shooting (dry suit, photo hide etc). Rasmus
I love Olympus, but I cannot see where the market is for this particular beast of a "micro" four-third's camera. (Confused Olympus Enthusiast). Good luck though.
3899 $ Canadian dollars. For what? There's pretty much no big difference from Om-d em1 mark ii. There is no way that I'm going to pay that much money for that Camera. You can buy 2 om-d e-em mark ii in Canada for that price Really disappointed!!!
@@tomerweiss4900 no it isn't. The 1d can has a fullframe sensor that captures 4x more light and allows it to isolate better in sports. There is a reason m43 and 43rd never became a big player alongside global sport events. With sports you simply need light to get faster shutterspeeds to freeze the action. With a m43 camera you'd get loads of noise arround ISO 6400 FF bodies just handle high ISO's much better. If you want a more affordable camera for sports there is the Fujifilm X-T3 and the Nikon D500. Which are better and roughly half the price.
@@1barnet1 Who cares about FF ... u think your end users really know what you used ? i have 5DSR and EM1 II ... do you think anyone knows ? sorry mate,..they don't OMD enables you to do stuff that you can't or barley in usual FF - so for me OMD wins big time
@@1barnet1 Who cares about the FF blah blah ... M43 works fine. if you want perfect IQ go for Medium Format. want 3KG for your Trip M43 is perfect. wanna FF take 10kg ... that's the story ... your end users will never know if you used MD,FF or M43 try me ...
I shoot sport with Olympus. An E-5 from 2007 and an EM-1 from 2013. Go check my work and tell me if you see any issues with my photos produced with old M4/3 cameras. ((@jcz_ _photos on Instagram.)) Its not the camera, its the photographer. Everyone here needs to stop being keyboard warriors and get outside shooting. You are the problem not the camera.
After looking at the reviews I have found nothing much significant difference between M1MK2 and M1X. I own M1 MK2 and I am satisfied with it as I shoot mostly videos only. Yes definitely this is a good camera for sports and wildlife professionals. Regarding slow motion of 120fps in M1X, I have found a way out with the help from Olympus to shoot slow motion with my M1MK2 and further slow down during editing in FCP.
just for the price of this olympus body camera, you can get a fujifilm xt-3 + the fuji 100-400 !!! or a great (better) sony with a lens, a pentax k3 ii with 3 lenses etc etc what's wrong Olympus, this camera is nice, but price should be around 1000 euros max! i dont see how and to who they ll sell it...
I agree. The professional photographer would go with a full frame Sony for mirrorless while the well-heeled amateur would demand a far better viewscreen and rear panel LCD. I do enjoy my em10.2 with various primes and the 12-40, which all cost less than $1500. Half the price for this body....for five lenses and the camera. Olympus used to be pretty cheap. It still is for their older stuff, but their new stuff is getting up there.
@@langhamp8912 yeah and they had a place on the market, with this one, with almost not concurrent on this niche, that was good for them, but witht his camera they want to compete with sony/fuji etc. and at 3000 euros they wont compete at all. i think many olympus fan who could be tempted by this camera wont buy it for a while, and they will wait a reasonable price to afford it. I hope olympus has strong finances
There is a lot of things to like, but for the price, there's a lot of things that should be better. That 7.5 stops of stabilization could be priceless for the right person with the budget though. Its practically a gimbal for video use, 8bit is 2017. It will be interesting to see more testing on its AF performance. So far its looking promising. There are some features on this camera are best in the industry so its nice to see them. But that price is too much. $2000 is a big pill to swallow for any m43 camera. If this camera was around there, then this would be a welcoming upgrade to the m43 world. Paying a $1000 to be the first tax is pretty steep, but there is a market for that...
I would never regret in buying the camera with the knowledge that the EVF is more state-of-the-art concerning resolution. Never understood why this is still a problem in 2020. PS: Started with an E-3 and some PRO lenses in 2008. Never switched to M43. With the arrival of the "WOW camera" this could change for the first time. I'll cross my fingers.
Hmm.. This video made me think: would it be possilbe to made sensor with microlenses that move/rotate in z-axes / z-direction (distance) movement and rotation (pitch, yaw, roll) to correct ibis distortion artefacts? or could it replace sensor's 5-axis ibis totally? Or create more flexible depth focus - or calculate volume / depth from images / videos better/more accurate.
£3k UK??? No way, sorry Olympus you need to sort out the Pen and D5 ranges with some decent upgrades (not new art filters or different coloured bodies). Your clock is ticking so so fast.
Still No global shutter and organic sensor with better dynamic range? :/ And no 60fps 4k 10bit / HDR video (with raw recording possiblity). But good sport camera it looks to be for stills and for architechture photos or even for photogrammetry scanning. And for video 24 bit 96kHz - that's pretty nice. What i hope to see from Olympus is Organic sensor with better dynamic range and global shutter and that 60fps 4k 10bit (global shutter would be the feature for video and for eletric shutter - no need for mechanical shutter anymore - i don't like that rolling shutter feature of cmos sensors :/ especially while recording 4k video and with ibis and eis). Also support for external usb charging while camera is ON would be nice thing and also external usb recording for ssd (for unlimited video - or seamlessly splitted 30min video clips) And it would be nice to see camera with attachable /removable back screen 🤔 but maybe it would be bad idea: screen would be lost somewhere all the time... but it could be removed and connected with hdmi/usb-c (with power input) - then it would make "selfie" and other video angle's videoshooting/stillshooting easier, sure smartphones can be also used for these things but smartphone isn't always available for screeening. After these improvements there is no 360 degreee volumetric video (or / and stereo video) from olympus. Btw. Depth map from stacked focus bracketing would be nice addition output and also "onion skinning" with stop motion features (fast sequence playback and onion skinning and photo deleting). Photogrammetry inside camera that would be crazy? Or wonderful? But not necessary. Better to focus on dynamic range and global shutter and faster 4k video (60fps and 10bit would be very good) but next step would be 8k i guess so sensors must be developed, especially better noisereduction (maybe with machine learning optimized noise reduction?)/sensitivity (higher iso with less noise). If art filters are important then something like this: github.com/jamriska/ebsynth ? ebsynth.com/ :D I know. Crazy idea for professional mirrorless cameras.
Shutter angle would be great feature for video recording (but sure user should be able to turn shutter angle ON and OFF - so this should be available from menu - shutter speed / shutter angle selection for video recording)
I need a few real world examples, like at the moment when shooting in pro-cap mode we have to wait for the buffer to clear before we can switch to a different mode. Hybrid shooters need to know we can quickly flick to video and start recording immediately. Will the dual processors allow this?
When i noticed this: www.phaseone.com/en/Photography/XT-Camera-System/XT-Technology i started to think if Olympus could make somehting like that too (phase one XT-camera kind of camera body) to create better "ibis" or gimbal build in body stabilisation like sony has done with their compact consumer video camera ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yhfkra0XkJU.html So something like XT camera body for stabilizing camera movements.
Could new E-M1 Mark iii include NFC / Bluetooth technology inside battery grip for remote shutter release? Maybe NFC could remove contact surfaces/adapter/pins from battery grips?
this way battery grip could be used also when its not connected to camera. I am also really hoping global shutter for electronic shutter stills and for 4k video with 10bit and 60/50/48fps recording and possibility to set Shutter angle/degree in video mode for movie recorders (also shutter speed for users who wants to have option/full control). And some 240fps full hd video recording. But also better sensors are welcome with low noise and high dynamic range and with minimal bayer artifacts - something like organic foveon kind of sensor with global shutter and TOF (time of flight) focus would be lovely combination.
Please advise if traditional Zuiko Optical Lenses with OM Mount could be used with this Camera, through an Adapter, and what Specifications will drop related to Auto Focus, TTL Flash Metering, F Stops and Shutter Speeds.
It seems like all the complainers are amateurs that can't afford a camera or don't know how to shoot. ISOs and price shouldn't be an issue if you know what you're doing and shooting professionally.
Pros need a clean image above ISO 1600 when you have a fast shutter in a not well lit environment like a cloudy afternoon. No IBIS in the world will solve the problem of a clean image with fast shutter speed. Who has time for longer exposures in a fast action context (sports, wildlife or even a concert with band members constantly moving)?
The problem arises when you can get a much better alternative for half the price with the Sony A7 III and many others. The EM1x is good, but extremely overpriced when you consider other options in the market.
@Gordon Shumway I think there's too much of an emphasis on gear these days and I think micro four thirds cameras do have a place. But I don't think any of the current micro four thirds cameras are worth this kind of money.
Outdated viewfinder screen. Grainy in low light. Not a new sensor. More depth of field than full frame for equivalent image with any focal length. High price. Could have been much, much better. How about an APS-H size sensor, for example? Some great features, several issues. A no-go for me.
