JPEG’s are often overlooked , but they have a place in the scheme of things. Inspirational images such as these you shared with us would make make an invaluable contribution to any photo book . Sure, Raw images give you more to play with , but it was the quality of the JPEG’s that most of us consider Shen we purchase out cameras and Olympus colours are among some of the best you can get . Thanks again Rob .

I got an EM5.2 2 months ago, and its always near me. Even thinking on buying a silver edition. I mean, its a full metal looker, and a great camera. Considering the EM1.2, as a backup :P

Another nice video from "The Hand Of Trek". : ) Keep talking in those videos so we see what you're thinking when taking these shots Rob. Using B&W filters is something I haven't done in a loooooooooooooong time so it was nice to see your results!!!

The 17mm f1.8 is a great lens for walkabout photography. I especially like it for street shots at night where the fast lens and superb IBIS combine to allow great hand held shots as slow as 2s or more and at 200 ISO. My only negative comment would be that it doesn’t seem to focus as close as eg either of the 2 “standard zooms” (12-40 PRO or 14-42 EZ) for close ups.

Thanks for this photowalk Rob! The Pen-F & the 17mm 1.8 lens is a perfect combo. I use this combo very often. The location and your photos are awesome, especially the one with the old bench and the red bush. Very interesting are the double exposure photos. A good inspiration for me because I never tried this. The Pen-F is(was) the most underrated camera in the market, unfortunately. The front dial functions are amazing for my photography. Thanks again for your great video Rob!

Great video all nice images. How is your horizon on your Pen f ? Mine has gone a bit off level. I got mine thanks to you. So have owned it about the time as yours. Can the Horizon be corrected in camera do you know. Thank you.
@RobTrek

Thanks. My horizon seems fine. You can adjust temporarily in-camera. I'll have to look into it as I've never done it before.

@@RobTrek Hi Rob thanks as always for coming back to me. I have been leveling horizon for some time as I thought it was me. On checking against Ocean horizon with the 75mm I think the sensor is on the tilt. Thanks for your response I know with all your shows time is tight so don't worry too much if I find a solution I will come back to you and explain. Thank you again.

Great compositions Rob with the 17mm. I am inspired as usual with your photo walks. In some instances I would love to see the colour version of your b&w shots, is there any possibility of posting both for a selection of shots from your next walk? As usual, great stuff and thanks a bunch.

Hey Rob. Great video again. I enjoy every one of them. I am going to get this lens and the 45 for the EM1 mk2. I wanted to ask you which lens would be the one lens travel solution for the EM1mk2? Something sharp and weather sealed like the latest Lumix 14 to 140 power OIS. I need that range from wide to telephoto. I need the quality to be good but don't want to spend money on PRO line of lenses as it is only for personal use. Does the Panny 14-140 Power OIS work well on EM1 MK2? Also, how is the focussing on the 17f1.8 indoors when lights are on? What's the Minimum focussing distance like? I mostly shoot pics of my toddler who walks right up to the camera when I try to take pics, so quick focusing and good MFD is important for me?
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 3 года назад
I would get the Oly 14-150mm over the Panny. Generally Oly lenses work better on Oly bodies. As for the 17mm, it's great for focusing indoors. Close focus distance is 0.25m.

@AkaiMiso

Would you please explain your step up/polarizer/hood setup?
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 3 года назад
I have step rings that adapt different size filter ring sizes to different size filters. The 17mm has a 46mm filter ring size. My polarizer has a 49mm ring size. So I used a 46mm-49mm step ring to adapt that polarizer to my lens. I also had a 52mm metal lens hood. So I used a 49mm to 52mm step ring to adapt the lens hood to the filter.
@AkaiMiso
@AkaiMiso 3 года назад
@@RobTrek Thank you! I am looking for a polarizer and hood that won't cause vignetting. I've read complaints about not being able to access the c-pl with a standard hood.
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 3 года назад
@@AkaiMiso Yes, you have to be careful. Anything wider than 17mm will get vignetting. I have to take the hood off for 14mm or I make sure to frame my image inside the vignette and crop it out later.

Yeah, straite out i could see you were very very at home with that 17mm lens. Getting compositions were coming to you much easier. I enjoyed it also and gave me some more perspective as how i can use the lens. Will still be getting a 25mm also at some stage. Great video.

@stolenorange

What are the step rings for?
@RobTrek
@RobTrek 3 года назад
They adapt different size filters to fit the lens. So if I buy a 52mm ring size polarizer filter and my lens ring size is 46mm, I will use "step" rings to adapt that filter to that lens. You usually buy a kit of 15 step rings for flexibility.

I always shoot SOOC jpg. Of course you get great photos with it. Olympus has very nice colour profiles and with Lumix i really appreciate the L.Monochrome. But what is so special about using jpg? Because it goes against the common youtuber doctrine that you should shoot RAW? There are even youtubers who wear jumpers with the slogan "I shoot RAW". How childish. What do they mean by that? Are you a better photographer because you can use an image editing programme? I don't wear a jumper that says "I shoot jpg".
@RobTrek

It's all about the journey. I love getting great jpgs. Olympus makes it easy.
