It's awesome the band sounds as great as ever and Mr. Lee kept his voice "young". I identify with the age, I'm 72 and was lucky to live in the greatest era of rock and roll music ever. These guys were and are part of it.
This brings a tear to to me. I first heard this song when I was 11 years old, and now at 54, to see this again, and Larry performing so flawlessly, just blows me away. So awesome!
If you took away the visuals and told me this was a high quality version of this song from back in the day, I’d have believed it. Larry’s voice sounds identical to how it sounded back in the 70s. And he is a multi-instrumentalist to boot. It just goes to show when you have the music in your soul, it shines through. Time waits for no one. But for some of us it takes a little time off along the way.
When I first heard the song I was just a young kid in high school about 15 years old now here I am at 63 oh my God it seems like just yesterday thought I heard the Ozark Mountain Daredevils record the song now I'm an old man well at least according to the people I work with that's what they call me hey old man! So many unbelievable bands came about in my lifetime I know every generation says this but for me it rings true I love the time I grew up in I love that I live through the British Invasion and I loved everything that came after that right up until the late 90s with Alice in Chains Stone Temple Pilots but still my number one band is the Beatles it's what I lived with it's what I grew up with listening to my brother and sister playing at all the time they were just drilled into me the whole British Invasion was absolutely fantastic the animals zombies The Rolling Stones omigod the so many bands to simply can't name the wall but it was just a totally unbelievable time to grow up and I really miss it and right now I'm going through my meltdown
Hey ..im with ya! This was my childhood too. As fast as life goes by, im still so glad I grew up in the 60s and 70s as a kid and teenager. I even hear young people today say they really wish they had grown up during our time. Great music everywhere you turned. People were just happier in general back then. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could..and take my kids with me! 😊
I don't think I'll ever get tired of this song. It really is a masterpiece. And this performance of it is every bit as good as what they were doing back in the day, if not better.
One of the all time best guitar solos ... so iconic, hypnotic and melodic .. can listen to it again and again ..reminds me of driving down a country road on a hot summer night, watching the sunset .. classic !
Spring Break ‘74, me & my friend Joey, EKU to Daytona, red 69 Vette, 427 three deuce 4spd. Suns coming up, Joey’s passed out, pulled the car over, toss the top down, grab the last beer, fire one up, hit the road running, Jackie Blue comes on the radio! Heaven On Earth for a 20 yr. old. Saw them live on the 10th row with 15 friends in Columbus a year later! 😎MAGICAL😛
Great song young city kid moved to surburbs in 73 and got introduced to a totally new way of life pool’s pretty girls 70’s pop&rock music greatest time of my life
One of my top 3 songs of all time! I fell for this song the year it came out, my senior year in high school. It is not only a classic pop/rock song, but it brings back many great memories for me od simpler times. My question is, what did the 6 "thumbs down" folks hear or see to score this video that way????? The only slight mark is that they didn't sing the last stanza, but so what? Larry Lee sounds like he is still chucking it back in 1975 -- I can't think of another rocker from that age who can do that. mike Love comes close. This is a perfect song!!!
great,..great song...from start 2 finish.....lyrics are so well written,... classy, classy tune....awesome 2 see he could still do it......seen it be4...real talent doesnt run outta gas........
charlotte quillen it’s about a drug dealer. A friend of theirs dealt drugs and they thought he had an interesting life. They changed to be about a free spirited girl and aren’t we glad they did!?! 😃
Always loved this song and many years later I travelled to Missouri from the UK and met a beautiful gal from Missouri, we got married in Mark Twain State Park.....her name...........Mary 😂😂😂 Sadly we split up many years later I went back to the UK but still miss her, the Ozarks and frozen custard! OH AND THROWED ROLLS! The good Lord created the Ozarks and he looked down and declared THEY ARE RIGHTEOUS!👍🏻🇺🇸
Ooh, Jackie Blue Lives her life from inside of her room Hides a smile when she's wearin' a frown Ooh, Jackie you're not so down You like your life in a free-form style You'll take an inch but you'd love a mile There never seems to be quite enough Floating around to fill your lovin' cup Ooh, Jackie Blue What's a game girl, if you never lose? Ask a winner and you'll probably find Ooh, Jackie they've lost at sometime Don't try to tell me that you're not aware Of what you're doing and that you don't care You say it's easy, just a natural thing Like playing music, but you never sing Ooh, Jackie Blue Making wishes that never come true Going places that you've never been Ooh, Jackie Blue, you're going again Ooh, Jackie Blue Lives a dream that can never come true Making love is like sifting through sand Ooh, Jackie, it slips through your hand Every day, in your indigo eyes I watch the sunset but I don't see it rise Moonlight and stars in your strawberry wine You'd take the world but you won't take the time Ooh-hoo-hoo, Jackie Blue Lives her life from inside of a room Makes you think that her life is a drag Ooh Jackie, what fun you have had Ooh, Jackie Ooh, Jackie Ooh, Jackie Ooh, Jackie Hey, hey, hey, hey
Those lyrics are pure brilliance of writing. No 'baby, bay, baby' silliness...just well-thought out words that ring with truth and meaning. I could listen to this musical masterpiece until the end of time...
Glad I found this. Have to confess I have a crush on the singer after the viewing the Old Grey Whistles footage from 1976 and I wanted to see him singing this in recent years.
Great song! Loved it back in 75' and I love it now! This song alone is better than any of the crap that's out today (April 1, 2023) Everything about the song is fantastic! From the Band, That Slide guitar, the lyrics of the songs, and the Sweet vocals from "Drummer" "Larry Lee"...I guess "Larry" wanted to be more up front so he traded in his Drummers Throne for a Keyboard Throne 😂
Kool Riddle did you play the Fiddle??? Sorry I couldn't pass it up LoL Awesome, I just got back from Aurora south east of Springfield, 'Nicest people on the Planet'
Musically, this is incredible! Larry’s voice hasn’t really lost much of its edge either. I love this song and it’s hard to believe it came out in the seventies-50 years ago! Cant ever see the songs being made today being played in 50 years time-can you?
Yes, pretty good as older '75 footage of 'Old grey whistle tour, song tempo slowed down just a whisker and voice not quite as crisp, but close, but whudya expect at in your 60s or pushing 70, still well done, hats off to Larry Lee.
There is the best producer and one of the kindest men I've ever met backstage in Bemidji believe it or not he was pretty and I never was but he's got some chaps
I was shocked to see OMD (Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark) doing one of my favorite songs. It took me a minute to realize OMD meant Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
